Another approaches striking and roaring; the monkey army became tumultuous. There was no one there who was not intoxicated, nor anyone who was not arrogant.
Then, seeing the forest being devoured and the trees with their leaves and flowers destroyed, Dadhimukha, enraged, began to restrain those monkeys.
Harassed by those exuberant monkeys, the heroic elder guardian of the forest, Dadhimukha, fiercely resolved to protect the forest from the monkeys.
He spoke harsh words to some, struck others with his palms, quarreled with some, and approached others with conciliation.
Overwhelmed by their unstoppable force and strength, and attacked by fearless monkeys, he was dragged away without regard for fault.
Striking with claws, biting with teeth, hitting with palms and feet, the intoxicated monkeys surrounded him and rendered the great forest devoid of enjoyment.

Let the sixty-second chapter be heard.
Hanuman, the foremost among monkeys, addressed them: 'With undisturbed minds, you may enjoy the honey, O monkeys.'
'I will ward off your obstacles,' he said. Hearing Hanuman's words, Angada, the best among monkeys, replied.
With a cheerful heart, he said, 'Let the monkeys drink honey. Certainly, I must obey Hanuman's words, for he has accomplished the task.'
'Even what is improper must be done; how much more so something like this!' Hearing Angada's words, the foremost monkeys...
Joyfully praised him, saying, 'Excellent, excellent!' Having honored Angada, all the monkeys revered the chief among monkeys.
They went to the honey grove, like a river's current toward a tree; entering the honey grove, they overpowered the guards by their strength.
Because of their excessive eagerness, having seen and heard of Maithili, they all then drank the honey and took the juicy fruit.
Then all of them leapt up and, encountering the assembled forest-guards, struck them by the hundreds as they roamed in the honey-grove.
Some monkeys, seizing jars full of honey with their arms, drank together there, rejoicing.
All together they struck, while others ate; some, after drinking, flung away the honeycombs, their mouths stained with honey.
Some, wild with excitement, struck each other with honey remnants; others, grasping branches, settled at the roots of trees.
Utterly overcome by intoxication, the monkeys, their senses wild with honey, spread out leaves and lay down, delighted.
Some hurled each other about, others stumbled; some made loud noises, others joyfully cooed.
Some monkeys, drunk with honey, slept on the ground; some, emboldened, laughed, while others did various things.
Some spoke after acting, others woke up; and those here who were the honey-keepers, servants of Dadhimukha—
Even they, driven off by those fierce monkeys, fled in all directions, their knees scraped, and were shown the path of the gods.
Deeply agitated, they went and spoke to Dadhimukha: 'The honey-grove has been ravaged by Hanuman and those granted boons by him, by force; we have been scraped on the knees and shown the path of the gods.'
Then Dadhimukha, the monkey guardian of the grove, hearing that the honey-grove was destroyed, became angry and consoled those monkeys.
'Come here, let us go! We will restrain those over-proud monkeys by force, who are enjoying the best honey.'
Hearing these words of Dadhimukha, the foremost monkeys, together with him, again went to the honey-grove.
In their midst, Dadhimukha, firmly grasping a great tree, rushed forward with speed, and all those monkeys followed.
Those monkeys, seizing rocks, trees, and even stones, came in anger to where those elephant-like monkeys were.
With force they tried to restrain the monkeys, approaching them, their lips bitten in anger, repeatedly shouting threats.
