Then, O best of twice-born, the entire three worlds cried out in alarm upon seeing the lord of the gods and Janardana wielding the thunderbolt and discus.
When Indra hurled the thunderbolt, the blessed Hari caught it; at that moment, he did not release the discus and told Shakra to stand still.
Seeing the lord of the gods deprived of his thunderbolt and riding a wounded Garuda, Satyabhama spoke to the hero, who was intent on fleeing.
"Lord of the three worlds, it is not fitting for you, the husband of Shachi, to flee; Shachi herself will come to you adorned with the Parijata garland."
"What kind of sovereignty over the gods is yours, if you, unable to see Shachi as before, must witness her approach adorned with the radiant Parijata garland?"
"Enough, Shakra, with this struggle; you should not feel ashamed. Let the Parijata be taken, and let the gods be free from distress."
"Because of pride and arrogance, and excessive self-regard, Shachi did not even look at me when I entered the house, nor did she offer me any courtesy."
"Being a woman, my mind was unsteady, and I was intent on praising my own husband; therefore, Shakra, I engaged in conflict with you together with him."
"Therefore, enough of this Parijata, which has been taken by another. She is proud of her beauty, but what woman is not proud of her own husband?"
Śrī Parāśara said: Thus addressed by her, the king of the gods turned back, O twice-born, and said to her, "Enough, O fierce one, with these words of reproach for your friend."
Indra said: "Nor does shame arise in me for being defeated by him who is the creator, destroyer, and sustainer of all, the one who has all forms."
"Since this entire world, without beginning, middle, or end, arises from him and will not exist apart from him, and since he is the cause of creation, dissolution, and preservation, O goddess, how can there be shame for me, having been overcome by him?"
"He, whose form is the origin of all worlds, subtle, minute, and unknown to all who seek knowledge, but known by none other; that unborn, uncreated, eternal Lord—who, by his own will, brings benefit to the world—who among mortals is capable of conquering him?"
Thus praised by the king of the gods, Keshava, smiling and with deep feeling, spoke these words, O best of twice-born.

Take this thunderbolt, which you have hurled at me; it is your own weapon, O Indra, meant for the destruction of enemies.
O Lord, do you bewilder me by saying, 'I am mortal'? We know you as the divine one, though we do not comprehend your subtle nature.
You are who you are, O protector of the world, established at the beginning, O master; you remove the thorn from the world, O slayer of demons.

Let this Parijata tree be brought to Dvaraka, O Krishna; it will not remain on earth once you have left the mortal realm.

Descending from Garuda, accompanied by Satyabhama, he placed the great Parijata tree in the courtyard.
Everyone who approached it recalled their previous birth; all those bound in human bodies gathered respectfully, gazing happily at the tree.

Then, wealth such as elephants and horses was brought by attendants; Krishna took the women and possessions that belonged to Naraka.
