When the fourteen years were complete, on the fifth day, Rāma, elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa, reached the hermitage of Bharadvāja and respectfully greeted the sage.
Having bowed to him, he asked Bharadvāja, the ascetic rich in austerity: 'Revered one, is there prosperity and health in the city? Is Bharata well, and do my mothers still live?'
Thus addressed by Rāma, the great sage Bharadvāja replied to the best of the Raghus, first smiling, delighted.
