गच्छेदानीं महाबाहो क्षेमेण पुनरागतः। नन्दयिष्यसि मां पुत्र साम्ना श्लक्ष्णेन चारुणा
Go now, mighty-armed one, and return safely; you will delight me, my son, with gentle and pleasing words.
अपीदानीं स कालः स्याद् वनात् प्रत्यागतं पुनः। यत् त्वां पुत्रक पश्येयं जटावल्कलधारिणम्
Perhaps now is the time when you will return from the forest, and I may see you, my child, wearing matted hair and bark garments.
तथा हि रामं वनवासनिश्चितं ददर्श देवी परमेण चेतसा। उवाच रामं शुभलक्षणं वचो बभूव च स्वस्त्ययनाभिकांक्षिणी
Thus, the queen, with utmost resolve, saw Rama determined to dwell in the forest; she spoke auspicious words to Rama, who possessed noble qualities, and became desirous of his welfare.

सा विनीय तमायासमुपस्पृश्य जलं शुचि। चकार माता रामस्य मङ्गलानि मनस्विनी
Having dispelled her distress and touched pure water, Rama's mother, thoughtful, performed auspicious rites.
न शक्यसे वारयितुं गच्छेदानीं रघूत्तम। शीघ्रं च विनिवर्तस्व वर्तस्व च सतां क्रमे
You cannot be restrained, O best of the Raghu lineage; go now, and return swiftly, and abide by the path of the virtuous.
यं पालयसि धर्मं त्वं प्रीत्या च नियमेन च। स वै राघवशार्दूल धर्मस्त्वामभिरक्षतु
The dharma you uphold with affection and discipline, O tiger among the Raghus, may that dharma protect you.
येभ्यः प्रणमसे पुत्र देवेष्वायतनेषु च। ते च त्वामभिरक्षन्तु वने सह महर्षिभिः
Those to whom you bow, my son, among the gods and in their temples, may they protect you in the forest along with the great sages.
यानि दत्तानि तेऽस्त्राणि विश्वामित्रेण धीमता। तानि त्वामभिरक्षन्तु गुणैः समुदितं सदा
The weapons given to you by the wise Vishvamitra, may they always protect you, endowed with virtues.
पितृशुश्रूषया पुत्र मातृशुश्रूषया तथा। सत्येन च महाबाहो चिरं जीवाभिरक्षितः
Through service to your father, and likewise to your mother, and by truth, O mighty-armed one, may you live long and be safeguarded.
समित्कुशपवित्राणि वेद्यश्चायतनानि च। स्थण्डिलानि च विप्राणां शैला वृक्षाः क्षुपा ह्रदाः। पतङ्गाः पन्नगाः सिंहास्त्वां रक्षन्तु नरोत्तम
May the sacred fires, kusha grass, altars, shrines, the seats of the Brahmins, mountains, trees, shrubs, lakes, birds, serpents, and lions protect you, O best among men.
स्वस्ति साध्याश्च विश्वे च मरुतश्च महर्षिभिः। स्वस्ति धाता विधाता च स्वस्ति पूषा भगोऽर्यमा
May the Sādhyas, the Viśvedevas, the Maruts with the great sages, may Dhātā, Vidhātā, Pūṣā, Bhaga, and Aryaman grant you auspiciousness.
लोकपालाश्च ते सर्वे वासवप्रमुखास्तथा। ऋतवः षट् च ते सर्वे मासाः संवत्सराः क्षपाः
May all the guardians of the worlds, headed by Indra, the six seasons, the months, the years, and the nights protect you.
दिनानि च मुहूर्ताश्च स्वस्ति कुर्वन्तु ते सदा। श्रुतिः स्मृतिश्च धर्मश्च पातु त्वां पुत्र सर्वतः
May the days and the hours always bring you auspiciousness; may the Vedas, tradition, and dharma protect you everywhere, my son.
स्कन्दश्च भगवान् देवः सोमश्च सबृहस्पतिः। सप्तर्षयो नारदश्च ते त्वां रक्षन्तु सर्वतः
May the divine Skanda, Soma, Brihaspati, the seven sages, and Narada protect you from all sides.
ते चापि सर्वतः सिद्धा दिशश्च सदिगीश्वराः। स्तुता मया वने तस्मिन् पान्तु त्वां पुत्र नित्यशः
May the perfected beings everywhere, the guardians of the directions, and the lords of the quarters, whom I have praised in that forest, always guard you, my son.
शैलाः सर्वे समुद्राश्च राजा वरुण एव च। द्यौरन्तरिक्षं पृथिवी वायुश्च सचराचरः
May all the mountains, the oceans, King Varuna, the sky, the atmosphere, the earth, and the wind, with all that moves and is still, protect you.
नक्षत्राणि च सर्वाणि ग्रहाश्च सह दैवतैः। अहोरात्रे तथा संध्ये पान्तु त्वां वनमाश्रितम्
May all the stars, planets along with their deities, day and night, and the twilights, protect you as you dwell in the forest.
ऋतवश्चापि षट् चान्ये मासाः संवत्सरास्तथा। कलाश्च काष्ठाश्च तथा तव शर्म दिशन्तु ते
May the six seasons, the months, the years, the divisions of time and moments, grant you happiness and well-being.
महावनेऽपि चरतो मुनिवेषस्य धीमतः। तथा देवाश्च दैत्याश्च भवन्तु सुखदाः सदा
Even as you wander in the great forest, dressed as a sage and wise, may the gods and the demons always bring you happiness.
राक्षसानां पिशाचानां रौद्राणां क्रूरकर्मणाम्। क्रव्यादानां च सर्वेषां मा भूत् पुत्रक ते भयम्
May you, my son, never have fear of all the rakshasas, pisachas, fierce beings of cruel deeds, and flesh-eating creatures.
प्लवगा वृश्चिका दंशा मशकाश्चैव कानने। सरीसृपाश्च कीटाश्च मा भूवन् गहने तव
May monkeys, scorpions, biting insects, mosquitoes, reptiles, and worms not trouble you in the dense forest.
महाद्विपाश्च सिंहाश्च व्याघ्रा ऋक्षाश्च दंष्ट्रिणः। महिषाः शृङ्गिणो रौद्रा न ते द्रुह्यन्तु पुत्रक
May great elephants, lions, tigers, bears with fangs, buffaloes with horns, and fierce beasts not harm you, my son.
नृमांसभोजना रौद्रा ये चान्ये सर्वजातयः। मा च त्वां हिंसिषुः पुत्र मया सम्पूजितास्त्विह
May those fierce creatures who eat human flesh and all other wild species, whom I have honored here, not injure you, my son.
आगमास्ते शिवाः सन्तु सिध्यन्तु च पराक्रमाः। सर्वसम्पत्तयो राम स्वस्तिमान् गच्छ पुत्रक
May auspicious omens come to you, may your endeavors succeed, and may all prosperity be yours, Rama; go forth safely, my son.
स्वस्ति तेऽस्त्वान्तरिक्षेभ्यः पार्थिवेभ्यः पुनः पुनः। सर्वेभ्यश्चैव देवेभ्यो ये च ते परिपन्थिनः
May blessings be upon you again and again from the beings of the sky and the earth, and from all the gods, as well as from those who oppose you.
शुक्रः सोमश्च सूर्यश्च धनदोऽथ यमस्तथा। पान्तु त्वामर्चिता राम दण्डकारण्यवासिनम्
May Shukra, Soma, Surya, Kubera, and Yama, whom I have worshipped, protect you, Rama, as you dwell in the Dandaka forest.
अग्निर्वायुस्तथा धूमो मन्त्राश्चर्षिमुखच्युताः। उपस्पर्शनकाले तु पान्तु त्वां रघुनन्दन
May fire, wind, smoke, and the mantras uttered by the mouths of sages, protect you, Raghunandana, at the time of ritual touch.
इति माल्यैः सुरगणान् गन्धैश्चापि यशस्विनी। स्तुतिभिश्चानुरूपाभिरानर्चायतलोचना
Thus, the illustrious one, with garlands, divine fragrances, and fitting hymns, worshipped the hosts of gods, her eyes filled with reverence.
ज्वलनं समुपादाय ब्राह्मणेन महात्मना। हावयामास विधिना राममङ्गलकारणात्
Taking the sacred fire, the great-souled Brahmin performed the ritual according to the prescribed method for Rama's auspiciousness.
