नकिर्देवा मिनीमसि नकिरा योपयामसि मन्त्रश्रुत्यं चरामसि । पक्षेभिरपिकक्षेभिरत्राभि सं रभामहे
No god do we seek to diminish, nor do we approach anyone with hostility; we live according to the heard mantra. With wings, even with side-wings, here we strive together.
यस्मिन्वृक्षे सुपलाशे देवैः सम्पिबते यमः । अत्रा नो विश्पतिः पिता पुराणाँ अनु वेनति
On that tree with beautiful leaves, Yama drinks together with the gods; there our ancient lord, our father, follows after.
पुराणाँ अनुवेनन्तं चरन्तं पापयामुया । असूयन्नभ्यचाकशं तस्मा अस्पृहयं पुनः
Those ancient ones, following after, looked with envy upon the one wandering with evil; from him I turned away, no longer desiring.
यं कुमार नवं रथमचक्रं मनसाकृणोः । एकेषं विश्वतः प्राञ्चमपश्यन्नधि तिष्ठसि
O youth, the new chariot with wheels you have fashioned in your mind; some saw it facing all directions, and you stand upon it.
यं कुमार प्रावर्तयो रथं विप्रेभ्यस्परि । तं सामानु प्रावर्तत समितो नाव्याहितम्
O youth, you set the chariot in motion for the sages; the song set it in motion together, the assembly was not left behind.
कः कुमारमजनयद्रथं को निरवर्तयत् । कः स्वित्तदद्य नो ब्रूयादनुदेयी यथाभवत्
Who begot the youth? Who fashioned the chariot? Who indeed today will tell us how the sequence came to be?
यथाभवदनुदेयी ततो अग्रमजायत । पुरस्ताद्बुध्न आततः पश्चान्निरयणं कृतम्
As the sequence came to be, from that the first was born; the base was stretched out in front, the axle was made behind.
इदं यमस्य सादनं देवमानं यदुच्यते । इयमस्य धम्यते नाळीरयं गीर्भिः परिष्कृतः
This is the seat of Yama, which is called the divine abode; here his measuring-cup is placed, adorned with words.
केश्यग्निं केशी विषं केशी बिभर्ति रोदसी । केशी विश्वं स्वर्दृशे केशीदं ज्योतिरुच्यते
The long-haired one bears fire, the long-haired one bears poison, the long-haired one bears earth and sky; the long-haired one sees all the world, the long-haired one is called this light.
मुनयो वातरशनाः पिशङ्गा वसते मला । वातस्यानु ध्राजिं यन्ति यद्देवासो अविक्षत
The sages, with wind as their girdle, wear soiled garments of tawny color; they follow the path of the wind, when the gods have beheld them.
उन्मदिता मौनेयेन वाताँ आ तस्थिमा वयम् । शरीरेदस्माकं यूयं मर्तासो अभि पश्यथ
Made ecstatic by the discipline of the sage, we have mounted the winds; in our bodies you mortals look upon us.
अन्तरिक्षेण पतति विश्वा रूपावचाकशत् । मुनिर्देवस्यदेवस्य सौकृत्याय सखा हितः
He flies through the midspace, observing all forms; the sage, friend of the god, is set apart for the god's favor.
वातस्याश्वो वायोः सखाथो देवेषितो मुनिः । उभौ समुद्रावा क्षेति यश्च पूर्व उतापरः
The horse of the wind, the friend of Vāyu, thus inspired by the gods is the sage; he dwells in both oceans, the one before and the one after.
अप्सरसां गन्धर्वाणां मृगाणां चरणे चरन् । केशी केतस्य विद्वान्सखा स्वादुर्मदिन्तमः
Moving among the Apsarases, the Gandharvas, and the wild creatures, the long-haired one, knowing the sign, is a sweet, most intoxicating friend.
वायुरस्मा उपामन्थत्पिनष्टि स्मा कुनन्नमा । केशी विषस्य पात्रेण यद्रुद्रेणापिबत्सह
The wind has churned him for us, he presses him as a woman does her child; the long-haired one, with the cup of poison, drank together with Rudra.
उत देवा अवहितं देवा उन्नयथा पुनः । उतागश्चक्रुषं देवा देवा जीवयथा पुनः
The gods have concealed, and the gods raise up again; the gods have made the day, and the gods restore life once more.
द्वाविमौ वातौ वात आ सिन्धोरा परावतः । दक्षं ते अन्य आ वातु परान्यो वातु यद्रपः
These two winds, O Wind, blow from the distant shore of the river; one brings you skill, the other, whatever is harmful, let it blow away.
आ वात वाहि भेषजं वि वात वाहि यद्रपः । त्वं हि विश्वभेषजो देवानां दूत ईयसे
O Wind, bring the healing; O Wind, drive away what is harmful; for you are the universal healer, the messenger of the gods you go.
आ त्वागमं शंतातिभिरथो अरिष्टतातिभिः । दक्षं ते भद्रमाभार्षं परा यक्ष्मं सुवामि ते
I have come to you with blessings for peace and for safety; may I bring you skill and good fortune, and may I drive away disease from you.
त्रायन्तामिह देवास्त्रायतां मरुतां गणः । त्रायन्तां विश्वा भूतानि यथायमरपा असत्
May the gods protect here, may the host of Maruts protect; may all beings protect, so that this one may be free from harm.
आप इद्वा उ भेषजीरापो अमीवचातनीः । आपः सर्वस्य भेषजीस्तास्ते कृण्वन्तु भेषजम्
Waters indeed are healing, waters drive away disease; waters are the remedy for all, may they prepare healing for you.
हस्ताभ्यां दशशाखाभ्यां जिह्वा वाचः पुरोगवी । अनामयित्नुभ्यां त्वा ताभ्यां त्वोप स्पृशामसि
With the two hands, ten-branched, and the tongue, leader of speech, with these two that ward off illness, with them we touch you.
तव त्य इन्द्र सख्येषु वह्नय ऋतं मन्वाना व्यदर्दिरुर्वलम् । यत्रा दशस्यन्नुषसो रिणन्नपः कुत्साय मन्मन्नह्यश्च दंसयः
In your friendship, O Indra, the fires, thinking on truth, have split open the broad expanse; where, rejoicing, the dawns have cleared away the waters for Kutsa by our hymn and by the teeth.
अवासृजः प्रस्वः श्वञ्चयो गिरीनुदाज उस्रा अपिबो मधु प्रियम् । अवर्धयो वनिनो अस्य दंससा शुशोच सूर्य ऋतजातया गिरा
You released the swelling streams, the howling ones, from the mountains; you drank the sweet beloved honey; you strengthened the forests by your might; the sun shone forth with speech born of truth.
वि सूर्यो मध्ये अमुचद्रथं दिवो विदद्दासाय प्रतिमानमार्यः । दृळ्हानि पिप्रोरसुरस्य मायिन इन्द्रो व्यास्यच्चकृवाँ ऋजिश्वना
The sun loosed his chariot in the midst of heaven; the noble one gave a sign to the Dasa; Indra shattered the firm works of the cunning Asura, having acted with Rjishvan.
अनाधृष्टानि धृषितो व्यास्यन्निधीँरदेवाँ अमृणदयास्यः । मासेव सूर्यो वसु पुर्यमा ददे गृणानः शत्रूँरशृणाद्विरुक्मता
The unconquered ones, being conquered, he scattered; the gods, his allies, did not restrain him; like the sun in a month, he set wealth in the city; praising, he heard the enemies with shining wealth.
अयुद्धसेनो विभ्वा विभिन्दता दाशद्वृत्रहा तुज्यानि तेजते । इन्द्रस्य वज्रादबिभेदभिश्नथः प्राक्रामच्छुन्ध्यूरजहादुषा अनः
With an unarmed host, O mighty one, you break apart, O slayer of Vritra, you shine in battles; from Indra's thunderbolt, the strong one did not break; the swift one advanced, the dawns drove away the chariot.
एता त्या ते श्रुत्यानि केवला यदेक एकमकृणोरयज्ञम् । मासां विधानमदधा अधि द्यवि त्वया विभिन्नं भरति प्रधिं पिता
These are your renowned deeds, unique, when you alone performed a sacrifice for one; you established the order of months in heaven; by you, the father supports the wide expanse, having divided it.
सूर्यरश्मिर्हरिकेशः पुरस्तात्सविता ज्योतिरुदयाँ अजस्रम् । तस्य पूषा प्रसवे याति विद्वान्सम्पश्यन्विश्वा भुवनानि गोपाः
The sun's ray, tawny-haired, in front, Savitar unceasingly brings forth the light; in his impulse, Pūṣan goes, knowing, seeing all the worlds, the herdsman.
नृचक्षा एष दिवो मध्य आस्त आपप्रिवान्रोदसी अन्तरिक्षम् । स विश्वाचीरभि चष्टे घृताचीरन्तरा पूर्वमपरं च केतुम्
This one, with human sight, sits in the midst of heaven, delighting in the two worlds and the midspace; he looks upon all things, shining with ghee, between the former and the latter beacon.
