May the divine ones whom we praise watch over us in every tribe and community, spreading the renown of our hymns. Let all hostile forces—like dangerous lightning—be driven far from us, and may every harm be kept from our bodies. Agni, the radiant one, has graciously accepted our offerings, for we have placed our heartfelt hymn before him, most dear among the gods. In harmony with the deities, may the Offspring of the Waters become our friend and show us his favor. With words as pure as lotus blossoms, we offer praise to the serpent who dwells deep within the rivers, seated in the hidden realms. May this Serpent of the Deep bring us no harm, and may his sacred rites remain unbroken, upheld by the guardians of order. Let fame and good name be ours among the people; may the noble ones, striving with vigor, pursue wealth and prosperity. Our shining, mighty hosts, armed and resplendent, scorch away our enemies. When our wives come to us, may Tvaṣṭṛ of the fair hands bless us with sons. May he accept our hymns, and may the favor of the loving, wealth-seeking deity rest upon us. Let the generous bestowers of gifts grant us riches, and may the two worlds and the Varuṇānī hear our prayers. With the Varūtrīs as our shelter, may Tvaṣṭṛ, wise in counsel, distribute wealth to us. May the mountains, the waters, the givers of gifts, the plants, and the sky all grant us abundance. Let the earth, together with the forest trees and both worlds, protect us on every side. May these two vast worlds, Heaven and Earth, follow our prayers; may bright Varuṇa, friend of Indra, and all the mighty Maruts accompany us. Through their support, may we gain wealth to nourish our thoughts. Let Indra, Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni, the waters, the plants, and the forests accept our offerings. May we dwell safely under the shelter of the Maruts, ever protected and blessed by you. Indra and Agni, may you grant us your gracious protection. Indra and Varuṇa, worthy of our offerings, bring us well-being. Indra and Soma, bless us with happiness and prosperity; Indra and Pūṣan, strengthen us and grant us success. Bhaga, bring us good fortune, and let our songs of praise bring us auspiciousness. Puraṃdhi, grant us well-being, and may riches come our way. May the blessing of the true and self-restrained be with us, and Aryaman, born of many, show us his grace. Let the Creator be gracious; may the Upholder support us with favor. May the wide one, powerful in her own right, benefit us. Heaven and Earth, vast and ancient, be kind to us; let the mountains and all kindly gods show us favor. Agni, radiant leader, be gracious; Mitra, Varuṇa, and the Aśvins, bring us well-being. May the virtuous deeds of the good favor us, and may the wind blow blessings upon us. Heaven and Earth, invoked since ancient times, be gracious. May the midspace grant us clear vision; let the plants and forests be beneficial. May the victorious lord of the realms be gracious to us. Indra, god among the Vasus, be gracious; Varuṇa, praised among the Ādityas, be well-disposed. Gentle Rudra, with the Rudras, show us kindness; Tvaṣṭṛ, with the goddesses, hear our prayers. Soma, be gracious in our prayers; let the pressing stones and sacrifices bring us well-being. Friends of the radiant ones, be favorable; may the altar and sacred grass bring us blessings. May the Sun, of wide vision, rise for our well-being; may all four directions be auspicious. Let the steadfast mountains be gracious; may the rivers and waters bring us blessings. Aditi, be gracious to us with your ordinances; Maruts, shining with light, favor us. Viṣṇu and Pūṣan, be gracious; may the purifier and Vāyu bless us. Savitṛ, the protector, be gracious; may the dawns, shining forth, bring us well-being. Parjanya, bless our offspring; let the lord of the field be beneficent. Let all the gods, the universal deities, be gracious; Sarasvatī, together with the wise, be favorable. May the healers and generous ones be kind; let celestial, terrestrial, and aquatic beings bring us blessings. Lords of truth, be gracious; swift horses and cattle, bring us well-being. Skillful Ṛbhus, with good hands, favor us; may the ancestors accept our offerings and bless us. Aja Ekapād, be gracious; Ahi Budhnya and the ocean, be favorable. Offspring of the waters, mighty one, be kind; Pṛśni, divine protector, favor us. Let the Ādityas, Rudras, and Vasus accept this new hymn. Let all celestial and terrestrial beings, those born of cows and those worthy of sacrifice, hear us. May the gods who are worthy of sacrifice—worshipful, immortal, and wise—grant us wide protection today. Guard us always with blessings. Let our hymn arise from the seat of truth. The Sun has sent forth his rays and the cows; the wide Earth spreads out her slopes, and Agni settles in the center with his broad aspect. To you, Mitra and Varuṇa, we compose this well-praised hymn, as nourishing as food, O mighty ones. Your path is unerring and to be followed; Mitra, as a friend, strives for the people. The gods delight in the rushing wind as it moves, like cows eager for milking. Born in the high seat of the sky, the bull bellows at that udder. With words, O Indra, who yokes his two swift and beloved bays, O hero, charioteer, restrainer of wrath, may we gain the favor of wise Aryaman. People worship his friendship; we, the reverent, seek the domain of truth. He scatters the foes for those who praise—this homage is for Rudra, the most excellent. When together the Sarasvatī, the seventh river, mother of rivers, full of glory, easy to approach, rich in milk, and flowing with sweet streams, swell with their own waters, then blessings abound. May the Maruts, delighting, protect our thoughts and offspring, O strong ones. Let not the unsteady, wandering ones harm us—may your yoked wealth ever increase for us. Create great delight for yourselves; call upon Pūṣan, the hero of the assembly. May Bhaga, protector of our thoughts, grant us success, wealth, and generous bounty in this contest. To you, Maruts, this praise is addressed; to Viṣṇu, the showerer, with your help. For offspring and for the singer seeking strength, may you always guard us with well-being. Let the swiftest, unsullied chariot carry you here for praise, O givers of strength, O Ṛbhus. With triple-backed Soma at the pressings, rejoice, fair-bearded ones of great power. You, O Ṛbhus, bestow treasure upon the generous; givers of strength, unsullied, come and drink at our sacrifices, full of vigor, and grant us riches through your thoughts. Thus, with reverence and hope, the people offer their hymns—calling upon the gods, the rivers, the mountains, the plants, and all the powers of heaven and earth, seeking their protection, blessings, and abundance for themselves and their descendants.
