Then Triśiras, the foremost of rākṣasas, raised his sword and struck it into the chest of the monkey lord.
Struck by the blow of the sword, Hanumān, son of the wind, valiantly struck Triśiras, who had three heads, on the chest with his palm.
Struck by that palm, his weapon slipping from his hand, the mighty Triśiras fell to the ground, his consciousness gone.
As he fell, the great monkey cut off his sword, and roared like a mountain, terrifying all the rākṣasas.
Unable to endure that roar, the night-stalker leapt up and struck Hanumān with his fist.
Struck by that blow of the fist, the great monkey became enraged, and in his fury seized the rākṣasa chief by his crowned head.
Then, the son of the wind, in his wrath, cut off with his sharp sword the three crowned and earring-adorned heads of the rākṣasa, as Indra once cut off the heads of Tvaṣṭṛ's son.
Those heads, with wide eyes like fire, blazing with flaming eyes, fell to the earth from the enemy of Indra, like lights released from the path of the sun.
When Triśiras, the enemy of the gods, was slain by Hanumān with the prowess of Indra, the monkeys roared, the earth trembled, and the rākṣasas fled in all directions.
Seeing Triśiras slain, and likewise Mahodara, and witnessing the deaths of the formidable Devāntaka and Narāntaka,
The rākṣasa champion, filled with supreme rage and unable to endure it, seized his blazing, all-iron mace.
That mace, adorned with golden bands, smeared with flesh, blood, and foam, shone brilliantly, massive and glutted with the blood of enemies.
Its tip blazing with energy, adorned with red garlands, it inspired terror in the lords of elephants and great lotuses, and in all sovereigns.
Seizing the mace, enraged and intoxicated, the foremost of rākṣasas charged at the monkeys like the fire of destruction blazing forth.
Then the mighty monkey, the bull among his kind, sprang up and stood before Rāvaṇa's younger brother, facing the intoxicated warrior.
Seeing that mighty vanara standing before him, mountain-like, the enraged one struck him on the chest with a mace as hard as a thunderbolt.
Struck by that mace, the foremost of vanaras, his chest split open, was shaken and shed much blood.
Regaining consciousness after a long time, the lord of the vanaras, furious and lips quivering, looked at Mahaparsva.
Then, swift as the wind, the chief among vanara heroes approached that rakshasa and, gathering his fist, struck him suddenly between the arms, his form resembling a mountain peak.
Like a tree whose root is cut, he fell to the ground, his body drenched in blood; then, seizing his terrible mace, resembling Yama's rod, he roared loudly.
For a moment he lay as if lifeless; then, suddenly regaining his senses, the enemy of the gods, leaping up, his color like a twilight cloud, struck the son of the lord of waters.
He fell unconscious to the ground, but after a moment, rising again with his senses restored, he grasped that very mace, massive as a mountain, and struck in battle.
That fierce mace, approaching the body of the dreadful enemy of gods and priests, shattered his chest, and much blood flowed, as water from a mountain king.
He rushed swiftly toward the mace of that great-souled one, seized the terrible mace, and brandished it again and again.
The great-souled one struck the intoxicated Anika on the battlefield; shattered by his own mace, his ten eyes destroyed.
Then, like a maddened mountain struck by a thunderbolt, he fell to the earth, his eyes shattered, life and spirit departed; when that rakshasa fell, the rakshasa army fled.
When that brother of Ravana was slain, the army of the night-stalkers, vast as the ocean, abandoned their weapons and fled, seeking only to save their lives, like a broken sea.

The seventy-first sarga is to be heard.
Seeing his own army distressed, tumultuous and hair-raising, and his brothers, equal in valor to Indra, slain,
And seeing also his uncles fallen in battle, and his two brothers, the foremost rakshasas, maddened by war and intoxication,
