Thus, this task has been accomplished by you, O best upholder of dharma; Rāvaṇa has been slain—rejoice, O Rāma, and ascend to heaven.
Your strength and valor are unfailing, your prowess is unfailing; your vision is unfailing, O Rāma, and your praise is unfailing.
Those devoted men on earth who are steadfast in their devotion to you, the ancient Supreme Person, will surely be unfailing.
Those men who will always recite this ancient, venerable hymn of forbearance in this world and the next, they shall ever attain their desires; for them, there is no defeat.

Hear now the one hundred and eighteenth sarga in the Yuddha Kāṇḍa of the glorious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa.
Hearing these auspicious words spoken by the Grandsire, the Fire-god rose up, taking Vaidehī onto his lap.
Then, shaking off the funeral pyre, the Fire-god swiftly stood forth in embodied form, holding Janaka’s daughter.
She shone like the rising sun, adorned with ornaments of burnished gold, clad in red garments, youthful, with dark, curly hair.
Unwilted in her garlands and jewels, flawless in form and without blame, the Fire-god placed Vaidehī on Rāma’s lap.
Then the Fire-god, witness of the world, spoke to Rāma: 'Here is your Vaidehī; there is no sin in her.'
Neither by word, nor thought, nor understanding, nor sight did this virtuous and noble lady ever transgress you, O auspicious one.
Carried off by Rāvaṇa, that mighty and arrogant demon, separated from you, helpless and alone in the wilderness, she remained faithful.
Confined within the inner chambers, guarded, her mind set on you, devoted to you, she was watched by fierce rākṣasīs of terrible intent.
Though tempted in many ways and threatened, Maithilī did not waver, her inner self fixed on you alone.
Receive Maithilī, pure in heart and free from sin; let nothing more be said—I command you.
Then Rāma, best among speakers, his heart gladdened on hearing these words, pondered for a moment, his eyes brimming with joy.
Thus addressed, the mighty, steadfast, and valiant Rāma, foremost of the righteous, spoke to the chief of the gods.
Indeed, Sītā deserved to be purified before all people, for she, though virtuous, dwelt long in Rāvaṇa’s inner chambers.
Alas, the world would have called me childish and ruled by desire, O son of Daśaratha, had I not tested Jānakī.
I too know Sītā, daughter of Janaka, whose heart is undivided, who guards my mind with her own.
Even this wide-eyed lady, protected by her own virtue, Rāvaṇa could not cross, just as the mighty ocean cannot overstep its shore.
But, relying on truth, for the assurance of the three worlds, I permitted Vaidehī to enter the fire.
For the wicked-hearted one could not, even in thought, violate Maithilī, who is unattainable, like a blazing tongue of fire.
She does not deserve any weakness, having remained in Rāvaṇa’s inner chambers; for Sītā is devoted to me alone, as the radiance is to the sun.
Maithilī, the daughter of Janaka, is pure in all three worlds; she cannot be abandoned by me, just as a man of honor cannot abandon his fame.
And I must certainly act according to the words that are beneficial to all of you, the affectionate lords of the people, who speak thus for my good.
Having spoken thus, the victorious and mighty Rāma, praised for his own deeds, joined with his beloved, the illustrious one, Rāghava, enjoyed the happiness he deserved.

Hear now the one hundred nineteenth sarga in the glorious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Yuddhakāṇḍa.
Hearing these auspicious words spoken by Rāghava, the great lord then uttered even more auspicious words.
O lotus-eyed, mighty-armed, broad-chested subduer of foes, by good fortune this deed has been accomplished by you, best of the righteous.
