May the divine powers grant us treasures—threefold and sevenfold—to the one who presses the Soma, each god responding to fair and heartfelt praises. The sacred fires sustain the sacrifice, and with righteous action, they apportion the offerings among the gods, ensuring each receives their due share. In this spirit, I call upon Indra and Agni, summoning them here with our hymns, inviting both to drink the Soma at this gathering. O men, let us praise them in our sacrifices—let Indra and Agni be made splendid by our songs, especially in the revered Gāyatrī meter. These two, whom even Mitra praises, we invoke for the drinking of Soma, for they are mighty and worthy of our call. Let them come, Indra and Agni, to this pressed Soma, for they are the great lords of the sacrificial seat—may they protect us, keeping away all that is barren or unrighteous. By the power of truth, let Indra and Agni watch over the wise at the sacred place, granting us their protection and shelter. As dawn breaks, let the two Aśvins, awakened and yoked to their swift chariot, come to partake of this Soma. O Aśvins, you whose chariots are splendid and touch the very sky, we call upon you now. With your honey-sweet and gracious whip, may you both bless this sacrifice and make it prosper. For you, there is no distance too great—wherever the Soma-presser dwells, your chariot brings you there with ease. For favor and guidance, I call upon Savitṛ, the golden-handed god who knows the path of the gods. Let us praise Savitṛ, the offspring of the waters, longing for his ordinances and help. We invoke the wise-seeing Savitṛ, the distributor, for the splendid wealth he bestows. Friends, let us sit together and praise Savitṛ, the generous giver who shines forth, bestowing riches upon us. Agni, bring here the wives of the gods, who sit together in harmony, and summon Tvaṣṭṛ for the drinking of Soma. O youngest Agni, call for help the goddesses—Hotrī, Bhāratī, Varūtrī, and Dhiṣaṇā—to join us in this sacred rite. May the divine wives of men, with unbroken wings, come together for us, bringing their favor and powerful protection. Here I call for the aid of Indrāṇī, for the well-being granted by Varuṇānī, and for Agnāyī to join us in the drinking of Soma. May great Heaven and Earth measure out this sacrifice for us, supporting us with their abundant gifts. The wise delight in the ghee-rich milk of these two, Heaven and Earth, their thoughts dwelling at the steadfast seat of the Gandharva. O Earth, be gentle and firm, a secure resting place for us; grant us wide and ample protection. From the place where Viṣṇu has stretched out, may the gods shield us, guarding the seven stations of the earth. Viṣṇu himself has stepped forth, his three strides firmly set in the dust, upholding the laws from his unassailable position. Behold the deeds of Viṣṇu, from whose sacred ordinances all is made manifest—he is Indra’s worthy companion. The wise always behold that highest step of Viṣṇu, shining like an eye extended in the sky. Inspired seers, awake and discerning, kindle their devotion at that highest step of Viṣṇu. Come, O Vāyu, to these strong, sweetly pressed Somas; drink those that are set forth for you. We call upon both Indra and Vāyu, who touch the sky, to drink this Soma together. Indra and Vāyu, swift as thought and thousand-eyed, lords of insight, the wise invoke you for aid. We also call upon Mitra and Varuṇa, both born with pure skill, to join us in the drinking of Soma. By truth and ever-growing power, lords of light and righteousness, we invoke Mitra and Varuṇa. May Varuṇa, the protector, and Mitra, with all their aids, grant us their gracious favor. We call upon Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, to drink the Soma and rejoice with his host. The Maruts, whose chief is Indra, are divine hosts and bestowers of wealth—may they all hear our invocation. You generous ones, who slew Vṛtra alongside Indra, yoked with might, may hostile speech never rule over us. We call upon all the gods, the Maruts, fierce and born of Pṛśni, to drink the Soma. Like a victorious thunderer, the host of Maruts approaches with boldness—grant us, O divine ones, all that is auspicious and good.
