वेदा ब्राह्मणरूपेण गायत्री सर्वरक्षिणी । ओङ्कारो ऽथ वषट्कारः सर्वे राममनुव्रताः ।। ७.१०९.
The Vedas, in the form of Brāhmaṇas, the Gayatri, protector of all, the syllable Om and the Vaṣaṭ call—all followed Rama faithfully.
ऋषयश्च महात्मानः सर्व एव महीसुराः । अन्वगच्छन्महात्मानं स्वर्गद्वारमपावृतम् ।। ७.१०९.
The great sages, all the mighty gods of earth, followed the great-souled one toward the open gateway of heaven.
तं यान्तमनुगच्छन्ति ह्यन्तःपुरचराः स्त्रियः । सवृद्धबालदासीकाः सवर्षवरकिङ्कराः ।। ७.१०९.
The women of the inner chambers followed him as he went, along with elders, children, maidservants, and all the various attendants.
सान्तःपुरश्च भरतः शत्रुघ्नसहितो ययौ । रामं गतिमुपागम्य साग्निहोत्रमनुव्रतः ।। ७.१०९.
Bharata, together with Śatrughna, went with the inner household, having reached Rama's path, devoted to the fire sacrifice.
ते च सर्वे महात्मानः साग्निहोत्राः समागताः । सपुत्रदाराः काकुत्स्थमनुजग्मुर्महामतिम् ।। ७.१०९.
All those great souls, with fire sacrifices, assembled, with sons and wives, followed Kakutstha, the wise one.
मन्त्रिणो भृत्यवर्गाश्च सपुत्रपशुबान्धवाः । सर्वे सहानुगा राममन्वगच्छन्प्रहृष्टवत् ।। ७.१०९.
The ministers, groups of servants, with sons, cattle, and relatives—all, together with their followers, joyfully accompanied Rama.
ततः सर्वाः प्रकृतयो हृष्टपुष्टजनावृताः । गच्छन्तमन्वगछंस्तं राघवं गुणरञ्जिताः ।। ७.१०९.
Then all the subjects, surrounded by joyful and nourished people, followed that Rāghava, charmed by his virtues.
ततः सस्त्रीपुमांसस्ते सपक्षिपशुवाहनाः । राघवस्यानुगाः सर्वे हृष्टा विगतकल्मषाः ।। ७.१०९.
Then, men and women, with birds, cattle, and vehicles, all followed Rāghava, joyful and free from sin.
स्नाताः प्रमुदिताः सर्वे हृष्टाः पुष्टाश्च वानराः । दृढं किलकिलाशब्दैः सर्वं राममनुव्रतम् ।। ७.१०९.
All the monkeys, bathed, joyful, nourished, and delighted, loudly made cheerful sounds, all devoted to Rama.
न तत्र कश्चिद्दीनो वा व्रीडितो वा ऽपि दुःखितः । हृष्टं समुदितं सर्वं बभूव परमाद्भुतम् ।। ७.१०९.
There, no one was poor, ashamed, or sorrowful; all were joyful and gathered together, and it was most wondrous.
द्रष्टुकामो ऽथ निर्यान्तं रामं जानपदो जनः । यः प्राप्तः सो ऽपि दृष्ट्वैव स्वर्गायानुगतो मुदा ।। ७.१०९.
Then, the people of the land, eager to see Rama departing, whoever arrived, upon seeing him, followed him to heaven with delight.
ऋक्षवानररक्षांसि जनाश्च पुरवासिनः । आगच्छन्परया भक्त्या पृष्ठतः सुसमाहिताः ।। ७.१०९.
The bears, monkeys, and demons, along with the city dwellers, approached with utmost devotion, attentively following behind.
यानि भूतानि नगरे ऽप्यन्तर्धानगतानि च । राघवं तान्यनुययुः स्वर्गाय समुपस्थितम् ।। ७.१०९.
All beings in the city, even those who had become invisible, followed Raghava, who was present for ascent to heaven.
यानि पश्यन्ति काकुत्स्थं स्थावराणि चराणि च । सर्वाणि रामगमने ह्यनुजग्मुर्हि तान्यपि ।। ७.१०९.
Whatever stationary or moving beings saw Kakutstha, all of them also followed Rama on his journey.
नोच्छ्वसत्तदयोध्यायां सुसूक्ष्ममपि दृश्यते । तिर्यग्योनिगताश्चापि सर्वे राममनुव्रताः ।। ७.१०९.
Not even the slightest breath remained in Ayodhya; all creatures born in other forms were devoted followers of Rama.
इत्यार्षे श्रीमद्रामायणे वाल्मीकीये आदिकाव्ये श्रीमदुत्तरकाण्डे नवाधिकशततमः सर्गः
Thus ends the one hundred and ninth sarga of the glorious Uttarakanda in the venerable, ancient poem, the Ramayana of Valmiki.
अध्यर्धयोजनं गत्वा नदीं पश्चान्मुखाश्रिताम् । सरयूं पुण्यसलिलां ददर्श रघुनन्दनः ।। ७.११०.
Having traveled half a yojana, Raghunandana saw the river Sarayu, whose sacred waters flowed westward.
तां नदीमाकुलावर्तां सर्वत्रानुसरन्नृपः । आगतः सप्रजो रामस्तं देशं रघुनन्दनः ।। ७.११०.
That river, with swirling currents everywhere, was approached by Rama, the king, together with his people, as he entered that region.
अथ तस्मिन्मुहूर्ते तु ब्रह्मा लोकपितामहः । सर्वैः परिवृतो देवैर्ऋषिभिश्च महात्मभिः ।। ७.११०.
Then, at that moment, Brahma, the grandfather of the worlds, arrived, surrounded by all the gods and great sages.
आययौ यत्र काकुत्स्थः स्वर्गाय समुपस्थितः । विमानशतकोटीभिर्दिव्याभिरभिसंवृतः ।। ७.११०.
He came to where Kakutstha stood, ready for heaven, encompassed by hundreds of thousands of divine aerial chariots.
दिव्यतेजोवृतं व्योम ज्योतिर्भूतमनुत्तमम् । स्वयम्प्रभैः स्वतेजोभिः स्वर्गिभिः पुण्यकर्मभिः ।। ७.११०.
The sky was filled with divine radiance, shining brilliantly, illuminated by its own light, by the splendor of the gods, and by those who had performed virtuous deeds.
पुण्या वाता ववुश्चैव गन्धवन्तः सुखप्रदाः । पपात पुष्पवृष्टिश्च देवैर्मुक्ता महौघवत् ।। ७.११०.
Auspicious winds blew, fragrant and bringing comfort; a great shower of flowers fell, released by the gods like a mighty flood.
तस्मिंस्तूर्यशतैः कीर्णे गन्धर्वाप्सरसङ्कुले । सरयूसलिलं रामः पद्भ्यां समुपचक्रमे ।। ७.११०.
Amidst hundreds of trumpets and crowds of Gandharvas and Apsaras, Rama began to enter the waters of the Sarayu with his feet.
ततः पितामहो वाणीमन्तरिक्षादभाषत । आगच्छ विष्णो भद्रं ते दिष्ट्या प्राप्तो ऽसि राघव ।। ७.११०.
Then, the grandfather spoke from the sky: 'Come, O Vishnu, blessings to you! By destiny you have arrived, O Raghava.'
भ्रातृभिः सह देवाभैः प्रविशस्व स्विकां तनुम् । यामिच्छसि महाबाहो तां तनुं प्रविश स्विकाम् । वैष्णवीं तां महातेजस्तद्वाकाशं सनातनम् ।। ७.११०.
Enter your own form together with your brothers and the gods; O mighty-armed, enter whichever form you desire, that supreme, radiant, eternal Vaishnava form.
त्वं हि लोकगतिर्देव न त्वां केचित्प्रजानते । ऋते मायां विशालाक्षीं तव पूर्वपरिग्रहाम् । त्वामचिन्त्यं महद्भूतमक्षयं सर्वसङ्ग्रहम् ।। ७.११०.
You are the course of the worlds, O god; none know you except for your vast-eyed Maya, your former and latter consort. You are inconceivable, the great wonder, imperishable, the essence of all.
यामिच्छसि महातेजस्तां तनुं प्रविश स्वयम् ।। ७.११०.
Enter, O great radiance, whichever form you desire, by your own will.
ां विशालाक्षीं तव पूर्वपरिग्रहाम् । पितामहवचः श्रुत्वा विनिश्चित्य महामतिः । विवेश वैष्णवं तेजः सशरीरः सहानुजः ।। ७.११०.
Then, having heard the words of the Grandsire and reflecting deeply, the great-minded one, together with his brothers, entered the divine radiance of Vishnu with his body, O wide-eyed one, your former wife.
ततो विष्णुमयं देवं पूजयन्ति स्म देवताः । साध्या मरुद्गणाश्चैव सेन्द्राः साग्निपुरोगमाः ।। ७.११०.
Thereafter, the gods, along with the Sādhyas, the hosts of Maruts, Indra, Agni, and their leaders, worshipped the god who was pervaded by Vishnu.
ये च दिव्या ऋषिगणा गन्धर्वाप्सरसश्च याः । सुपर्णनागयक्षाश्च दैत्यदानवराक्षसाः ।। ७.११०.
And the divine hosts of seers, the Gandharvas, the Apsarases, the Suparṇas, Nāgas, Yakṣas, as well as the Daityas, Dānavas, and Rākṣasas,
