प्रो अश्विनाववसे कृणुध्वं प्र पूषणं स्वतवसो हि सन्ति । अद्वेषो विष्णुर्वात ऋभुक्षा अच्छा सुम्नाय ववृतीय देवान्
Call upon the Ashvins for help, call upon Pushan, for they are self-powerful; may Vishnu, Vata, and the skillful Ribhus, free from enmity, turn towards the gods with favor.
इयं सा वो अस्मे दीधितिर्यजत्रा अपिप्राणी च सदनी च भूयाः । नि या देवेषु यतते वसूयुर्विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम्
May this your radiance, O worshipful ones, be with us, bringing increase and a secure dwelling; which, striving among the gods for wealth, may we find among the people, long-lasting.
पितुं नु स्तोषं महो धर्माणं तविषीम् । यस्य त्रितो व्योजसा वृत्रं विपर्वमर्दयत्
I will praise the Father, great in law and power, by whose might Trita struck down Vritra, the many-layered.
स्वादो पितो मधो पितो वयं त्वा ववृमहे । अस्माकमविता भव
Sweet Father, honeyed Father, we have chosen you; be our protector.
उप नः पितवा चर शिवः शिवाभिरूतिभिः । मयोभुरद्विषेण्यः सखा सुशेवो अद्वयाः
Come to us, O nourishing Father, with auspicious guidance; bringer of joy, free from hatred, a friend, gracious and unwavering.
तव त्ये पितो रसा रजांस्यनु विष्ठिताः । दिवि वाता इव श्रिताः
Yours, O Father, are those juices, spread throughout the realms, established as if resting in the sky like the winds.
तव त्ये पितो ददतस्तव स्वादिष्ठ ते पितो । प्र स्वाद्मानो रसानां तुविग्रीवा इवेरते
Yours, O Father, are those gifts; yours is the sweetest, O Father; the sweet ones of the juices, like strong-necked ones, delight in them.
त्वे पितो महानां देवानां मनो हितम् । अकारि चारु केतुना तवाहिमवसावधीत्
In you, O Father, the mind of the great gods is set; by your sign, Trita slew the serpent.
यददो पितो अजगन्विवस्व पर्वतानाम् । अत्रा चिन्नो मधो पितोऽरं भक्षाय गम्याः
When you, O Father, moved among the shining mountains, even there, O honeyed Father, the best food is to be sought.
यदपामोषधीनां परिंशमारिशामहे । वातापे पीव इद्भव
When we taste the essence of waters and plants, become nourishing within, O Vātāpi.
यत्ते सोम गवाशिरो यवाशिरो भजामहे । वातापे पीव इद्भव
Of your soma, with the head of a cow, with the head of barley, we partake; become nourishing within, O Vātāpi.
करम्भ ओषधे भव पीवो वृक्क उदारथिः । वातापे पीव इद्भव
O plant, become nourishing as gruel, kidney, and marrow; become nourishing within, O Vātāpi.
तं त्वा वयं पितो वचोभिर्गावो न हव्या सुषूदिम । देवेभ्यस्त्वा सधमादमस्मभ्यं त्वा सधमादम्
You, O Father, we would gladly receive with words, as cows a desired offering; from the gods we seek you as a companion at the feast, for ourselves we seek you as a companion at the feast.
समिद्धो अद्य राजसि देवो देवैः सहस्रजित् । दूतो हव्या कविर्वह
Kindled today, you reign, O god, victorious among the gods; O wise envoy, carry the offerings.
तनूनपादृतं यते मध्वा यज्ञः समज्यते । दधत्सहस्रिणीरिषः
When, O Tanūnapāt, the sacrifice is prepared with honey, you bestow countless riches.
आजुह्वानो न ईड्यो देवाँ आ वक्षि यज्ञियान् । अग्ने सहस्रसा असि
Like one who summons, you are to be praised; bring here the worthy gods for the sacrifice, O Agni, you who possess a thousandfold strength.
प्राचीनं बर्हिरोजसा सहस्रवीरमस्तृणन् । यत्रादित्या विराजथ
With radiance they have spread the ancient sacred grass, endowed with a thousand heroes, where the Ādityas shine forth.
विराट् सम्राड्विभ्वीः प्रभ्वीर्बह्वीश्च भूयसीश्च याः । दुरो घृतान्यक्षरन्
The shining, sovereign, mighty, and abundant streams—those many and great ones—flow with clarified butter.
सुरुक्मे हि सुपेशसाधि श्रिया विराजतः । उषासावेह सीदताम्
On the splendid, well-adorned seat, radiant with beauty, let the Dawns sit here.
प्रथमा हि सुवाचसा होतारा दैव्या कवी । यज्ञं नो यक्षतामिमम्
The first, eloquent, divine priests—may they, the wise ones, accept this sacrifice of ours.
भारतीळे सरस्वति या वः सर्वा उपब्रुवे । ता नश्चोदयत श्रिये
O Bhāratī, Iḷā, Sarasvatī, and all of you whom I invoke—may you inspire us to glory.
त्वष्टा रूपाणि हि प्रभुः पशून्विश्वान्समानजे । तेषां न स्फातिमा यज
Tvaṣṭṛ, the sovereign, has fashioned all forms and all creatures; offer for us their abundance.
उप त्मन्या वनस्पते पाथो देवेभ्यः सृज । अग्निर्हव्यानि सिष्वदत्
O Lord of the Forest, let your sap flow forth for the gods; let Agni carry the offerings.
पुरोगा अग्निर्देवानां गायत्रेण समज्यते । स्वाहाकृतीषु रोचते
Agni, leader of the gods, is joined with the Gāyatrī; he shines in the utterances of svāhā.
अग्ने नय सुपथा राये अस्मान्विश्वानि देव वयुनानि विद्वान् । युयोध्यस्मज्जुहुराणमेनो भूयिष्ठां ते नमउक्तिं विधेम
Agni, lead us on the good path to prosperity, O god, knowing all the ways; keep us away from crooked sin. We offer you the highest praise.
अग्ने त्वं पारया नव्यो अस्मान्स्वस्तिभिरति दुर्गाणि विश्वा । पूश्च पृथ्वी बहुला न उर्वी भवा तोकाय तनयाय शं योः
Agni, carry us across all hardships to safety with your blessings; may Pūṣan and the broad earth, vast and wide, be gracious to our offspring and descendants.
अग्ने त्वमस्मद्युयोध्यमीवा अनग्नित्रा अभ्यमन्त कृष्टीः । पुनरस्मभ्यं सुविताय देव क्षां विश्वेभिरमृतेभिर्यजत्र
Agni, drive away from us all hostility, whether from those without fire or from hostile tribes; again, for our well-being, O god, grant us land with all the immortals, O worthy one.
पाहि नो अग्ने पायुभिरजस्रैरुत प्रिये सदन आ शुशुक्वान् । मा ते भयं जरितारं यविष्ठ नूनं विदन्मापरं सहस्वः
Guard us, Agni, with unfailing protections; shine in your beloved seat. Let not fear come to your worshipper, youngest one; may we now know your further strength.
मा नो अग्नेऽव सृजो अघायाविष्यवे रिपवे दुच्छुनायै । मा दत्वते दशते मादते नो मा रीषते सहसावन्परा दाः
Let not, O Agni, the evil-doer, the enemy, or the malicious one overpower us; let not the thief, the deceiver, or the reviler harm us. Drive them far away, O mighty one.
वि घ त्वावाँ ऋतजात यंसद्गृणानो अग्ने तन्वे वरूथम् । विश्वाद्रिरिक्षोरुत वा निनित्सोरभिह्रुतामसि हि देव विष्पट्
Indeed, you, born of truth, grant protection to the singer, Agni, for his own person; you are the defense against all who wish to harm or injure, for you, O god, are the universal guardian.
