With golden spears gleaming, nourished by the milk of the cosmos, the Maruts surge forth, clearing paths through the mighty mountains. Their vision shines brightly, fierce in form and unwavering in their courses. Eager for the sacred offering, they move with fixed purpose, united and powerful, their glory illuminating the realm. We call upon these radiant sons of Rudra, the Marut host, pure and far-seeing, dwelling in the forests. Swift and strong, they shine together, their might renowned throughout the expanse. When mortals are supported by their strength, they rise above others; blessed by the Maruts, they gain wealth, horses, companions, wisdom, and prosperity. To the generous, the Maruts grant unconquerable glory in battle—the wealth that brings praise, renowned among all people. Through their favor, one prospers with many sons and descendants. O Maruts, bestow upon us enduring, heroic, ever-victorious wealth, abundant and shining, so that the wise may bring us early blessings. Moving like a herdsman in secret, bearing reverence, Agni is harnessed with devotion. Wise ones follow his footsteps, and all the worshipful gods gather near him. The gods, guardians of truth, uphold the cosmic order; heaven, like a vast covering, embraces the earth. The pure, nourishing waters, ever-growing, bring forth the well-born one from the womb of truth. Agni is like abundant nourishment, like the earth, like a mountain, a support, a shelter, and a bringer of happiness. Swift as a horse released at the start, unrestrained as a river, none can surpass him. He is kin to rivers, a brother to his sister, the king who consumes both forests and the bounty of the earth. Driven by the wind, he scatters the woods; Agni burns, consuming the hairs of the earth. He breathes in the waters, like a swan sitting, and by his will, swiftly moves among the peoples, shining. Agni, wise and born of truth, is like Soma; far-reaching, all-pervading as a calf. He is splendid as wealth, all-seeing as the sun, eternal as the sky, ever-living as a son. Like a swift horse, he exerts himself; pure and radiant as a cow, he pours forth nourishment. He upholds safety, delightful as a singer; like ripe barley, he conquers people. Praised among tribes as a sage, victorious as a steed, he brings forth vigor. His flame shines far, his resolve is constant; like a mother, he opens the womb for all. Brilliant as a cloud, white among tribes, fierce as a golden chariot in battle. Like an army set in motion, he bears strength; like a thunderbolt, his fierce form flashes. He is born as Yama, the origin of Yama, lover of maidens, lord of women. We seek him, the dwelling of wealth; like cows, his shining presence is marked. Flowing like a river, he moves downward; the cows ascend, seeing the radiant realm. Born in the woods, chosen among mortals, Mitra seeks creation, like a king seeking victory. Like a gentle protector, his resolve is auspicious; self-reliant, he is the priest who brings offerings. Holding all powers in his hand, he places the gods in secret seats. Here, men discover wisdom, praising crafted mantras with their hearts. Like an unborn one, he upholds the earth and supports the sky with true mantras. Agni, protect the beloved paths of the cattle; eternal, you conceal the cows in secret. Whoever perceives him dwelling in secret, whoever sits at the stream of immortality, finds him. Those who move apart, seeking truth, speak forth treasures to him. He divides great abundance among heroes, offspring, and progeny. The wise, possessing all life, fashion a wondrous abode of the waters, like a house, with understanding. Hearing, Agni approaches the sky with brightness, covering the chariot of the standing one with rays. Among these, one became the god of all gods, encompassing the greatness of the deities. From then, all accepted his resolve, when he was born alive from the dry. All share in the divine nature, seeking truth, attaining immortality by their own paths. Messengers of truth, with thoughts of truth, possessing all life, they have fashioned all the waters, completing the sacred order.
