This, indeed, O immortal Indra, is your strength which cannot be subdued; skill, all-life, for the wise creator.
This, among us, is the sage Ribhus, the strong one, for the generous; this one bears the upright, slender exhilaration, the Ribhus, not the act of exhilaration.
Eager, for the falcon, the doer, among their own, born in the lineage; let the sharp arrows shine forth.
Whom the splendid-winged one, the far-flying, the son of the falcon, brought; who is the path of the hundred-wheeled one.
Whom your falcon, beautiful, brought by foot, the ruddy, the measure of the exhilarating drink; by this, the vital force is extended, life is awakened, by this, kinship is awakened.
Thus, O Indra, with the Soma, even among the gods, you have sustained the great force; by will, the vital force is extended, O skillful one, by will, this Soma is pressed for us.
I dig up this herb, the most powerful plant, by which a rival wife is overcome, by which a husband is obtained.
O upward-leafed, fortunate one, chosen by the gods, mighty; drive away my rival wife, make my husband mine alone.
I am the uppermost, the superior, let me surpass the superior ones; and as for the rival wife who is beneath me, let her be among the inferior ones.
I do not take her name, nor does she find delight among these people; let us send the rival wife far away, to a distant place.
I am the one who endures, and you too are enduring; let us both, being strong, together overcome my rival wife.
I have placed you above the rival, and I have set you above her with greater strength; let not your mind follow after me, like a cow after her calf, or like water flowing along a path.
This one is wild, truly wild, as if she is perishing; why does she not ask about the village, nor does she find you, as if in fear?
When the cicada calls out to the bellowing bull, it is as if he is running with pounding feet; the wild one is made great.
At times, she grazes like cows, at times she appears like a dwelling; at times, the wild one moves at evening like a cart.
He calls to the cow with his voice, he strikes with his stick; dwelling in the wild at evening, he thinks, 'I have made a sound.'
The wild one does not harm, unless another approaches; having eaten the sweet fruit, he lies down as he pleases.
Fragrant with ointment, sweet-smelling, abundant in food, untilled—thus I have praised the wild one, the mother of beasts.
I place faith in you, the foremost, for your greatness; you split open the waters, O heroic one, when you slew Vritra; when both heaven and earth tremble before you, even the mountains and the earth shake with your might.
You, flawless in your powers, with wondrous skill, struck down the cunning Vritra with your renowned mind; men choose you in contests for cattle, they call on you in every sacrifice and offering.
Be present, much-invoked, among these generous givers, O Maghavan, who have not neglected the offering; they praise you in their households and among their children, desiring the prize, the swift steed, and wealth.
He alone truly enjoys the well-bestowed wealth, who perceives your swift favor; O Maghavan, strengthened by you, the sacrificer quickly wins the prize and riches among men.
You, praised for your greatness, make the host vast, O Maghavan; grant us wealth; you are to us as Mitra and Varuna, as a wise father, a generous distributor.
Having pressed the Soma, O Indra, we praise you; being mighty, bring us the prize of strength; grant us the good fortune, by which, with your help, we may prosper with our offspring.
You are mighty, O Indra, born a hero; you have conquered the Dasa hosts together with the Sun; you hold the hidden, secret thing concealed in the waters, like Soma at the spring.
The noble one, wise, honors the hymns, knowing, the inspired one brings forth the favor of the seers; may we be among those who strive with Soma, and for you, who are carried on the chariot, with offerings.
These hymns, O Indra, I declare for you; give strength to men, O heroic one; with them, be helpful to those who seek you, and protect those who praise and worship you.
Hear the call, O Indra, hero, mighty one; you are praised with the songs of Vena. Come to your seat rich with ghee, where the singers, like waves with their depths, pour forth their voices.
When Savitar, with his devices, set the earth in her place, and with his support made firm the sky, he milked the restless midspace like a horse, and Savitar bound the ocean, unshaken, in its place.
Where the ocean is propped up and opened, there Savitar, the child of the waters, knows its path. From there the wide expanse arose upward, from there heaven and earth spread out unshaken.
