May Agni, the divine priest and radiant Brahman, be the most invoked among our hymns, the one who delights the Maruts and is the generous giver of a thousand gifts. O Agni, bestow upon us wealth multiplied a thousandfold—grant us offspring, nourishment, and the highest, unassailable heroic strength that none can overcome. Agni, the gracious Hotar, ever true in sacrifice and most skilled in poetry, is the creator whose chariot flashes like lightning. He is the son of strength, his fiery hair spreading energy across the earth. With reverence and words of praise, we approach him, seeking his acceptance. Agni, knowing and wise, leads the learned and seats them in the midst of the sacred grass for worship. Let the dawns, abundant with prizes, hasten to Agni along the paths of the wind. When they bring the ancient offering, they stand together in the home like a loving wife. Mitra, Varuna, and all the Maruts bestow their favor upon Agni. With his flame, he stands forth, spreading across the lands as the sun spreads among men. Today, with uplifted hands and devoted minds, we fulfill Agni’s desire. We worship the gods with utmost reverence, entrusting Agni, the inspired priest, to carry our thoughts. From him, son of strength, flow many gifts and blessings. May he grant us wealth in thousands, with truthful speech and without harm. To Agni, the wise one, mortals perform rites with skill and insight. Let him be aware of all noble gifts, for all these are his to enjoy. Shining with broad energy, Agni drives away enemies, demons, and disease. May we dwell in his great protection, for he is the gracious guide. At the breaking of dawn and the rising sun, may Agni be our guardian. Accept our praise as a parent cherishes their child; cherish our hymn, Agni, born of your own essence. With the vision of men, Agni shines forth with red light among the dark ones, leading us beyond distress and granting wealth. Agni, unyielding and mighty bull, blaze forth, conquering all prosperity. As leader of sacrifice, first in nourishment, knower of all births, guide us well with your greatness. Grant us unbroken protection and many blessings, O shining, wise one. Like a swift chariot, bring us victory and unite the two worlds in harmony. Pour forth, mighty Agni, and stir up the prizes. Unite the worlds for us with abundance, shining with the gods in radiant light. Let not the evil mind of mortals surround us. Grant us abundant food, wealth of cattle, and lasting prosperity for the one who offers. May our sons and offspring be victorious, and may your favor be with us. Agni is the master of heroic strength, greatness, and prosperity—the lord of wealth, good fortune, and the destroyer of obstacles. O men and Maruts, join together in this mighty one in whom wealth abides. In battles, the fierce gather around him and everywhere they overcome the enemy. Agni, generous giver, bestow upon us wealth and heroic strength—abundant, powerful, rich in offspring, unharmed, and vigorous prosperity. He acts among all beings, conquers, and does good among the gods. Strive for heroic strength among the gods, and for praise among men. O Agni, do not bring us to folly, weakness, or poverty. Do not make us subject to hatred or enmity. Grant us, O fortunate one, wealth abounding in offspring at the great sacrifice. Release to us abundant, joyful riches of great fame and glory. Ignited, Agni follows the first laws, praised by worshippers. With flaming hair and clarified butter as purifier, Agni, pure and skilled in sacrifice, brings the gods to the ritual. As priest on earth and in heaven, Agni, Jātavedas, with wisdom, worships the gods. May we, through this offering, cross beyond with the sacrifice. Agni, you have three lives and three dawns are born for you. By these, wise one, bring the help of the gods and be a source of blessing for the worshipper. We praise Agni, radiant and beautiful, worthy of homage. He is the messenger, the bringer of offerings, made the center of immortality by the gods. Whoever before you was the best priest, Agni, and gracious by his own power—following his law, perform the sacrifice and direct our ritual with divine favor. Be gracious to us as you approach, like a friend to a friend, a good son to his father. For people are full of hostilities; burn away our foes on every side. Burn among the enemies, Agni; burn the hostile curse and the wrath of strangers. Burn those without understanding; let your undying, tireless flames stand against them. With kindling wood and clarified butter, we offer the oblation for strength and power. As long as we are able, with prayer and honor, may we praise this divine thought for a hundred years. Shine forth with your flame, son of strength, and place great glory among those who rejoice. Bring blessings to the Viśvāmitras, and purify your body, making it abundant. Grant us treasure, O bestower of wealth; when you are kindled, you become that. In the house of the praiser, you assume all beautiful forms. I choose Agni as the priest for the sacrifice—wise, a sage, all-knowing, unfailing. May he worship for us, most worthy of sacrifice, and bring us wealth, strength, and generous gifts. To you, Agni, we send forth offerings rich in ghee, seeking splendid gifts and radiant clarity. Circling to the right, youthful one, approach with gifts and seat the sacrifice with the wealthy. With your keen mind, grant us mastery and prosperity, Agni. In the abundance of heroic wealth, may we become most praised among the wealthy. Many are your faces, O Agni, placed in you by worshippers. Bring here the favor of the gods, youngest one, as you sacrifice to the divine host. When the gods, desiring sacrifice, appointed you as the priest at the beginning, may you, Agni, be our protector. Grant us fame among our people. At dawn, Agni calls to Uṣas, the Aśvins, and Dadhikrā with hymns. May the radiant gods hear us, united and eager for sacrifice. Agni, you have three swift steeds, three seats, and three tongues born of truth—ancient and divine. With these, protect us so our songs are not rejected. Agni, Jātavedas, many are your powers—self-sustaining, immortal. The wonders placed in you by the wonder-workers of old are bound together at your back.
