शतयोजनविस्तीर्णं विमलं चारुदर्शनम्। श्लक्ष्णं श्रीमन्महच्चैव दुष्प्रापं शकुनैरपि
Spanning a hundred yojanas, spotless and beautiful to behold, smooth, splendid, and vast, it was difficult for even birds to reach.
मनसापि दुरारोहं किं पुनः कर्मणा जनैः। निविष्टा तस्य शिखरे लङ्का रावणपालिता

That prosperous and wealthy city of Ravana, Lakshmana's elder brother Rama beheld, together with the vanaras.
तां महागृहसम्बाधां दृष्ट्वा लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः। नगरीं त्रिदिवप्रख्यां विस्मयं प्राप वीर्यवान्
Seeing that city crowded with great mansions, the heroic elder brother of Lakshmana was amazed, for it resembled the realm of the gods.

अन्योन्यमापीड्य विलग्नदेहौ तौ पेततुः सालनिखातमध्ये। उत्पेततुर्भूमितलं स्पृशन्तौ स्थित्वा मुहूर्तं त्वभिनिःश्वसन्तौ
Clinging to each other, their bodies locked together, the two fell in the midst of the sala posts; leaping up, touching the ground, they stood for a moment, breathing heavily.
आलिङ्ग्य चालिङ्ग्य च बाहुयोक्त्रैः संयोजयामासतुराहवे तौ। संरम्भशिक्षाबलसम्प्रयुक्तौ सुचेरतुः सम्प्रति युद्धमार्गैः
Embracing and entwining each other with their arms in the battle, both, employing all their skill, training, and strength, now engaged in the contest with all the ways of warfare.
