मम पुत्राः शत्रुहणोऽथो मे दुहिता विराट् । उताहमस्मि संजया पत्यौ मे श्लोक उत्तमः
My sons are slayers of foes, and my daughter is renowned; I am victorious, and my praise is supreme with my husband.
येनेन्द्रो हविषा कृत्व्यभवद्द्युम्न्युत्तमः । इदं तदक्रि देवा असपत्ना किलाभुवम्
By that offering with which Indra became most glorious and powerful, O gods, may this be done, so that I may be without rivals.
असपत्ना सपत्नघ्नी जयन्त्यभिभूवरी । आवृक्षमन्यासां वर्चो राधो अस्थेयसामिव
Without rivals, victorious over rivals, triumphant and overpowering, may I cover the brilliance and wealth of others, as if of those who are not steadfast.
समजैषमिमा अहं सपत्नीरभिभूवरी । यथाहमस्य वीरस्य विराजानि जनस्य च
I have overcome these rival women, triumphant and overpowering, so that I may shine forth among this man’s people and in his household.
तीव्रस्याभिवयसो अस्य पाहि सर्वरथा वि हरी इह मुञ्च । इन्द्र मा त्वा यजमानासो अन्ये नि रीरमन्तुभ्यमिमे सुतासः
Protect him from this intense attack, release him here from all sides, O Indra; let not other worshippers detain you, let these pressed offerings be for you.
तुभ्यं सुतास्तुभ्यमु सोत्वासस्त्वां गिरः श्वात्र्या आ ह्वयन्ति । इन्द्रेदमद्य सवनं जुषाणो विश्वस्य विद्वाँ इह पाहि सोमम्
For you are the pressed offerings, for you the libations; the hymns call you with their voice; Indra, delighting in this pressing, knowing all, drink the Soma here.
य उशता मनसा सोममस्मै सर्वहृदा देवकामः सुनोति । न गा इन्द्रस्तस्य परा ददाति प्रशस्तमिच्चारुमस्मै कृणोति
He who, with eager mind and all his heart, presses Soma for you, desiring the gods—Indra does not take away his cattle, but grants him praise and beauty.
अनुस्पष्टो भवत्येषो अस्य यो अस्मै रेवान्न सुनोति सोमम् । निररत्नौ मघवा तं दधाति ब्रह्मद्विषो हन्त्यनानुदिष्टः
This one becomes renowned who presses Soma for him with abundance; Maghavan deprives of wealth the one who does not offer, and destroys the haters of prayer.
अश्वायन्तो गव्यन्तो वाजयन्तो हवामहे त्वोपगन्तवा उ । आभूषन्तस्ते सुमतौ नवायां वयमिन्द्र त्वा शुनं हुवेम
Desiring horses, desiring cattle, desiring strength, we call upon you; come to us, O Indra. In your new favor may we be adorned; O Indra, we call upon you for blessing.
मुञ्चामि त्वा हविषा जीवनाय कमज्ञातयक्ष्मादुत राजयक्ष्मात् । ग्राहिर्जग्राह यदि वैतदेनं तस्या इन्द्राग्नी प्र मुमुक्तमेनम्
I release you with an offering for life, from known and royal disease; if the seizure has seized him, by this, O Indra and Agni, release him from it.
यदि क्षितायुर्यदि वा परेतो यदि मृत्योरन्तिकं नीत एव । तमा हरामि निरृतेरुपस्थादस्पार्षमेनं शतशारदाय
Whether his life is spent or he has departed, or has been brought near to the realm of death, I draw him away from the lap of destruction; let him not touch it, let him live a hundred autumns.
सहस्राक्षेण शतशारदेन शतायुषा हविषाहार्षमेनम् । शतं यथेमं शरदो नयातीन्द्रो विश्वस्य दुरितस्य पारम्
With a thousand-eyed, hundred-autumned, hundred-lived offering, I have taken him; may Indra lead him through a hundred autumns, beyond all misfortune.
शतं जीव शरदो वर्धमानः शतं हेमन्ताञ्छतमु वसन्तान् । शतमिन्द्राग्नी सविता बृहस्पतिः शतायुषा हविषेमं पुनर्दुः
Live a hundred autumns, growing, a hundred winters, a hundred springs; may Indra, Agni, Savitar, and Brihaspati restore him with a hundred years of life.
आहार्षं त्वाविदं त्वा पुनरागाः पुनर्नव । सर्वाङ्ग सर्वं ते चक्षुः सर्वमायुश्च तेऽविदम्
I have taken you, I have recognized you; you have returned, renewed. All your limbs, all your sight, and all your life I have recognized.
ब्रह्मणाग्निः संविदानो रक्षोहा बाधतामितः । अमीवा यस्ते गर्भं दुर्णामा योनिमाशये
May Agni, united with the priestly power, the destroyer of demons, drive away from here the disease that has seized your embryo, the evil one who dwells in the womb.
यस्ते गर्भममीवा दुर्णामा योनिमाशये । अग्निष्टं ब्रह्मणा सह निष्क्रव्यादमनीनशत्
The disease that has seized your embryo, the evil one who dwells in the womb—may Agni, together with the priestly power, drive it out, the devourer of flesh, the devourer of the living.
यस्ते हन्ति पतयन्तं निषत्स्नुं यः सरीसृपम् । जातं यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever harms you, whether flying, sitting, or crawling, whoever is born and seeks to harm you, from here we destroy him.
यस्त ऊरू विहरत्यन्तरा दम्पती शये । योनिं यो अन्तरारेळ्हि तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever moves between your thighs, who lies between husband and wife, whoever enters the womb, from here we destroy him.
यस्त्वा भ्राता पतिर्भूत्वा जारो भूत्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever, being your brother, becomes your husband or lover and lies with you, whoever seeks to harm your offspring, from here we destroy him.
यस्त्वा स्वप्नेन तमसा मोहयित्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever, having deluded you with sleep and darkness, lies down, whoever seeks to harm your offspring—him, from here, we destroy.
अक्षीभ्यां ते नासिकाभ्यां कर्णाभ्यां छुबुकादधि । यक्ष्मं शीर्षण्यं मस्तिष्काज्जिह्वाया वि वृहामि ते
From your eyes, your nostrils, your ears, from beneath your chin, I remove the disease from your head, from your brain, and from your tongue.
ग्रीवाभ्यस्त उष्णिहाभ्यः कीकसाभ्यो अनूक्यात् । यक्ष्मं दोषण्यमंसाभ्यां बाहुभ्यां वि वृहामि ते
From your neck, from your headbands, from your coughs, from your throat, I remove the disease from your shoulders, from your flesh, and from your arms.
आन्त्रेभ्यस्ते गुदाभ्यो वनिष्ठोर्हृदयादधि । यक्ष्मं मतस्नाभ्यां यक्नः प्लाशिभ्यो वि वृहामि ते
From your entrails, from your rectum, from your anus, from your heart, I remove the disease from your fat, from your liver, and from your spleen.
ऊरुभ्यां ते अष्ठीवद्भ्यां पार्ष्णिभ्यां प्रपदाभ्याम् । यक्ष्मं श्रोणिभ्यां भासदाद्भंससो वि वृहामि ते
From your thighs, from your bones, from your heels, from the soles of your feet, I remove the disease from your hips, from your shining parts, and from your buttocks.
मेहनाद्वनंकरणाल्लोमभ्यस्ते नखेभ्यः । यक्ष्मं सर्वस्मादात्मनस्तमिदं वि वृहामि ते
From your genitals, from your organs, from your hair, from your nails, I remove this disease from your entire self.
अङ्गादङ्गाल्लोम्नोलोम्नो जातं पर्वणिपर्वणि । यक्ष्मं सर्वस्मादात्मनस्तमिदं वि वृहामि ते
From every limb, from every hair, born in every joint, I remove this disease from your entire self.
अपेहि मनसस्पतेऽप क्राम परश्चर । परो निरृत्या आ चक्ष्व बहुधा जीवतो मनः
Depart, O Lord of Mind, go away, move elsewhere; show yourself far from misfortune, let the mind of the living be manifold.
भद्रं वै वरं वृणते भद्रं युञ्जन्ति दक्षिणम् । भद्रं वैवस्वते चक्षुर्बहुत्रा जीवतो मनः
Indeed, they choose what is auspicious, they employ the right hand for good; may the eye of Vaivasvata be auspicious, may the mind of the living be manifold in many ways.
यदाशसा निःशसाभिशसोपारिम जाग्रतो यत्स्वपन्तः । अग्निर्विश्वान्यप दुष्कृतान्यजुष्टान्यारे अस्मद्दधातु
Whatever by desire, by exhalation, by curses, or by waking or sleeping we have done—may Agni remove all those evil deeds, those displeasing acts, far from us.
यदिन्द्र ब्रह्मणस्पतेऽभिद्रोहं चरामसि । प्रचेता न आङ्गिरसो द्विषतां पात्वंहसः
O Indra, Lord of Speech, whatever offense we commit, may the wise Angirases protect us from the sins of our enemies.
