सार्ष्टिमार्ष्टिशिशुसत्यसत्यधृतिप्रमुखाः सारणात्मजाः ॥ ४,१५.
Sāraṇa’s sons were Sārṣṭi, Mārṣṭi, Śiśu, Satya, Satyadhṛti, and others.
भद्राश्वभद्रबाहुदुर्दमभूताद्याः रोहिण्याः कुलजाः ॥ ४,१५.
From Rohiṇī were born the noble sons Bhadrāśva, Bhadrabāhu, and Durdama, among others.
नन्दोपनन्दकृतकाद्य मदिरायास्तनयाः ॥ ४,१५.
From Madirā were born sons such as Nanda, Upananda, and Kṛtaka.
भद्रायाश्चोपनिधिगदाद्याः ॥ ४,१५.
From Bhadrā came sons such as Upanidhi and Gadā.
वैशाल्यां च कौशिकमेकमेवाजनयत् ॥ ४,१५.
And in Vaiśālī, he begot only one son, Kauśika.
आनकदुन्दुभेर्देवक्यामपि कीर्तिमत्सुषेणोदायुभद्रसेनऋजुदासभद्रदेवाख्याः षट्पुत्रा जज्ञिरे ॥ ४,१५.
From Devakī, Anakadundubhi had six sons: Kīrtimān, Suṣeṇa, Udāyu, Bhadrasena, Ṛjudāsa, and Bhadradeva.
तांश्च सर्वानेव कंसोघातितवान् ॥ ४,१५.
And all of them were slain by Kaṃsa.
अनन्तरं च सप्तमं गर्भमर्धरात्रे भगवत्प्रहितायोगनिद्रा रोहिण्या जठरमाकृष्य नीतवती ॥ ४,१५.
Then, at midnight, the divine sleep sent by the Lord transferred the seventh embryo from Devakī’s womb to Rohiṇī’s.
कर्षणाच्चासावपि संकर्षणाख्यामगमत् ॥ ४,१५.
And because he was drawn forth (karṣaṇa), he became known as Saṃkarṣaṇa.
ततश्च सकलजगन्महातरुमूलभूतोभूतभविष्यदादिसकलसुरासुरमुनिजनमनसामप्यगोचरोऽब्जभवप्रमुखैरनलमुखैः प्रणम्यावनिभारहरणाय प्रसादितो भगवाननादिमध्यनिधनोदेवकीगर्भमवततार वासुदेवः ॥ ४,१५.
Then, the Lord Vāsudeva, who is the root of the great tree of the entire universe, who is beyond the perception of all gods, demons, sages, and even the minds of beings past, present, and future, who was worshipped by Brahmā and other gods led by Agni to relieve the burden of the earth, descended into the womb of Devakī, he who has neither beginning, middle, nor end.
तत्प्रसादविवद्धमानोरुमहिमा च योगनिद्रा नन्दगोपपत्न्या यशोदाया गर्भमधितिष्ठितवती ॥ ४,१५.
By his grace, the greatness of the mind of Yoganidrā increased, and she entered the womb of Yaśodā, wife of Nandagopa.
सुप्रसन्नादित्यचन्द्रादिग्रहमव्यालादिभयं स्वस्थमानसमखिलमेवैतज्जगदपास्ताधर्ममभवत्त्स्मिश्च पुण्डरीकनयने जायमाने ॥ ४,१५.
When the lotus-eyed one was about to be born, all this world, free from unrighteousness, became peaceful in mind, and all fears from planets, stars, serpents, and the like vanished.
जातेन च तेनाखिलमेवैतत्सन्मार्गवर्ति जगदक्रियत ॥ ४,१५.
And with his birth, this entire world was set upon the path of righteousness.
भगवतोप्यत्र मर्त्यलोकेऽवतीर्णस्य षोडशसहस्राण्येकोत्तरशताधिकानि भार्याणाम भवन् ॥ ४,१५.
Even here, when the Blessed Lord descended to the mortal realm, he had sixteen thousand one hundred wives.
तासां च रुक्मिणी सत्यभामा जांबवती चारुहासिनीप्रमुखा ह्यष्टौ पत्न्यः प्रधाना बभूचवुः ॥ ४,१५.
Among them, Rukmini, Satyabhama, and Jambavati, the lovely-faced, were foremost; indeed, eight wives were chief.
तासु चाष्टावयुतानिलक्षं च पुत्राणां भगवानखिलमूर्तिरनादिमानजनयत् ॥ ४,१५.
From these, the Blessed One, the embodiment of all, the beginningless, begot ten million sons in each of the eight.
तेषां च प्रद्युम्नचारुदेष्ण्यसांबादयः त्रयोदश प्रधानाः ॥ ४,१५.
Among them, Pradyumna, Charudesna, Samba, and others—thirteen were the principal ones.
प्रद्युम्नोपि रुक्मिणस्तनयां रुक्मवतीं नामोपयेमे ॥ ४,१५.
Pradyumna also married Rukmavati, the daughter of Rukmi.
तस्यामनिरुद्धो जज्ञे ॥ ४,१५.
From her, Aniruddha was born.
अनिरुद्धोऽपि रुक्मिणा एव पौत्रीं सुभद्रां नामो पयेमे ॥ ४,१५.
Aniruddha too married Subhadra, the granddaughter of Rukmini.
तस्यामस्य वज्रो जज्ञे ॥ ४,१५.
From her, Vajra was born.
वज्रस्य प्रतिबाहुः तस्यापि सुचारुः ॥ ४,१५.
From Vajra came Pratibahu, and from him, Sucaru.
एवमनेकशतसहस्६ उषसंख्यस्य यदुकुलस्य पुत्रसंख्या वर्षशतैरपि वक्तुं न शक्यते ॥ ४,१५.
In this way, the number of sons in the Yadu lineage, counted in hundreds and thousands, is so great that it cannot be told even in a hundred years.
यतो हि श्लोकाविमावत्र चरितार्थौ ॥ ४,१५.
Therefore, these verses here have fulfilled their purpose.
तिस्त्रः कोट्यःसहस्राणामष्टाशीति शतानि च । कुमाराणां कृहाचार्याश्चापयोगेषु ये रताः ॥ ४,१५.
There were three crore and eighty-eight thousand princes and household teachers who were devoted to the use of weapons.
संख्यानं यादवानां कः करिष्यति महात्मनाम् । यत्रायुतानामयुतलक्षेणास्ते सदाहुकः ॥ ४,१५.
Who can enumerate the Yadavas, those great souls, among whom tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands always dwelled?
देवासुरे हता ये तु दैतेयास्सुमहाबला:। उत्पन्नास्ते मनुष्येषु जनोपद्रवकारिण:।।४,१५,
Those Daityas of great might, who were slain among the gods and demons, were born among humans as disturbers of the people.
तेषामुत्सादनार्थाय भुविदेवा यदो:कुले। अवतीर्णा:कुलशतं यत्रैकाभ्यधिकं द्विज:॥ ४,१५,
For the destruction of these, the gods on earth descended into the Yadu lineage, where there were a hundred clans, one more than a hundred, O twice-born.
उत्पन्नास्ते मनुष्येषु प्रमाणे च प्रभुत्वे च व्यवस्थितः। निदेशस्थायिनस्तस्य ववृधुः सर्वयादवाः ॥ ४,१५.
They were born among humans, established in measure and power; all the Yadavas flourished, abiding by his command.
इति प्रसूतिं वृष्णीनां यश्र्शृणोति नरः सदा । स सर्वैः पातकैर्मुक्तो विष्णुलोकं प्रपद्यते ॥ ४,१५.
Whoever always hears this account of the birth of the Vrishnis is freed from all sins and attains the world of Vishnu.
