Śrī Parāśara said: Having heard this, the blessed son of Devakī smiled, took Indra by the hand, and rose from his excellent seat.
Reflecting on what had occurred, he mounted Garuḍa, the sky-roaming one, placed Satyabhāmā upon it, and went to the city of Prāgjyotiṣa.
Having mounted Airāvata, the elephant, Indra too went to heaven; then Kṛṣṇa departed, as the inhabitants of Dvārakā looked on.
O best of twice-born, around the city of Prāgjyotiṣa for a hundred yojanas, there was an enclosure made of Murā's nooses, edged with razors.
Hari cut through those nooses, casting the Sudarśana discus; then Mura arose, and Keśava struck him down.
Then Hari made Mura's seven thousand sons, burned by the fire of the discus's edge, like moths.
Having slain the asura Hayagrīva and also Pañcajana, O twice-born, the wise one approached the city of Prāgjyotiṣa.
There, Naraka engaged him in battle with a great army, where Govinda, Kṛṣṇa, struck down thousands of Daityas.
As the powerful Bhauma Naraka released a shower of weapons and missiles, the wielder of the discus hurled his discus and split the Daitya's circle in two.
When Naraka was slain, Earth, taking the earrings of Aditi, approached the Lord of the universe and spoke these words.
Earth said: When I was lifted up by you, O Lord, in the form of a boar, this son, born of your touch, was then produced in me.
This one was given to me by you, and by you he has been cast down; accept these earrings, and protect his lineage.
For the purpose of relieving my burden, O Blessed One, you yourself, with a portion of your being, have come into the world, O Lord with a gracious face.
You are the creator and the destroyer, the dissolver, the origin and the end; you are the universe, O Acyuta—what praise can there be for you?
As the pervader and the pervaded, the doer and the deed, O Blessed One, you are the soul of all beings—what praise can there be for you thus?
You are the supreme self, the self of all beings, the self and the imperishable; in whatever way, O Lord, what is the purpose of praise for you?
Be gracious, O soul of all beings; whatever was done by Naraka, let that be forgiven and not counted as a fault, for your own son has been struck down by you.
Śrī Parāśara said: Having said 'so be it,' the Blessed Lord, the creator of beings, took the jewels from Naraka's abode, O best of sages.
In the city of maidens, that mighty one beheld over sixteen thousand maidens, O great sage.
He saw foremost elephants with four tusks, six thousand in number, and likewise twenty-one myriads of horses of the Kāmbojas.
Govinda immediately had those maidens, those elephants, and those horses brought to the city of Dvārakā by Naraka's attendants.
He saw the Varuṇa's umbrella and the mountain of jewels as well, and Hari placed them upon Garuḍa, the lord of birds.
Then Kṛṣṇa himself, together with Satyabhāmā, ascended and went to the abode of the gods, carrying the earrings of Aditi and the demon.
Śrī Parāśara said: Garuḍa, carrying the Varuṇa's umbrella, the mountain of jewels, and Hṛṣīkeśa with his wife, went forth with ease.
Then Hari, having reached the gate of heaven, blew his conch; and the gods approached Janārdana, bearing offerings in their hands.
Honored by the gods, Kṛṣṇa entered the dwelling of the mother of the gods, which resembled a peak of white clouds, and beheld Aditi.
He bowed to her, together with Indra, and gave her the excellent earrings; Janārdana also announced the destruction of Naraka to her.
Then the delighted mother of the world, Aditi, with her mind devoted to him, praised Hari, the sustainer of the worlds, without distraction.
Aditi said: O lotus-eyed one, I bow to you, giver of fearlessness to your devotees, eternal self, soul of all, soul of beings, creator of beings.
Mover of mind, intellect, and senses, whose nature is the qualities, transcending the three qualities, beyond duality, of pure essence, abiding in the heart.
