यः सुन्वते पचते दुध्र आ चिद्वाजं दर्दर्षि स किलासि सत्यः । वयं त इन्द्र विश्वह प्रियासः सुवीरासो विदथमा वदेम
Who, even when the Soma is pressed or cooked, grants the prize, even to the weak—truly you are real; may we, O Indra, always dear to you, victorious, speak mightily in the assembly.
ऋतुर्जनित्री तस्या अपस्परि मक्षू जात आविशद्यासु वर्धते । तदाहना अभवत्पिप्युषी पयोऽंशोः पीयूषं प्रथमं तदुक्थ्यम्
The season, the mother, gave birth to him; from her waters he quickly entered, growing within her; then, at his birth, nourishing milk was produced—the first, the most excellent portion of the sap.
सध्रीमा यन्ति परि बिभ्रतीः पयो विश्वप्स्न्याय प्र भरन्त भोजनम् । समानो अध्वा प्रवतामनुष्यदे यस्ताकृणोः प्रथमं सास्युक्थ्यः
They go together, bearing milk, offering nourishment for universal enjoyment; sharing the same path, they flow forth for humanity. He who made them first is worthy of praise.
अन्वेको वदति यद्ददाति तद्रूपा मिनन्तदपा एक ईयते । विश्वा एकस्य विनुदस्तितिक्षते यस्ताकृणोः प्रथमं सास्युक्थ्यः
One speaks as he gives, measuring according to his nature; another departs alone. All endure the actions of one, who made them first and is worthy of praise.
प्रजाभ्यः पुष्टिं विभजन्त आसते रयिमिव पृष्ठं प्रभवन्तमायते । असिन्वन्दंष्ट्रैः पितुरत्ति भोजनं यस्ताकृणोः प्रथमं सास्युक्थ्यः
They distribute sustenance among offspring, like wealth spreading from a summit; with sharp teeth, they consume the father's food. He who made them first is worthy of praise.
अधाकृणोः पृथिवीं संदृशे दिवे यो धौतीनामहिहन्नारिणक्पथः । तं त्वा स्तोमेभिरुदभिर्न वाजिनं देवं देवा अजनन्सास्युक्थ्यः
He who made the earth visible and the sky, who cleansed the paths and slew the serpent, him we praise with hymns and offerings; the gods created him, the worthy one.
यो भोजनं च दयसे च वर्धनमार्द्रादा शुष्कं मधुमद्दुदोहिथ । स शेवधिं नि दधिषे विवस्वति विश्वस्यैक ईशिषे सास्युक्थ्यः
He who gives food and growth, who draws sweet moisture from the dry and the wet, he placed the treasure for the shining one, and is the sole ruler of all; he is worthy of praise.
यः पुष्पिणीश्च प्रस्वश्च धर्मणाधि दाने व्यवनीरधारयः । यश्चासमा अजनो दिद्युतो दिव उरुरूर्वाँ अभितः सास्युक्थ्यः
He who upholds the blossoming and the flowing by his law, who sustains the gifts, who is unmatched, radiant, vast in the heavens and all around, he is worthy of praise.
यो नार्मरं सहवसुं निहन्तवे पृक्षाय च दासवेशाय चावहः । ऊर्जयन्त्या अपरिविष्टमास्यमुतैवाद्य पुरुकृत्सास्युक्थ्यः
He who brings down the arrogant and the hostile, who leads the strong and the generous, whose mouth is filled with nourishing strength, even today, he is worthy of much praise.
शतं वा यस्य दश साकमाद्य एकस्य श्रुष्टौ यद्ध चोदमाविथ । अरज्जौ दस्यून्समुनब्दभीतये सुप्राव्यो अभवः सास्युक्थ्यः
Whether a hundred or ten together, in the service of one, when you urge them on, you bind the enemies for the fearful; you became renowned for your protection.
विश्वेदनु रोधना अस्य पौंस्यं ददुरस्मै दधिरे कृत्नवे धनम् । षळस्तभ्ना विष्टिरः पञ्च संदृशः परि परो अभवः सास्युक्थ्यः
All the powers followed his manliness, giving him wealth and placing riches for the accomplished; he supported six, established five, and surpassed others, being worthy of praise.
सुप्रवाचनं तव वीर वीर्यं यदेकेन क्रतुना विन्दसे वसु । जातूष्ठिरस्य प्र वयः सहस्वतो या चकर्थ सेन्द्र विश्वास्युक्थ्यः
Your heroic deeds are well spoken, O hero, for by your single resolve you obtain wealth; the strength of the ever-firm, mighty one, all that you have done, O Indra, is worthy of praise.
अरमयः सरपसस्तराय कं तुर्वीतये च वय्याय च स्रुतिम् । नीचा सन्तमुदनयः परावृजं प्रान्धं श्रोणं श्रवयन्सास्युक्थ्यः
You make the swift and the strong pass over, you grant hearing to Turvīta and Vayya; you raise up the lowly, turn back the distant, and make the blind hear, being worthy of praise.
अस्मभ्यं तद्वसो दानाय राधः समर्थयस्व बहु ते वसव्यम् । इन्द्र यच्चित्रं श्रवस्या अनु द्यून्बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः
For us, O generous one, establish that gift for giving; much of your wealth is fit for us. Indra, whatever splendid fame is in the heavens, let us speak it greatly in the assembly, O mighty ones.
अध्वर्यवो भरतेन्द्राय सोममामत्रेभिः सिञ्चता मद्यमन्धः । कामी हि वीरः सदमस्य पीतिं जुहोत वृष्णे तदिदेष वष्टि
O priests, bring Soma for Indra, pour the intoxicating drink with your measures; for the hero desires the feast in his dwelling. Offer it to the mighty one, for he wishes it.
अध्वर्यवो यो अपो वव्रिवांसं वृत्रं जघानाशन्येव वृक्षम् । तस्मा एतं भरत तद्वशायँ एष इन्द्रो अर्हति पीतिमस्य
O priests, he who held back the waters and slew Vritra, as one fells a tree, for him bring this offering as he desires; this Indra deserves the drink.
अध्वर्यवो यो दृभीकं जघान यो गा उदाजदप हि वलं वः । तस्मा एतमन्तरिक्षे न वातमिन्द्रं सोमैरोर्णुत जूर्न वस्त्रैः
O priests, he who slew Dṛbhika, who released the cows, who broke open Vala for you, for him, in the midspace, like the wind, offer Soma to Indra, adorned with garments.
अध्वर्यवो य उरणं जघान नव चख्वांसं नवतिं च बाहून् । यो अर्बुदमव नीचा बबाधे तमिन्द्रं सोमस्य भृथे हिनोत
O priests, he who slew Uraṇa, who struck nine and ninety arms, who subdued Arbuda below, offer Soma to Indra for his delight.
अध्वर्यवो यः स्वश्नं जघान यः शुष्णमशुषं यो व्यंसम् । यः पिप्रुं नमुचिं यो रुधिक्रां तस्मा इन्द्रायान्धसो जुहोत
O priests, he who slew Svaśna, who destroyed Śuṣṇa, Aśuṣa, and Vyaṃsa, who struck Pipru, Namuci, and Rudhikrā, offer the intoxicating drink to Indra.
अध्वर्यवो यः शतं शम्बरस्य पुरो बिभेदाश्मनेव पूर्वीः । यो वर्चिनः शतमिन्द्रः सहस्रमपावपद्भरता सोममस्मै
O priests, he who broke a hundred cities of Śambara, as one splits stones, who destroyed a hundred and a thousand of Varchin, offer Soma to him, to Indra.
अध्वर्यवो यः शतमा सहस्रं भूम्या उपस्थेऽवपज्जघन्वान् । कुत्सस्यायोरतिथिग्वस्य वीरान्न्यावृणग्भरता सोममस्मै
O priests, he who has seized a hundred and a thousand in the lap of the earth, who has struck down, has covered the warriors of Kutsa, Ayu, Atithigva—offer Soma to him, to Indra.
अध्वर्यवो यन्नरः कामयाध्वे श्रुष्टी वहन्तो नशथा तदिन्द्रे । गभस्तिपूतं भरत श्रुतायेन्द्राय सोमं यज्यवो जुहोत
O priests, when men desire with longing, carrying out the ritual, do that for Indra; offer Soma, purified by your hands, for the renowned Indra, you worshippers.
अध्वर्यवः कर्तना श्रुष्टिमस्मै वने निपूतं वन उन्नयध्वम् । जुषाणो हस्त्यमभि वावशे व इन्द्राय सोमं मदिरं जुहोत
O priests, prepare the ritual for him; raise up the wood purified in the forest; offer the exhilarating Soma to Indra, who delights in the drink, with the ritual for the mighty one.
अध्वर्यवः पयसोधर्यथा गोः सोमेभिरीं पृणता भोजमिन्द्रम् । वेदाहमस्य निभृतं म एतद्दित्सन्तं भूयो यजतश्चिकेत
O priests, as you fill the generous Indra with the milk of the cow and with Soma, I know his quiet presence here—he who gives, who is ever eager for sacrifice.
अध्वर्यवो यो दिव्यस्य वस्वो यः पार्थिवस्य क्षम्यस्य राजा । तमूर्दरं न पृणता यवेनेन्द्रं सोमेभिस्तदपो वो अस्तु
O priests, he who is lord of the heavenly wealth, who is king of the earthly and the land-born, fill him, the mighty Indra, with Soma; may this be your accomplishment.
अस्मभ्यं तद्वसो दानाय राधः समर्थयस्व बहु ते वसव्यम् । इन्द्र यच्चित्रं श्रवस्या अनु द्यून्बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः
For us, O Lord, grant that wealth for giving; establish your abundance, for much is your generosity. Indra, whatever splendid fame extends through the days, may we speak greatly in the assembly, strong in men.
प्र घा न्वस्य महतो महानि सत्या सत्यस्य करणानि वोचम् । त्रिकद्रुकेष्वपिबत्सुतस्यास्य मदे अहिमिन्द्रो जघान
Now I shall declare the great and true deeds of this mighty one, the true acts of the truthful: in the Trikadruka presses he drank the Soma, and in its exhilaration Indra slew the serpent.
अवंशे द्यामस्तभायद्बृहन्तमा रोदसी अपृणदन्तरिक्षम् । स धारयत्पृथिवीं पप्रथच्च सोमस्य ता मद इन्द्रश्चकार
He propped up the sky with his might, filled the two worlds, expanded the midspace; he sustained and spread the earth, and by the exhilaration of Soma, Indra accomplished these things.
सद्मेव प्राचो वि मिमाय मानैर्वज्रेण खान्यतृणन्नदीनाम् । वृथासृजत्पथिभिर्दीर्घयाथैः सोमस्य ता मद इन्द्रश्चकार
Like a house, he measured out the eastern spaces with his powers; with the thunderbolt he cut through the channels of the rivers; he released them to flow freely on long paths—by the exhilaration of Soma, Indra accomplished these things.
स प्रवोळ्हॄन्परिगत्या दभीतेर्विश्वमधागायुधमिद्धे अग्नौ । सं गोभिरश्वैरसृजद्रथेभिः सोमस्य ता मद इन्द्रश्चकार
He, moving around, overcame the obstacles, made all weapons ready in the kindled fire; he sent forth cows and horses with chariots—by the exhilaration of Soma, Indra accomplished these things.
