With floors inlaid with crystal designs, excellent seats of cat's-eye gems, furnished with costly coverings, and filled with great treasures—
That invincible, swift-moving chariot, now present, was announced to Rāma by Vibhīṣaṇa, who stood there.

When the Puṣpaka, adorned with flowers, was made ready and stood nearby, Vibhīṣaṇa spoke to Rāma.
With hands joined in reverence, humble, the lord of the rākṣasas, approached Rāghava in haste and said, 'What shall I do?'
To him, as Lakṣmaṇa listened, the radiant Rāghava, after reflection, spoke these words, filled with affection.
Let all the forest-dwellers, who have acted with effort, be honored with various jewels and riches, O Vibhīṣaṇa.
By you and these allies, O lord of the rākṣasas, Laṅkā was conquered by those joyful ones who, abandoning fear for their lives, did not turn back in battle.
These forest-dwellers have accomplished their tasks; reward their deeds with gifts of wealth and jewels, so their actions bear fruit.
When honored in this way and delighted by you, these monkey leaders will be content and grateful.
All approach you, who are generous, a gatherer, compassionate, and master of your senses; therefore, I advise you thus.
O king of men, a ruler lacking all qualities of delight and who harms others in battle is abandoned by his anxious army.
Thus addressed by Rama, Vibhīṣaṇa honored all those monkeys with distributions of jewels and treasures.
Then, seeing the monkey leaders honored with jewels, Rama ascended that excellent aerial chariot.

O foremost monkeys, you have fulfilled the duty of friendship; all of you are permitted by me to return as you wish.
Sugrīva, all that was done by you, my affectionate and well-wishing friend, was accomplished with righteousness.
Quickly return to Kiṣkindhā with your own army; Vibhīṣaṇa, remain in your rule over Laṅkā, which I have given you. Even the gods with Indra cannot harm you.
I will go to Ayodhyā, my father's royal city; I wish to take leave of you all and consult with you.
Thus addressed by Rama, the monkey chiefs and all the monkeys, as well as Vibhīṣaṇa, spoke with joined palms.
We wish to go to Ayodhyā; let you lead us all. We are eager and will roam through forests and groves.
O best of kings, seeing you moist with consecration and having greeted Kausalyā, we will soon return to our homes.
Thus addressed by the monkeys and Vibhīṣaṇa, the righteous Rama spoke to the monkeys, along with Sugrīva and Vibhīṣaṇa.
I have gained what is dearest beyond all dear things: together with my friends, I will attain joy when I reach the city with all of you.
Sugrīva, quickly ascend the chariot with the monkeys; you too, Vibhīṣaṇa, king of the rākṣasas, ascend with your ministers.
Then Sugrīva, together with the monkeys, joyfully ascended the divine Puṣpaka chariot; Vibhīṣaṇa, along with his ministers, did likewise.
When all of them had boarded, that supreme seat of Kubera, having been granted permission by Rāghava, soared into the sky.
Mounted on the radiant, bird-drawn aerial chariot, Rāma shone with delight and satisfaction, resembling Kubera himself.
