Whoever returns within a month and declares, 'Sītā has been seen,' shall enjoy pleasures and wealth equal to mine, and live happily.
There is no one dearer to me than him, even more than my own life; even if he has committed many offenses, he shall become my kinsman.
You are all of immeasurable strength and valor, born in noble families endowed with great virtues; strive with all your abilities to find the daughter of the king of men.

Hear now the forty-second chapter in the glorious Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, in the Kiṣkindhā Kāṇḍa.
Then Sugrīva, having dispatched the monkeys, spoke to the monkey named Suṣeṇa, who resembled a cloud, assigning him to the southern direction.
Approaching with joined palms, he addressed Tārā's father, the king, his formidable father-in-law, with respectful words.
He spoke to Marīca, the son of a great sage, a mighty monkey radiant as Indra, surrounded by heroic leaders of monkeys.
Gifted with wisdom and valor, shining like Garuḍa, the sons of Marīca—Marīcās, Arcirmālyas, and the mighty ones—
He directed all those sons of sages to the western direction; under the leadership of Suṣeṇa, two hundred thousand foremost monkeys set out.
Led by Suṣeṇa, you must search for Vaidehī in Saurāṣṭra, along with Bahlikā, and also in the regions of Chandracitra.
In the flourishing and delightful lands, in the vast ancient cities, in the dense forests of puṃnāga, in Kukṣi, and in the groves thick with bakula and uddālaka trees.
In the same way, O foremost of monkeys, search through the thickets of screw-pine, and also the rivers that flow directly against the current, whose cool waters are auspicious.
The forests of ascetics, and the wild mountain ranges that are there—on those plains, mostly desert, are stones that are very high and cold.
After searching the western direction, which is covered with chains of mountains and difficult terrain, you should then proceed to see the western ocean.
Having gone there, O monkeys, you will see waters teeming with whales and crocodiles; then, in the screw-pine thickets and the dense groves of tamala trees—
The monkeys will roam about, and also in the coconut groves; there, search for Sita and for the dwelling of Ravana.
On the mountains and in the forests situated along the shore, search also the city of Muravipattana and the delightful city of Jatapura.
And also Avanti, Angalepa, and the unmarked forest; and the vast kingdoms and cities here and there.
At the confluence of the Sindhu and the ocean, there is a great mountain called Somagiri, with a hundred peaks and great trees.
On its beautiful plateaus, lions with wings dwell, and they build their nests with whales, fish, and elephants.
Those nests of the lions, and those that are on the mountain peaks, are inhabited by proud and satisfied elephants, whose calls resound like thunderclouds.
They roam everywhere in this vast region, filled with water; its peak, touching the sky, is golden and adorned with varied trees.
All of it must be quickly searched by the monkeys who can assume any form at will; there is the golden promontory of the ocean, a hundred yojanas long.
After reaching the difficult-to-see boundary of Pariyatra, you will see, O monkeys, there, twenty-four crores of swift Gandharvas.
There dwell those fierce, shape-shifting beings, blazing like fire, gathered everywhere, resembling flames.
They must not be approached by the monkeys, even those of terrifying prowess; nor should any fruit be taken from that region by the vanaras.
For those heroes are hard to withstand, full of courage and great strength; they, of terrible might, guard the fruits and roots there.
There, effort must be made, and Sita must be searched for; for those who follow the conduct of monkeys, there is no fear from them at all.
There stands the great mountain named Vajra, appearing like beryl and shaped like a diamond, covered with various trees and creepers.
There, a glorious region stretches for a full hundred yojanas; O monkeys, the caves there must be searched thoroughly and with care.
