Let us not cut off the reins, as if falling short, while following the powers of our fathers; the mighty ones, Indra and Agni, delight in whom? For those stones are indeed at the lap of the altar.
By you two, O Indra and Agni, the divine altar, longing for intoxication, presses the Soma; you two, O Ashvins, with auspicious hands and fair palms, come running and mix it with sweetness in the waters.
You two, Indra and Agni, have been heard of as the most powerful in the division of wealth and in the slaying of Vritra; so, seated on the sacred grass at this sacrifice, delight yourselves in the pressed Soma among the people.
You shine forth for the peoples in battles, you spread over the earth and the sky; you excel among rivers and mountains, O Indra and Agni, surpassing all the worlds in greatness.
Come, teach and guide us, O wielders of the thunderbolt; protect us, Indra and Agni, with your powers. These are your rays, O Sun, by which our fathers attained kinship with you.
O destroyers of cities, teach us, O thunderbolt-handed ones; protect us, Indra and Agni, in battles. May Mitra, Varuna, Aditi, the river, the earth, and the sky not harm us.
My prayer has been stretched out, and it protects me again; the sweetest thought is praised for the hymn. This is the ocean, here for all the gods; O Ribhus, be satisfied with the offering made with 'svaha.'
When they wish to enjoy the abundance, some of my waters flow away, turned aside; O Ribhus of the Sudhanvanas, come with greatness to the house of the worshipper of Savitar.
May Savitar grant you immortality, the hidden thing that you have made known; you even made one drinking cup of the god into four, though it was only one.
Though mortal, they attained immortality by their skill and swiftness; the Ribhus of the Sudhanvanas, with the vision of the sun, were questioned together in a year by their thoughts.
Like a field, they measured out with their skill; the Ribhus made one vessel into four. Honored, not despised, seeking fame among the immortals.
Let us offer our thought, like clarified butter, among men in the midspace, with knowledge; you who, with the swiftness of your father, O Ribhus, ascended the prize of strength through the realm of the sky.
Ribhu is not Indra, but is newer in might; Ribhu, with prizes and riches, is a giver of wealth. With your help, O gods, may we stand firm in the beloved day of contest, among those who press Soma.
The Ribhus fashioned a cow from the hide, and again created the mother with the calf; the Sudhanvanas, with their skill, O men, made the parents young again.
With prizes, grant us the winning of wealth, O Ribhu; even Indra has seen your wondrous bounty. May Mitra, Varuna, Aditi, the river, the earth, and the sky not harm us.
They fashioned a well-made chariot with skill, they fashioned the steeds, bearers of Indra, rich in strength; the Ribhus fashioned for their fathers a youthful vigor, and for the calf, they fashioned the mother together with the earth.
Bring to us, for the sacrifice, the two Ribhus, with wisdom, skill, and abundant offspring; grant us food for strength and discernment, so that we may dwell among all-powerful peoples. May you bestow upon us vigor for our band, endowed with your own might.
Fashion for us, O Ribhus, prosperity—prosperity for our chariot, prosperity for our journey, O men. May you grant us victorious prosperity, conquering everywhere, kin after kin, in battles, with skill.
I invoke Indra, the lord of the Ribhus, for help; the Ribhus, the Maruts, for the enjoyment of Soma. May both Mitra and Varuna, and now the Ashvins, inspire us for prosperity and victorious thought.
Let the Ribhus unite prosperity for the bearer; let the victorious banner bring it to us. May Mitra, Varuna, Aditi, the river, the earth, and the sky not diminish it for us.
