आप इद्वा उ भेषजीरापो अमीवचातनीः । आपः सर्वस्य भेषजीस्तास्ते कृण्वन्तु भेषजम्
Waters indeed are healing, waters drive away disease; waters are the remedy for all, may they prepare healing for you.
हस्ताभ्यां दशशाखाभ्यां जिह्वा वाचः पुरोगवी । अनामयित्नुभ्यां त्वा ताभ्यां त्वोप स्पृशामसि
With the two hands, ten-branched, and the tongue, leader of speech, with these two that ward off illness, with them we touch you.
तव त्य इन्द्र सख्येषु वह्नय ऋतं मन्वाना व्यदर्दिरुर्वलम् । यत्रा दशस्यन्नुषसो रिणन्नपः कुत्साय मन्मन्नह्यश्च दंसयः
In your friendship, O Indra, the fires, thinking on truth, have split open the broad expanse; where, rejoicing, the dawns have cleared away the waters for Kutsa by our hymn and by the teeth.
अवासृजः प्रस्वः श्वञ्चयो गिरीनुदाज उस्रा अपिबो मधु प्रियम् । अवर्धयो वनिनो अस्य दंससा शुशोच सूर्य ऋतजातया गिरा
You released the swelling streams, the howling ones, from the mountains; you drank the sweet beloved honey; you strengthened the forests by your might; the sun shone forth with speech born of truth.
वि सूर्यो मध्ये अमुचद्रथं दिवो विदद्दासाय प्रतिमानमार्यः । दृळ्हानि पिप्रोरसुरस्य मायिन इन्द्रो व्यास्यच्चकृवाँ ऋजिश्वना
The sun loosed his chariot in the midst of heaven; the noble one gave a sign to the Dasa; Indra shattered the firm works of the cunning Asura, having acted with Rjishvan.
अनाधृष्टानि धृषितो व्यास्यन्निधीँरदेवाँ अमृणदयास्यः । मासेव सूर्यो वसु पुर्यमा ददे गृणानः शत्रूँरशृणाद्विरुक्मता
The unconquered ones, being conquered, he scattered; the gods, his allies, did not restrain him; like the sun in a month, he set wealth in the city; praising, he heard the enemies with shining wealth.
अयुद्धसेनो विभ्वा विभिन्दता दाशद्वृत्रहा तुज्यानि तेजते । इन्द्रस्य वज्रादबिभेदभिश्नथः प्राक्रामच्छुन्ध्यूरजहादुषा अनः
With an unarmed host, O mighty one, you break apart, O slayer of Vritra, you shine in battles; from Indra's thunderbolt, the strong one did not break; the swift one advanced, the dawns drove away the chariot.
एता त्या ते श्रुत्यानि केवला यदेक एकमकृणोरयज्ञम् । मासां विधानमदधा अधि द्यवि त्वया विभिन्नं भरति प्रधिं पिता
These are your renowned deeds, unique, when you alone performed a sacrifice for one; you established the order of months in heaven; by you, the father supports the wide expanse, having divided it.
सूर्यरश्मिर्हरिकेशः पुरस्तात्सविता ज्योतिरुदयाँ अजस्रम् । तस्य पूषा प्रसवे याति विद्वान्सम्पश्यन्विश्वा भुवनानि गोपाः
The sun's ray, tawny-haired, in front, Savitar unceasingly brings forth the light; in his impulse, Pūṣan goes, knowing, seeing all the worlds, the herdsman.
नृचक्षा एष दिवो मध्य आस्त आपप्रिवान्रोदसी अन्तरिक्षम् । स विश्वाचीरभि चष्टे घृताचीरन्तरा पूर्वमपरं च केतुम्
This one, with human sight, sits in the midst of heaven, delighting in the two worlds and the midspace; he looks upon all things, shining with ghee, between the former and the latter beacon.
रायो बुध्नः संगमनो वसूनां विश्वा रूपाभि चष्टे शचीभिः । देव इव सविता सत्यधर्मेन्द्रो न तस्थौ समरे धनानाम्
The foundation of wealth, the gathering of riches, he beholds all forms with his powers; like a god, Savitar of true law, Indra did not stand still in the contest for treasures.
विश्वावसुं सोम गन्धर्वमापो ददृशुषीस्तदृतेना व्यायन् । तदन्ववैदिन्द्रो रारहाण आसां परि सूर्यस्य परिधीँरपश्यत्
Viśvāvasu, Soma, the Gandharva, the waters saw, moving according to that truth; after that, Indra, seeking, found their boundaries, and saw the circles of the sun.
विश्वावसुरभि तन्नो गृणातु दिव्यो गन्धर्वो रजसो विमानः । यद्वा घा सत्यमुत यन्न विद्म धियो हिन्वानो धिय इन्नो अव्याः
May Viśvāvasu, the heavenly Gandharva, who moves in the expanse, praise us; whether that is true or what we do not know, guiding our thoughts, may he grant us safety in our thoughts.
सस्निमविन्दच्चरणे नदीनामपावृणोद्दुरो अश्मव्रजानाम् । प्रासां गन्धर्वो अमृतानि वोचदिन्द्रो दक्षं परि जानादहीनाम्
He found the ford at the river's crossing, opened the path through the stony barriers; the Gandharva proclaimed immortal words, and Indra fully understood the skill of the offerings.
अग्ने तव श्रवो वयो महि भ्राजन्ते अर्चयो विभावसो । बृहद्भानो शवसा वाजमुक्थ्यं दधासि दाशुषे कवे
Agni, your fame and vigor are great; your radiant flames shine brightly, O luminous one. With your vast brilliance and might, you bestow strength and praise upon the worshipper, O sage.
पावकवर्चाः शुक्रवर्चा अनूनवर्चा उदियर्षि भानुना । पुत्रो मातरा विचरन्नुपावसि पृणक्षि रोदसी उभे
You rise with pure, shining, undiminished radiance; as the son, you move between mother and father, filling both realms, earth and sky.
ऊर्जो नपाज्जातवेदः सुशस्तिभिर्मन्दस्व धीतिभिर्हितः । त्वे इषः सं दधुर्भूरिवर्पसश्चित्रोतयो वामजाताः
Born of nourishment, O Jātavedas, delight in our good praises, established by wise thoughts. To you, the offerings are brought, O one of abundant form, wondrously born, giver of strength.
इरज्यन्नग्ने प्रथयस्व जन्तुभिरस्मे रायो अमर्त्य । स दर्शतस्य वपुषो वि राजसि पृणक्षि सानसिं क्रतुम्
Agni, spread yourself among the people, grant us immortal wealth. You shine with the beauty of the visible form, you fill us with wisdom and power.
इष्कर्तारमध्वरस्य प्रचेतसं क्षयन्तं राधसो महः । रातिं वामस्य सुभगां महीमिषं दधासि सानसिं रयिम्
You are the wise maker of the sacrifice, the one who preserves the great riches. You bestow the delightful, abundant gifts, and grant us enduring wealth.
ऋतावानं महिषं विश्वदर्शतमग्निं सुम्नाय दधिरे पुरो जनाः । श्रुत्कर्णं सप्रथस्तमं त्वा गिरा दैव्यं मानुषा युगा
The people have placed Agni, the mighty, righteous one, all-seeing, for their favor. With attentive ears, most renowned, you are invoked by speech, divine through all human ages.
अग्ने अच्छा वदेह नः प्रत्यङ्नः सुमना भव । प्र नो यच्छ विशस्पते धनदा असि नस्त्वम्
Agni, let us speak to you; be favorable and kindly disposed to us. Grant us wealth, O lord of the people, for you are our giver.
प्र नो यच्छत्वर्यमा प्र भगः प्र बृहस्पतिः । प्र देवाः प्रोत सूनृता रायो देवी ददातु नः
Let Aryaman, Bhaga, and Brihaspati grant us; let the gods, let good speech, let the divine wealth bestow upon us.
सोमं राजानमवसेऽग्निं गीर्भिर्हवामहे । आदित्यान्विष्णुं सूर्यं ब्रह्माणं च बृहस्पतिम्
We invoke Soma the king for help, Agni with hymns; the Ādityas, Vishnu, Sūrya, Brahman, and Brihaspati.
इन्द्रवायू बृहस्पतिं सुहवेह हवामहे । यथा नः सर्व इज्जनः संगत्यां सुमना असत्
We call Indra and Vāyu, Brihaspati, with good invocation; so that all people may be united and kindly toward us.
अर्यमणं बृहस्पतिमिन्द्रं दानाय चोदय । वातं विष्णुं सरस्वतीं सवितारं च वाजिनम्
Urge Aryaman, Brihaspati, and Indra to give; Vāta, Vishnu, Sarasvatī, Savitar, and the swift one.
त्वं नो अग्ने अग्निभिर्ब्रह्म यज्ञं च वर्धय । त्वं नो देवतातये रायो दानाय चोदय
You, Agni, with the fires, increase our prayer and sacrifice; you, for the divine assembly, urge the giving of wealth.
अयमग्ने जरिता त्वे अभूदपि सहसः सूनो नह्यन्यदस्त्याप्यम् । भद्रं हि शर्म त्रिवरूथमस्ति त आरे हिंसानामप दिद्युमा कृधि
This worshipper has come to you, Agni, son of strength; there is nothing else to rely on. There is indeed a threefold, auspicious shelter; keep harm far away, make us free from danger.
प्रवत्ते अग्ने जनिमा पितूयतः साचीव विश्वा भुवना न्यृञ्जसे । प्र सप्तयः प्र सनिषन्त नो धियः पुरश्चरन्ति पशुपा इव त्मना
Agni, you are born from the origin of your father; you cleanse all worlds like a companion. The seven, the wise ones, bring us thoughts, advancing like herdsmen with their own nature.
उत वा उ परि वृणक्षि बप्सद्बहोरग्न उलपस्य स्वधावः । उत खिल्या उर्वराणां भवन्ति मा ते हेतिं तविषीं चुक्रुधाम
You choose, Agni, whether to spread above or below, O powerful one, O lord of the altar. Even the fallow fields become fertile; let not your weapon, your force, be angry with us.
यदुद्वतो निवतो यासि बप्सत्पृथगेषि प्रगर्धिनीव सेना । यदा ते वातो अनुवाति शोचिर्वप्तेव श्मश्रु वपसि प्र भूम
When you go from the heights to the lowlands, O powerful one, you move separately like an advancing army. When your flame follows the wind, you spread your beard like a barber.
