कुर्वन्ति कुसुमापीडान् शिरस्सु सुरभीनमी । मेघप्रकाशै: फलकैर्दाक्षिणात्या यथा नरा: ।। २.९३.
They make fragrant garlands of flowers upon their heads, just as people in the south adorn themselves with shining fruit resembling clouds.
निष्कूजमिव भूत्वेदं वनं घोरप्रदर्शनम् । अयोध्येव जनाकीर्णा सम्प्रति प्रतिभाति मा ।। २.९३.
This forest, once silent and fearsome in appearance, now seems to me as crowded as Ayodhya.
खुरैरुदीरितो रेणुर्दिवं प्रच्छाद्य तिष्ठति । तं वहत्यनिल: शीघ्रं कुर्वन्निव मम प्रियम् ।। २.९३.
Dust stirred up by hooves rises and covers the sky, and the wind swiftly carries it, as if doing me a favor.
स्यन्दनांस्तुरगोपेतान् सूतमुख्यैरधिष्ठितान् । एतान् सम्पतत: शीघ्रं पश्य शत्रुघ्न कानने ।। २.९३.
See, Shatrughna, these chariots drawn by horses and driven by skilled charioteers, speeding through the forest.
एतान् वित्रासितान् पश्य बर्हिण: प्रियदर्शनान् । एतमाविशत: शीघ्रमधिवासं पतत्ऺित्रण: ।। २.९३.
See these frightened, beautiful peacocks quickly entering their shelter among the trees.
अतिमात्रमयं देशो मनोज्ञ: प्रतिभाति मा । तापसानां निवासो ऽयं व्यक्तं स्वर्गपथो यथा ।। २.९३.
This place appears to me exceedingly charming; it is clearly the dwelling of ascetics, like the path to heaven.
मृगा मृगीभि: सहिता बहव: पृषता वने । मनोज्ञरूपा लक्ष्यन्ते कुसुमैरिव चित्रिता: ।। २.९३.
Many deer, together with their mates, are seen in the forest, beautiful in form and adorned as if with flowers.
साधुसैन्या: प्रतिष्ठन्तां विचिन्वन्तु च कानने । यथा तौ पुरुषव्याघ्रौ दृश्येते रामलक्ष्मणौ ।। २.९३.
Let the noble troops proceed and search the forest, so that those two tiger-like men, Rama and Lakshmana, may be found.
भरतस्य वच: श्रुत्वा पुरुषा: शस्त्रपाणय: । विविशुस्तद्वनं शूरा धूमं च ददृशुस्तत: ।। २.९३.
Hearing Bharata's words, the warriors, weapons in hand, entered that forest and saw smoke rising there.
ते समालोक्य धूमाग्रमूचुर्भरतमागता: । नामनुष्ये भवत्याग्निर्व्यक्तमत्रैव राघवौ ।। २.९३.
Seeing the column of smoke, they said to Bharata, 'Fire does not occur where there are no people; surely the Raghavas are here.'
अथ नात्र नरव्याघ्रौ राजपुत्रौ परन्तपौ । मन्ये रामोपमा: सन्ति व्यक्तमत्र तपस्विन: ।। २.९३.
If the two tiger-like princes are not here, then I think those who resemble Rama must be ascetics dwelling here.
तच्छ्रुत्वा भरतस्तेषां वचनं साधुसम्मतम् । सैन्यानुवाच सर्वांस्तानमित्रबलमर्दन: ।। २.९३.
Hearing their words, which were approved by all, Bharata, destroyer of enemy forces, addressed the entire army.
यत्ता भवन्तस्तिष्ठन्तु नेतो गन्तव्यमग्रत: । अहमेव गमिष्यामि सुमन्त्रो गुरुरेव च ।। २.९३.
Let all of you remain here; none should go ahead. I alone will proceed, along with Sumantra and the revered teacher.
एवमुक्तास्तत: सर्वे तत्र तस्थु: समन्तत: । भरतो यत्र धूमाग्रं तत्र दृष्टिं समादधात् ।। २.९३.
Thus instructed, all of them stood there in every direction, while Bharata fixed his gaze where the smoke was rising.
व्यवस्थिता या भरतेन सा चमूर्निरीक्षमाणापि च धूममग्रत: । बभूव हृष्टा नचिरेण जानती प्रियस्य रामस्य समागमं तदा ।। २.९३.
That army, stationed by Bharata and observing even the smoke ahead, soon became joyful, knowing that a meeting with their beloved Rāma was near.
इत्यार्षे श्रीमद्रामायणे वाल्मीकीये आदिकाव्ये श्रीमदयोध्याकाण्डे त्रिनवतितम: सर्ग:
Thus ends the ninety-third sarga of the glorious Ayodhyā Kāṇḍa in the venerable Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, the first epic.

Having dwelled long on that mountain, which was dear to the forests and hills, longing for the beloved Vaidehī and captivating his own mind, he remained there.
अथ दाशरथिश्चित्रं चित्रकूटमदर्शयत् । भार्य्याममरसङ्काश: शचीमिव पुरन्दर: ।। २.९४.
Then Rāma, son of Daśaratha, showed the wondrous Citrakūṭa to his wife, shining like Indra showing Śacī the city of the gods.
न राज्याद्भ्रंशनं भद्रे न सुहृद्भिर्विनाभव: । मनो मे बाधते दृष्ट्वा रमणीयमिमं गिरिम् ।। २.९४.
O gentle one, the loss of the kingdom or separation from friends does not trouble my mind when I behold this delightful mountain.
पश्येममचलं भद्रे नानाद्विजगणायुतम् । शिखरै: खमिवोद्विद्धैर्द्धातुमद्भिर्विभूषितम् ।। २.९४.
Behold, O gentle one, this mountain adorned with multitudes of various birds, its peaks piercing the sky and decorated with minerals.
केचिद्रजतसङ्काशा: केचित् क्षतजसन्निभा: । पीतमाञ्जिष्ठवर्णाश्च केचिन्मणिवरप्रभा: ।। २.९४.
Some peaks resemble silver, some are like fresh blood, some are yellow or crimson, and others shine with the radiance of precious gems.
पुष्पार्ककेतकाभाश्च केचिज्ज्योतीरसप्रभा: । विराजन्ते ऽचलेन्द्रस्य देशा धातुविभूषिता: ।। २.९४.
Some regions gleam like flowers, sunlight, or ketaka blossoms, some shine with the glow of fire, all these lands of the lord of mountains are adorned with minerals.
नानामृगगणद्वीपितरक्ष्वृक्षगणैर्वृत: । अदुष्टैर्भात्ययं शैलो बहुपक्षिसमायुत: ।। २.९४.
This mountain, filled with many kinds of deer, wild beasts, tigers, bears, and trees, and inhabited by harmless creatures, shines with flocks of birds.
आम्रजम्ब्वसनैर्लोध्रै: प्रियालै: पनसैर्धवै: । अङ्कोलैर्भव्यतिनिशैर्बिल्वतिन्दुकवेणुभि: ।। २.९४.
It is covered with mango, jambū, asana, lodhra, priyāla, jackfruit, dhava, aṅkola, bhavyatiniśa, bilva, tinduka, and bamboo trees.
काश्मर्यरिष्टवरुणैर्मधूकैस्तिलकैस्तथा । बदर्य्यामलकैर्नीपैर्वेत्रधन्वनबीजकै: ।। २.९४.
There are kāśmarya, ariṣṭa, varuṇa, madhūka, tilaka, badarī, āmalaka, nīpa, vetra, dhanvana, and bījaka trees as well.
पुष्पवद्भि: फलोपेतैश्छायावद्भिर्मनोरमै: । एवमादिभिराकीर्ण: श्रियं पुष्यत्ययं गिरि: ।। २.९४.
Adorned with such trees, bearing flowers and fruits, with delightful shade, this mountain flourishes in beauty.
शैलप्रस्थेषु रम्येषु पश्येमान् रोमहर्षणान् । किन्नरान् द्वन्द्वशो भद्रे रममाणान् मनस्विन: ।। २.९४.
On the lovely slopes of the mountain, see these wondrous, awe-inspiring kinnaras, wise ones, delighting together in pairs, O gentle one.
शाखावसक्तान् खङ्गांश्च प्रवराण्यम्बराणि च । पश्च विद्याधरस्त्रीणां क्रीडोद्देशान् मनोरमान् ।। २.९४.
See the swords hanging from branches and the splendid garments—these are the enchanting playgrounds of the Vidyādhara women.
जलप्रपातैरुद्भेदैर्निष्यन्दैश्च क्वचित् क्वचित् । स्रवद्भिर्भात्ययं शैल: स्रवन्मद इव द्विप: ।। २.९४.
With waterfalls, springs, and streams flowing here and there, this mountain shines, like an elephant exuding fragrant ichor.
गुहासमीरणो गन्धान् नानापुष्पभवान् वहन् । घ्राणतर्प्पणमभ्येत्य कं नरं न प्रहर्षयेत् ।। २.९४.
The mountain breeze, carrying fragrances from various flowers, comes to delight the sense of smell—who would not be gladdened by it?
