For our father is our lord and our highest deity; whoever our father gives us to, he shall be our husband.
Hearing their words, the god Hari, greatly enraged, entered all their bodies and broke them, the blessed lord, the powerful one.
Their bodies broken by the wind, reduced to the size of a finger, terrified, those maidens entered the king's house; entering, they were greatly agitated, modest, and their eyes filled with tears.
Seeing his beloved daughters broken and distressed, the king, greatly troubled, spoke these words.
"What is this? Tell me, daughters. Who has disregarded righteousness? By whom have you all been made crooked? You move about but do not speak." Thus the king, sighing deeply, then composed himself.

Hearing the words of the wise Kuśanābha, the hundred maidens touched his feet with their heads and spoke.
"O king, the wind, who pervades all, sought to violate us, following an unrighteous path, disregarding righteousness."
"We are under our father's authority, O blessed one; we are not independent. Choose our father; if he gives us to you, then we are yours."
"Because he did not accept our words, bound to sin, and as we spoke thus, we were all struck harshly by the wind."
Hearing their words, the king, supremely righteous and of great splendor, replied to the hundred excellent maidens.
"Patience is the greatest duty of those who are forbearing, my daughters. You have acted in unity and preserved our lineage."
"Adornment is for women, but patience is for men; yet such forbearance is difficult even for the gods, especially."
"Such patience as you all have shown, my daughters, without exception—patience is charity, patience is truth, patience is sacrifice, O daughters."
"Patience is fame, patience is righteousness, the world rests upon patience. Having thus addressed his daughters, O descendant of Kakutstha, the king, mighty as the gods, let them go."

He, skilled in counsel, deliberated together with his ministers about the giving, considering the proper place, time, and suitable recipient.

At that very time, a radiant sage named Cūlī, steadfast in celibacy and virtuous conduct, undertook Brahmanical austerity.

She, having bowed to him, devoted herself to service; dwelling there righteously for a time, her teacher became pleased with her.

Then, in due course, O descendant of Raghu, he spoke to her: 'I am pleased with you, may good be yours; what shall I do to please you?'
Recognizing the sage's satisfaction, the Gandharva maiden, delighted and skilled in speech, addressed him in a sweet voice.
Blessed with Brahmanical splendor and austerity, O great ascetic, I desire a righteous son endowed with Brahmanical penance.
I am without a husband, may good be yours, and I am not anyone's wife; having approached you through Brahmanical means, you are worthy to grant me a son.
Pleased with her, the Brahmarṣi granted her an excellent Brahmanical son, born of his mind, known as Brahmadatta, son of Cūlī.
That king Brahmadatta then resided in the city of Kāmpilya, with supreme splendor, like the lord of gods in heaven.
Then, O descendant of Kakutstha, the righteous king Kuśanābha resolved to give his hundred daughters to Brahmadatta.
Summoning the illustrious Brahmadatta, the king, delighted in his heart, gave him his hundred daughters.
Then, in due order, King Brahmadatta took their hands in marriage, like the lord of gods with his consorts.

At the very touch of his hand, they were freed from their deformity and affliction, and that hundred maidens shone with supreme beauty.
Seeing his daughters released by the wind, King Kuśanābha was exceedingly delighted and rejoiced again and again.
