मारीचदर्शनं चैव सीतोन्मथनमेव च। कबन्धदर्शनं चैव पम्पाभिगमनं तथा
There was the encounter with Mārīca, the abduction of Sītā, the meeting with Kabandha, and then the approach to Pampā.
सुग्रीवेण च ते सख्यं यत्र वाली हतस्त्वया। मार्गणं चैव वैदेह्याः कर्म वातात्मजस्य च
You formed a friendship with Sugrīva, in which Vāli was slain by you; there was also the search for Vaidehī and the deeds of the wind-god’s son.
विदितायां च वैदेह्यां नलसेतुर्यथा कृतः। यथा चादीपिता लङ्का प्रहृष्टैर्हरियूथपैः
When Vaidehī was found, the bridge was built by Nala; and then Lanka was set ablaze by the delighted leaders of the monkeys.
सपुत्रबान्धवामात्यः सबलः सहवाहनः। यथा च निहतः संख्ये रावणो बलदर्पितः
With his sons, kinsmen, ministers, army, and vehicles, Rāvaṇa, proud of his strength, was slain by you in battle.
यथा च निहते तस्मिन् रावणे देवकण्टके। समागमश्च त्रिदशैर्यथा दत्तश्च ते वरः
When that Rāvaṇa, the thorn of the gods, was slain, there was a meeting with the gods, and a boon was granted to you.
सर्वं ममैतद् विदितं तपसा धर्मवत्सल। सम्पतन्ति च मे शिष्याः प्रवृत्त्याख्याः पुरीमितः
All this is known to me, O lover of righteousness, through my asceticism; my disciples, who report events, come to me from the city.
अहमप्यत्र ते दद्मि वरं शस्त्रभृतां वर। अर्घ्यं प्रतिगृहाणेदमयोध्यां श्वो गमिष्यसि
I too now grant you a boon, O best of warriors; accept this offering of hospitality, for tomorrow you will go to Ayodhyā.
तस्य तच्छिरसा वाक्यं प्रतिगृह्य नृपात्मजः। बाढमित्येव संहृष्टः श्रीमान् वरमयाचत
Receiving those words with bowed head, the illustrious prince, delighted, replied, 'So be it,' and requested a boon.
अकालफलिनो वृक्षाः सर्वे चापि मधुस्रवाः। फलान्यमृतगन्धीनि बहूनि विविधानि च
Let all the trees, even those that bear fruit out of season and those that drip with honey, produce many and various fruits with the fragrance of nectar.
भवन्तु मार्गे भगवन्नयोध्यां प्रति गच्छतः। तथेति च प्रतिज्ञाते वचनात् समनन्तरम्
Let such trees, O blessed one, be along the road as I journey to Ayodhyā; and when this was promised, immediately upon his word—
अभवन् पादपास्तत्र स्वर्गपादपसंनिभाः। निष्फलाः फलिनश्चासन् विपुष्पाः पुष्पशालिनः
There appeared trees there, resembling the trees of heaven, which were both fruitless and fruitful, flowerless and full of blossoms.
शुष्काः समग्रपत्रास्ते नगाश्चैव मधुस्रवाः। सर्वतो योजनास्तिस्रो गच्छतामभवंस्तदा
Dry trees stood with all their leaves, and honey-dripping trees as well; for three leagues in every direction as they traveled, it was so.
ततः प्रहृष्टाः प्लवगर्षभास्ते बहूनि दिव्यानि फलानि चैव। कामादुपाश्नन्ति सहस्रशस्ते मुदान्विताः स्वर्गजितो यथैव
Then those foremost of the monkey chiefs, overjoyed, ate many divine fruits as they wished, by the thousands, just as those who have won heaven.

Let the one hundred and twenty-fifth sarga be heard now. Thus ends the one hundred and twenty-fifth sarga in the glorious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Yuddha Kāṇḍa.
अयोध्यां तु समालोक्य चिन्तयामास राघवः। प्रियकामः प्रियं रामस्ततस्त्वरितविक्रमः
Beholding Ayodhyā, Rāghava, longing for his loved ones, began to reflect; then Rāma, eager and swift in action, set his mind to it.
चिन्तयित्वा ततो दृष्टिं वानरेषु न्यपातयत्। उवाच धीमांस्तेजस्वी हनूमन्तं प्लवंगमम्
After reflecting, he cast his gaze upon the monkeys and spoke to the wise and radiant Hanumān, the foremost of the monkeys.
अयोध्यां त्वरितो गत्वा शीघ्रं प्लवगसत्तम। जानीहि कच्चित् कुशली जनो नृपतिमन्दिरे
Go quickly to Ayodhyā, O best of monkeys, and swiftly learn whether all is well with the people in the king’s palace.
शृङ्गवेरपुरं प्राप्य गुहं गहनगोचरम्। निषादाधिपतिं ब्रूहि कुशलं वचनान्मम
Upon reaching Śṛṅgaverapura, speak to Guha, the lord of the Niṣādas who dwells in the wilderness, and convey my well-being to him.
श्रुत्वा तु मां कुशलिनमरोगं विगतज्वरम्। भविष्यति गुहः प्रीतः स ममात्मसमः सखा
When Guha hears that I am safe, free from illness and distress, he, my friend equal to myself, will be pleased.
अयोध्यायाश्च ते मार्गं प्रवृत्तिं भरतस्य च। निवेदयिष्यति प्रीतो निषादाधिपतिर्गुहः
Guha, the Niṣāda chief, delighted, will inform you about the route to Ayodhyā and the situation of Bharata.
भरतस्तु त्वया वाच्यः कुशलं वचनान्मम। सिद्धार्थं शंस मां तस्मै सभार्यं सहलक्ष्मणम्
You must also speak to Bharata, conveying my well-being; tell him that I have accomplished my purpose, and that I am with my wife and with Lakṣmaṇa.
हरणं चापि वैदेह्या रावणेन बलीयसा। सुग्रीवेण च संवादं वालिनश्च वधं रणे
Tell him of the abduction of Sītā by the powerful Rāvaṇa, of my alliance with Sugrīva, and of Vālin’s slaying in battle.
मैथिल्यन्वेषणं चैव यथा चाधिगता त्वया। लङ्घयित्वा महातोयमापगापतिमव्ययम्
Also recount the search for Maithilī, and how you discovered her after crossing the vast, unfailing ocean.
उपयानं समुद्रस्य सागरस्य च दर्शनम्। यथा च कारितः सेतू रावणश्च यथा हतः
Describe the approach to the sea, the sight of the ocean, the building of the bridge, and how Rāvaṇa was slain.
वरदानं महेन्द्रेण ब्रह्मणा वरुणेन च। महादेवप्रसादाच्च पित्रा मम समागमम्
Speak of the boons granted by Indra, Brahmā, and Varuṇa, and of the favor of Mahādeva, and of my reunion with my father.
उपयातं च मां सौम्य भरताय निवेदय। सह राक्षसराजेन हरीणामीश्वरेण च
Announce to Bharata that I have arrived, together with the king of the Rākṣasas and the lord of the monkeys.
जित्वा शत्रुगणान् रामः प्राप्य चानुत्तमं यशः। उपायाति समृद्धार्थः सह मित्रैर्महाबलैः
Having conquered the hosts of enemies and attained unsurpassed fame, Rāma comes, accomplished in his purpose, with his mighty friends.
एतच्छ्रुत्वा यमाकारं भजते भरतस्ततः। स च ते वेदितव्यः स्यात् सर्वं यच्चापि मां प्रति
After hearing this, whatever demeanor Bharata adopts, you must observe and report to me everything concerning him.
ज्ञेयाः सर्वे च वृत्तान्ता भरतस्येङ्गितानि च। तत्त्वेन मुखवर्णेन दृष्ट्या व्याभाषितेन च
You must discern all the events and Bharata’s intentions, by his facial expression, his gaze, and his speech.
सर्वकामसमृद्धं हि हस्त्यश्वरथसंकुलम्। पितृपैतामहं राज्यं कस्य नावर्तयेन्मनः
For whose mind would not turn to the ancestral kingdom, abundant in all pleasures, crowded with elephants, horses, and chariots?
