युवाकु हि शचीनां युवाकु सुमतीनाम् । भूयाम वाजदाव्नाम्
For you are young in powers, young in good thoughts; may we be among those who bestow prizes.
इन्द्रः सहस्रदाव्नां वरुणः शंस्यानाम् । क्रतुर्भवत्युक्थ्यः
Indra is of those who give a thousandfold, Varuṇa of those worthy of praise; their power is worthy of song.
तयोरिदवसा वयं सनेम नि च धीमहि । स्यादुत प्ररेचनम्
By the help of these two may we prosper and hold firm; may there also be advancement.
इन्द्रावरुण वामहं हुवे चित्राय राधसे । अस्मान्सु जिग्युषस्कृतम्
Indra and Varuṇa, I call upon you for splendid bounty; keep us safe from those who wish to conquer us.
इन्द्रावरुण नू नु वां सिषासन्तीषु धीष्वा । अस्मभ्यं शर्म यच्छतम्
Indra and Varuṇa, now indeed, in your eager thoughts, grant us your protection.
प्र वामश्नोतु सुष्टुतिरिन्द्रावरुण यां हुवे । यामृधाथे सधस्तुतिम्
May the well-praised hymn reach you, Indra and Varuṇa, whom I invoke, by which you uphold the seat of praise.
सोमानं स्वरणं कृणुहि ब्रह्मणस्पते । कक्षीवन्तं य औशिजः
O Lord of Prayer, make the Soma resound, with echoing voices, as the inspired one does.
यो रेवान्यो अमीवहा वसुवित्पुष्टिवर्धनः । स नः सिषक्तु यस्तुरः
He who is rich, who drives away disease, who brings wealth and increases prosperity—may that mighty one aid us.
मा नः शंसो अररुषो धूर्तिः प्रणङ्मर्त्यस्य । रक्षा णो ब्रह्मणस्पते
Let not the curse, the anger, or the harm of mortal man reach us; protect us, O Lord of Prayer.
स घा वीरो न रिष्यति यमिन्द्रो ब्रह्मणस्पतिः । सोमो हिनोति मर्त्यम्
That hero indeed does not perish, whom Indra, the Lord of Prayer, and Soma defend from mortal harm.
त्वं तं ब्रह्मणस्पते सोम इन्द्रश्च मर्त्यम् । दक्षिणा पात्वंहसः
You, O Lord of Prayer, together with Soma and Indra, may you grant that mortal the reward, and may the gift protect him from harm.
सदसस्पतिमद्भुतं प्रियमिन्द्रस्य काम्यम् । सनिं मेधामयासिषम्
The wondrous Lord of the Assembly, beloved and desired by Indra, the bringer of wealth and wisdom, we seek with our prayers.
यस्मादृते न सिध्यति यज्ञो विपश्चितश्चन । स धीनां योगमिन्वति
Without whom not even the wise can accomplish the sacrifice—he indeed unites the thoughts of the inspired.
आदृध्नोति हविष्कृतिं प्राञ्चं कृणोत्यध्वरम् । होत्रा देवेषु गच्छति
He strengthens the offering, makes the ritual advance, and his priesthood reaches among the gods.
नराशंसं सुधृष्टममपश्यं सप्रथस्तमम् । दिवो न सद्ममखसम्
I have seen Naraśaṃsa, most mighty and renowned, as splendid as the dwelling of heaven, full of festivity.
प्रति त्यं चारुमध्वरं गोपीथाय प्र हूयसे । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
To that lovely sacrifice you are summoned for protection; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
नहि देवो न मर्त्यो महस्तव क्रतुं परः । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
No god nor mortal surpasses your great power; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
ये महो रजसो विदुर्विश्वे देवासो अद्रुहः । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those who know the vast expanse, all the gods without malice; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
य उग्रा अर्कमानृचुरनाधृष्टास ओजसा । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those fierce ones who have praised the hymn, unconquered in their might; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
ये शुभ्रा घोरवर्पसः सुक्षत्रासो रिशादसः । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those bright ones, terrible in form, strong in rule, and destroyers of foes; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
ये नाकस्याधि रोचने दिवि देवास आसते । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those gods who sit in the shining realm of heaven; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
य ईङ्खयन्ति पर्वतान्तिरः समुद्रमर्णवम् । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those who shake the mountain peaks and cross the ocean's expanse; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
आ ये तन्वन्ति रश्मिभिस्तिरः समुद्रमोजसा । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
Those who stretch forth their rays and, with their might, cross the ocean; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
अभि त्वा पूर्वपीतये सृजामि सोम्यं मधु । मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
For your former draught I pour out the sweet Soma; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
अयं देवाय जन्मने स्तोमो विप्रेभिरासया । अकारि रत्नधातमः
This hymn, fashioned by the inspired, is made for the birth of the god, the bestower of treasures.
य इन्द्राय वचोयुजा ततक्षुर्मनसा हरी । शमीभिर्यज्ञमाशत
They have yoked their thoughts to speech for Indra, and with branches they have prepared the sacrifice.
तक्षन्नासत्याभ्यां परिज्मानं सुखं रथम् । तक्षन्धेनुं सबर्दुघाम्
They fashioned for the Aśvins a swift, comfortable chariot, and fashioned a cow rich in milk.
युवाना पितरा पुनः सत्यमन्त्रा ऋजूयवः । ऋभवो विष्ट्यक्रत
The youthful ones, true in their words and straight in their ways, the Ṛbhus, have remade their parents.
सं वो मदासो अग्मतेन्द्रेण च मरुत्वता । आदित्येभिश्च राजभिः
May your exhilarations come together with Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, and with the royal Ādityas.
उत त्यं चमसं नवं त्वष्टुर्देवस्य निष्कृतम् । अकर्त चतुरः पुनः
And that new vessel, skillfully fashioned by Tvaṣṭṛ, the god, he made four times anew.
