अश्वं न गूळ्हमश्विना दुरेवैरृषिं नरा वृषणा रेभमप्सु । सं तं रिणीथो विप्रुतं दंसोभिर्न वां जूर्यन्ति पूर्व्या कृतानि
Like a hidden horse, O Aśvins, far away, the sage Rebha, O mighty ones, was in the waters; you freed him, wise ones, with your powers—your ancient deeds never fail you.
सुषुप्वांसं न निरृतेरुपस्थे सूर्यं न दस्रा तमसि क्षियन्तम् । शुभे रुक्मं न दर्शतं निखातमुदूपथुरश्विना वन्दनाय
One who slept in the lap of destruction, like the sun dwelling in darkness, O wondrous ones, you revealed, like a shining gold ornament buried, O Aśvins, you brought him forth for praise.
तद्वां नरा शंस्यं पज्रियेण कक्षीवता नासत्या परिज्मन् । शफादश्वस्य वाजिनो जनाय शतं कुम्भाँ असिञ्चतं मधूनाम्
That praiseworthy deed of yours, O men, was performed for Kakṣīvat Pajriya, O Nāsatyas; from the hoof of your swift horse, you poured out a hundred jars of honey for the people.
युवं नरा स्तुवते कृष्णियाय विष्णाप्वं ददथुर्विश्वकाय । घोषायै चित्पितृषदे दुरोणे पतिं जूर्यन्त्या अश्विनावदत्तम्
You, O men, gave Viṣṇāpva to Kṛṣṇīya, who praised you, for all to see; for Ghoṣā, in her father's house, you gave a husband to the one growing old, O Aśvins.
युवं श्यावाय रुशतीमदत्तं महः क्षोणस्याश्विना कण्वाय । प्रवाच्यं तद्वृषणा कृतं वां यन्नार्षदाय श्रवो अध्यधत्तम्
You gave the shining one to Śyāva, O Aśvins, and to Kaṇva, greatness of the earth; this deed of yours, O mighty ones, is to be proclaimed—when you bestowed fame on Nārṣada.
पुरू वर्पांस्यश्विना दधाना नि पेदव ऊहथुराशुमश्वम् । सहस्रसां वाजिनमप्रतीतमहिहनं श्रवस्यं तरुत्रम्
Bearing many forms, O Aśvins, you carried Pedu, the swift horse, the thousandfold, unconquered, serpent-slaying, glorious steed.
एतानि वां श्रवस्या सुदानू ब्रह्माङ्गूषं सदनं रोदस्योः । यद्वां पज्रासो अश्विना हवन्ते यातमिषा च विदुषे च वाजम्
These glorious, generous deeds of yours, O Aśvins, are the song, the praise, the seat between heaven and earth; when the Pajras call you, come with sustenance and strength for the wise.
सूनोर्मानेनाश्विना गृणाना वाजं विप्राय भुरणा रदन्ता । अगस्त्ये ब्रह्मणा वावृधाना सं विश्पलां नासत्यारिणीतम्
With the measure of the sun, O Aśvins, you, delighting in praise, grant strength to the inspired; growing with Agastya's prayer, O Nāsatyas, you restored Viśpalā together.
कुह यान्ता सुष्टुतिं काव्यस्य दिवो नपाता वृषणा शयुत्रा । हिरण्यस्येव कलशं निखातमुदूपथुर्दशमे अश्विनाहन्
Where are you going, O mighty sons of heaven, worthy of praise, powerful, swift? Like a golden vessel hidden, you brought forth the tenth, O Aśvins, on that day.
युवं च्यवानमश्विना जरन्तं पुनर्युवानं चक्रथुः शचीभिः । युवो रथं दुहिता सूर्यस्य सह श्रिया नासत्यावृणीत
You, O Aśvins, made Cyavāna, grown old, young again with your powers; the daughter of the sun chose your chariot, O Nāsatyas, together with splendor.
युवं तुग्राय पूर्व्येभिरेवैः पुनर्मन्यावभवतं युवाना । युवं भुज्युमर्णसो निः समुद्राद्विभिरूहथुरृज्रेभिरश्वैः
You, for Tugra, with your former aids, made his son young again; you carried Bhujyu from the ocean's flood with your swift, strong horses.
अजोहवीदश्विना तौग्र्यो वां प्रोळ्हः समुद्रमव्यथिर्जगन्वान् । निष्टमूहथुः सुयुजा रथेन मनोजवसा वृषणा स्वस्ति
Aja, son of Tugra, called you, O Aśvins, when cast into the sea, unshaken, moving; you carried him out with your well-yoked chariot, swift as thought, O mighty ones, to safety.
अजोहवीदश्विना वर्तिका वामास्नो यत्सीममुञ्चतं वृकस्य । वि जयुषा ययथुः सान्वद्रेर्जातं विष्वाचो अहतं विषेण
Aja called you, O Aśvins, when the quail was in your care, as you released it from the wolf; you went forth with the victorious, you struck down the venomous one, born on the mountain slope.
शतं मेषान्वृक्ये मामहानं तमः प्रणीतमशिवेन पित्रा । आक्षी ऋज्राश्वे अश्विनावधत्तं ज्योतिरन्धाय चक्रथुर्विचक्षे
A hundred sheep you gave to Vṛkya, you removed the great darkness with your kindly father; to Ṛjrāśva, O Aśvins, you gave sight—light for the blind, you made him see.
शुनमन्धाय भरमह्वयत्सा वृकीरश्विना वृषणा नरेति । जारः कनीन इव चक्षदान ऋज्राश्वः शतमेकं च मेषान्
For Ṛjrāśva, who called you, O Aśvins, the wolf-woman said, 'O mighty men!'; the lover, like a youngling, seeing, Ṛjrāśva, with a hundred and one sheep.
मही वामूतिरश्विना मयोभूरुत स्रामं धिष्ण्या सं रिणीथः । अथा युवामिदह्वयत्पुरंधिरागच्छतं सीं वृषणाववोभिः
Great is your help, Ashvins, bringers of delight; you, O mighty ones, remove exhaustion. Then, the housewife called upon you both, O vigorous ones—come to her with your aid.
अधेनुं दस्रा स्तर्यं विषक्तामपिन्वतं शयवे अश्विना गाम् । युवं शचीभिर्विमदाय जायां न्यूहथुः पुरुमित्रस्य योषाम्
You, wondrous Ashvins, made the cow that had strayed and was lost, yield milk for the one lying down. With your powers, you brought the wife to Vimada, the woman of Purumitra.
यवं वृकेणाश्विना वपन्तेषं दुहन्ता मनुषाय दस्रा । अभि दस्युं बकुरेणा धमन्तोरु ज्योतिश्चक्रथुरार्याय
With the wolf, Ashvins, you threshed barley; you, wondrous ones, milked the cow for the man. Against the Dasyu, with Bakura, you thundered; you made wide light for the Arya.
* आथर्वणायाश्विना दधीचेऽश्व्यं शिरः प्रत्यैरयतम् । स वां मधु प्र वोचदृतायन्त्वाष्ट्रं यद्दस्रावपिकक्ष्यं वाम्
For Atharvan Dadhyach, Ashvins, you rejoined the horse's head. He spoke sweet words to you, in truth, when you, wondrous ones, fitted your honeyed secret.
सदा कवी सुमतिमा चके वां विश्वा धियो अश्विना प्रावतं मे । अस्मे रयिं नासत्या बृहन्तमपत्यसाचं श्रुत्यं रराथाम्
The wise one always sought your favor; you, Ashvins, have protected all my thoughts. Grant us, O Nasatyas, abundant, renowned wealth, rich in offspring.
हिरण्यहस्तमश्विना रराणा पुत्रं नरा वध्रिमत्या अदत्तम् । त्रिधा ह श्यावमश्विना विकस्तमुज्जीवस ऐरयतं सुदानू
You, Ashvins, gave to Vadhrimati a son with golden hands, O men. Thrice, O Ashvins, you restored the dark, deformed one to life, O generous ones.
एतानि वामश्विना वीर्याणि प्र पूर्व्याण्यायवोऽवोचन् । ब्रह्म कृण्वन्तो वृषणा युवभ्यां सुवीरासो विदथमा वदेम
These, Ashvins, are your ancient heroic deeds, which the early songs have proclaimed. Performing sacred rites, O vigorous ones, may we, with strong sons, speak in your assembly.
आ वां रथो अश्विना श्येनपत्वा सुमृळीकः स्ववाँ यात्वर्वाङ् । यो मर्त्यस्य मनसो जवीयान्त्रिवन्धुरो वृषणा वातरंहाः
May your chariot, Ashvins, swift as a falcon, gracious, self-guided, come here—faster than the mind of mortals, three-yoked, mighty, wind-driven.
त्रिवन्धुरेण त्रिवृता रथेन त्रिचक्रेण सुवृता यातमर्वाक् । पिन्वतं गा जिन्वतमर्वतो नो वर्धयतमश्विना वीरमस्मे
With your three-yoked, triple-formed, well-wheeled chariot, come near. Make the cows yield, enrich our horses, and, Ashvins, increase our hero.
प्रवद्यामना सुवृता रथेन दस्राविमं शृणुतं श्लोकमद्रेः । किमङ्ग वां प्रत्यवर्तिं गमिष्ठाहुर्विप्रासो अश्विना पुराजाः
With your well-wheeled chariot, O wondrous ones, listen to this song of praise from the singer. What, indeed, do the poets say is your swiftest returning path, Ashvins, from ancient times?
आ वां श्येनासो अश्विना वहन्तु रथे युक्तास आशवः पतंगाः । ये अप्तुरो दिव्यासो न गृध्रा अभि प्रयो नासत्या वहन्ति
Let your falcons, Ashvins, yoked to the chariot, swift-flying, winged, bring you here. Those tireless, heavenly ones, like vultures, bring you, Nasatyas, to the offering.
आ वां रथं युवतिस्तिष्ठदत्र जुष्ट्वी नरा दुहिता सूर्यस्य । परि वामश्वा वपुषः पतंगा वयो वहन्त्वरुषा अभीके
Here stands your chariot, Ashvins, the maiden, beloved, daughter of the Sun, has mounted it. Around you, the splendid, winged horses, the russet birds, carry you swiftly.
उद्वन्दनमैरतं दंसनाभिरुद्रेभं दस्रा वृषणा शचीभिः । निष्टौग्र्यं पारयथः समुद्रात्पुनश्च्यवानं चक्रथुर्युवानम्
You raised up Vandana with your healing powers, O wondrous, mighty Ashvins. You carried Taugra's son across the sea, and made Chyavana young again.
युवमत्रयेऽवनीताय तप्तमूर्जमोमानमश्विनावधत्तम् । युवं कण्वायापिरिप्ताय चक्षुः प्रत्यधत्तं सुष्टुतिं जुजुषाणा
You gave to Atrayi, who was in need, the pressed, heated nourishment, Ashvins. You restored sight to the blind Kanva, gladly accepting his good praise.
युवं धेनुं शयवे नाधितायापिन्वतमश्विना पूर्व्याय । अमुञ्चतं वर्तिकामंहसो निः प्रति जङ्घां विश्पलाया अधत्तम्
You made the cow yield milk for the needy Shayu, Ashvins, in ancient times. You released Vartika from distress, and set the leg again for Vishpala.
