तेऽङ्गदप्रमुखा वीराः प्रहृष्टाश्च मुदान्विताः। निपेतुर्हरिराजस्य समीपे राघवस्य च
Those heroes, led by Angada, joyful and filled with gladness, descended near the monkey king and also near Raghava.
हनूमांश्च महाबाहुः प्रणम्य शिरसा ततः। नियतामक्षतां देवीं राघवाय न्यवेदयत्
Then Hanuman, mighty-armed, bowed his head and reported to Rama that the goddess was unharmed and steadfast.
दृष्टा देवीति हनुमद्वदनादमृतोपमम्। आकर्ण्य वचनं रामो हर्षमाप सलक्ष्मणः
Hearing Hanuman's words, 'The goddess has been seen,' which were as pleasing as nectar, Rama, together with Lakshmana, was filled with joy.
निश्चितार्थं ततस्तस्मिन् सुग्रीवं पवनात्मजे। लक्ष्मणः प्रीतिमान् प्रीतं बहुमानादवैक्षत
Then Lakshmana, certain of the truth, looked with great affection and respect at Sugriva and the son of the Wind.
प्रीत्या च परयोपेतो राघवः परवीरहा। बहुमानेन महता हनूमन्तमवैक्षत
And Rama, destroyer of enemy heroes, filled with supreme joy and great esteem, looked upon Hanuman.

Listen to the sixty-fifth sarga in the glorious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Sundara Kāṇḍa.
ततः प्रस्रवणं शैलं ते गत्वा चित्रकाननम्। प्रणम्य शिरसा रामं लक्ष्मणं च महाबलम्
Then, having gone to Mount Prasravana and the beautiful forest, they bowed their heads to Rama and mighty Lakshmana.
युवराजं पुरस्कृत्य सुग्रीवमभिवाद्य च। प्रवृत्तिमथ सीतायाः प्रवक्तुमुपचक्रमुः
Placing Sugriva, the prince, at the forefront and offering him respect, they began to report the news of Sita.
रावणान्तःपुरे रोधं राक्षसीभिश्च तर्जनम्। रामे समनुरागं च यथा च नियमः कृतः
They told of her confinement in Ravana's inner chambers, the threats from the demonesses, her devotion to Rama, and her observance of vows.
एतदाख्याय ते सर्वं हरयो रामसंनिधौ। वैदेहीमक्षतां श्रुत्वा रामस्तूत्तरमब्रवीत्
Having recounted all this before Rama, the monkeys, upon hearing that Vaidehi was unharmed, awaited Rama's further words.
क्व सीता वर्तते देवी कथं च मयि वर्तते। एतन्मे सर्वमाख्यात वैदेहीं प्रति वानराः
Rama said: 'Where does the goddess Sita dwell, and how does she fare with regard to me? Tell me everything concerning Vaidehi, O monkeys.'
रामस्य गदितं श्रुत्वा हरयो रामसंनिधौ। चोदयन्ति हनूमन्तं सीतावृत्तान्तकोविदम्
Hearing Rama's words in his presence, the monkeys urged Hanuman, who knew all of Sita's circumstances, to speak.
श्रुत्वा तु वचनं तेषां हनूमान् मारुतात्मजः। प्रणम्य शिरसा देव्यै सीतायै तां दिशं प्रति
Hearing their words, Hanuman, son of the Wind, bowed his head to the goddess Sita, facing in her direction.
उवाच वाक्यं वाक्यज्ञः सीताया दर्शनं यथा। तं मणिं काञ्चनं दिव्यं दीप्यमानं स्वतेजसा
The eloquent Hanuman spoke: 'As for Sita's sighting, here is the divine golden jewel, shining with its own brilliance.'
दत्त्वा रामाय हनुमांस्ततः प्राञ्जलिरब्रवीत्। समुद्रं लङ्घयित्वाहं शतयोजनमायतम्
Giving that radiant golden jewel to Rama, Hanuman, with joined palms, said: 'I crossed the ocean, a hundred yojanas wide.'
अगच्छं जानकीं सीतां मार्गमाणो दिदृक्षया। तत्र लङ्केति नगरी रावणस्य दुरात्मनः
'Seeking and desiring to see Janaki Sita, I went there. There is a city called Lanka, belonging to the wicked Ravana.'
दक्षिणस्य समुद्रस्य तीरे वसति दक्षिणे। तत्र सीता मया दृष्टा रावणान्तःपुरे सती
'On the southern shore of the southern ocean, in the south, she dwells. There I saw Sita, residing in Ravana's inner chambers.'
त्वयि संन्यस्य जीवन्ती रामा राम मनोरथम्। दृष्टा मे राक्षसीमध्ये तर्ज्यमाना मुहुर्मुहुः
'Living only by placing her hope in you, Rama, and your wish, I saw her among the demonesses, constantly threatened.'
राक्षसीभिर्विरूपाभी रक्षिता प्रमदावने। दुःखमापद्यते देवी त्वया वीर सुखोचिता
'Guarded by hideous demonesses in the Ashoka grove, the goddess endures suffering, O hero, though she is accustomed to happiness with you.'
रावणान्तःपुरे रुद्धा राक्षसीभिः सुरक्षिता। एकवेणीधरा दीना त्वयि चिन्तापरायणा
Imprisoned in Rāvaṇa’s inner chambers, guarded by rākṣasī women, she is well protected, her hair bound in a single braid, dejected, her mind absorbed in thoughts of you.
अधःशय्या विवर्णाङ्गी पद्मिनीव हिमागमे। रावणाद् विनिवृत्तार्था मर्तव्यकृतनिश्चया
Lying on the ground, her body pale, like a lotus at the onset of winter, deprived of hope from Rāvaṇa, she has resolved upon death.
देवी कथंचित् काकुत्स्थ त्वन्मना मार्गिता मया। इक्ष्वाकुवंशविख्यातिं शनैः कीर्तयतानघ
O descendant of Kakutstha, I somehow found the queen, her mind fixed on you; gently, I spoke of the illustrious Ikṣvāku lineage, O sinless one.
सा मया नरशार्दूल शनैर्विश्वासिता तदा। ततः सम्भाषिता देवी सर्वमर्थं च दर्शिता
Then, O tiger among men, I gradually won her trust; after that, the queen spoke with me and revealed everything.
रामसुग्रीवसख्यं च श्रुत्वा हर्षमुपागता। नियतः समुदाचारो भक्तिश्चास्याः सदा त्वयि
Hearing of the alliance between Rāma and Sugrīva, she was filled with joy; her conduct is always pure, and her devotion to you is unwavering.
एवं मया महाभाग दृष्टा जनकनन्दिनी। उग्रेण तपसा युक्ता त्वद्भक्त्या पुरुषर्षभ
Thus, O greatly fortunate one, I saw Janaka’s daughter, endowed with severe austerity and devotion to you, O best of men.
अभिज्ञानं च मे दत्तं यथावृत्तं तवान्तिके। चित्रकूटे महाप्राज्ञ वायसं प्रति राघव
She gave me a token of recognition, as it happened before you, O wise one, at Citrakūṭa, concerning the crow, O Rāghava.
विज्ञाप्यः पुनरप्येष रामो वायुसुत त्वया। अखिलेन यथा दृष्टमिति मामाह जानकी
Jānakī told me, 'O son of Vāyu, you must fully inform Rāma again of all that you have seen.'
अयं चास्मै प्रदातव्यो यत्नात् सुपरिरक्षितः। ब्रुवता वचनान्येवं सुग्रीवस्योपशृण्वतः
And she said, 'This must be given to him, carefully guarded;' thus she spoke these words in the presence of Sugrīva.
एष चूडामणिः श्रीमान् मया ते यत्नरक्षितः। मनःशिलायास्तिलकं तत् स्मरस्वेति चाब्रवीत्
This radiant crest-jewel, which I have carefully protected for you, she said, 'Remember the mark of red mineral on the forehead.'
एष निर्यातितः श्रीमान् मया ते वारिसम्भवः। एनं दृष्ट्वा प्रमोदिष्ये व्यसने त्वामिवानघ
This splendid water-born jewel I have brought to you; seeing this, I will rejoice, O sinless one, as if seeing you in adversity.
