We have conquered, we have sat, we have become free from guilt; whether waking, dreaming, or intending evil—may that which we hate go away, and whoever hates us, may he go away.
If the gods, impelled by the dove, or sent by Nirṛti, have brought this here, for that we offer praise and make atonement; may there be well-being for our bipeds and quadrupeds.
May the dove, sent by the gods, be auspicious for us; may the divine bird not bring harm to our homes. May Agni, the priest, accept our offering; may the winged missile not choose us.
The winged missile does not harm us; it makes its place in the hearth. May there be well-being for our cows and for our people; may the divine dove not injure us here.
What the owl utters is in vain; what the dove marks in the fire is in vain. To whom this messenger is sent, to him, to Yama, to Death, let there be homage.
With a hymn, drive away the dove; I urge it on—rejoicing, lead the cattle around. Uniting, leave behind all evils, and fly forth toward strength and stability.
Make me a bull among my peers, victorious over rivals, a slayer of enemies, illustrious, a lord of cattle and cows.
I am unassailable, unharmed, like Indra among rivals; beneath my feet all my adversaries are pressed down.
Here and now I bind you both, as a bowstring binds the bow; O Lord of Speech, silence them, so they may speak no word against me.
I have come forth victorious, by the power of the All-Creator; I have seized your resolve, your vow, your assembly.
Having taken your welfare and security, may I become supreme; I have stepped upon your heads—rise up from beneath my feet, as frogs rise from the water.
For you, Indra, this sweet drink is poured; you are the lord of the pressed soma vessel. Grant us wealth with many heroes; you burn away the foe and win the heavens.
We call upon you, O Shining One, for the splendid, exhilarating soma pressed for you; come to this sacrifice, be aware and approach, Maghavan, whom we invoke as the conqueror of foes.
In the law of king Soma, of Varuna, in the protection of Brihaspati and Anumati, today, O Maghavan, in your praise I have consumed the soma vessels, O Creator and Ordainer.
Having been born, I made the offering and moved about; the first sage has cleansed this hymn. With the pressed soma, whatever I have attained for you both—Vishvamitra and Jamadagni—in the house.
Now, the greatness of the wind's chariot: it comes breaking, roaring, its sound thundering; it touches the sky, makes the dawns red, and moves, raising dust from the earth.
He is set in motion, following the path of the wind; women, like companions, go with him together. With them yoked, the god rides his chariot—he is the king of all the worlds.
Driven along the paths in the midspace, he never settles in any one day; the friend of waters, firstborn of order—where indeed was he born, from where did he arise?
He is the soul of the gods, the embryo of the world; this god moves as he wills. His sounds are heard, but not his form; to that Wind we offer our oblation.
May the gracious wind blow upon us, may the nourishing plants grow; may the rich, life-giving, milky ones drink for our welfare—O Rudra, be gentle.
Those that are of one form, of many forms, or of a single form, whose names Agni knows through sacrifice, those whom the Angirases made for ascetic heat—to them, O Parjanya, grant great protection.
Those who have produced their bodies among the gods, whose every form Soma knows—to those, swelling with milk, rich in offspring, O Indra, grant increase in the cattle-pen.
The Lord of Progeny has given these to me, in agreement with all the gods and ancestors; being auspicious, may they come to our cattle-pen—may we dwell together with offspring among them.
Let the shining, mighty one drink the honeyed soma, granting long life, delighting the lord of sacrifice; driven by the wind, he protects by his own nature, nourishes the people, and shines in many ways.
The shining, mighty one, well-nourished, best giver of strength, established in the law, set firm in the seat of heaven; slayer of enemies, slayer of Vritra, destroyer of demons, light is born—slayer of Asuras and rivals.
This is the highest of lights, the supreme radiance, called the all-conquering, wealth-conquering, great one. The Sun, mighty in brilliance, spreads wide before the eyes, unfailing in strength and power.
Shining forth with light, go to the realm of heaven, the luminous expanse of the sky, by which all these worlds are upheld, by the all-working one, with the support of all the gods.
You, Indra, have guided that chariot from the assembly, filled with Soma; you have heard the call of the Soma-presser.
You have taken the head of the sacrifice, the skin as well; you have entered the house of the Soma-presser.
You, Indra, have often released that mortal, the Vena, from the bonds of the foe, for the sake of the one who thinks of you.
