आर्यबलभद्रेणापि मदिरापानाद्यश्षोओ!पभोगपरित्यागः कार्यः
Even you, noble Balarama, must now renounce the enjoyment of wine and other pleasures.
तदलं यदुलोकोयं बलभद्रः अहं च सत्या च त्वां दानपते प्रार्थयामः
Therefore, enough—let this be known to the Yadu people: Balarama, Satyabhama, and I all request you, O lord of gifts.
तद्भवानेव धारयितुं समर्थः
Therefore, you alone are capable of bearing it.
त्वद्धृतं चास्य राष्ट्रस्योपकारकं तद्भवानश्षोराष्ट्रनिमित्तमेतत्पूर्ववद्धारयत्वन्यन्न वक्तव्यमित्युक्तो दानपतिस्तथेत्याह जग्राह च तन्महारत्नम्
That which is held by you benefits the kingdom; therefore, let it be kept by you for the sake of the kingdom as before—nothing more need be said.' Thus addressed, the lord of gifts replied, 'So be it,' and took up that great jewel.
ततःप्रभृत्यक्रूरः प्रकटेनैव तेनातिजाज्ज्वल्यमानेनात्मकंठावसक्तेनादित्य इवांशुमाली चचार
From that time onward, Akrura moved about openly, shining with the brilliance that clung to his own neck, like the sun adorned with its rays.
इत्येतद्भगवतो मिथ्याभिशस्तिक्षालनं यः स्मरति न तस्य कदाचिदल्पापि मिथ्याभिशस्तिर्भवति अव्याहताखिलेंद्रि यश्चाखिलपापमोक्षमवाप्नोति
Whoever remembers this cleansing from false accusation of the Blessed Lord will never, at any time, be subject even to the slightest false accusation; one whose senses are unobstructed attains complete liberation from all sins.
तत्र चास्य युध्यमानस्यातिश्वद्धादत्तविशिष्टपात्रोपयुक्तान्नतोयादिना कृष्णस्य बलप्राणपुष्टिरभूत ।। ४-१३-
There, as he was fighting, Krishna's strength and vitality were nourished by food, water, and the like, specially offered with great faith and in suitable vessels.
श्रीपराशर उवाच अनमित्रस्य पुत्रः शिनिर्नामाभवत् ॥ ४,१४.
Śrī Parāśara said: Anamitra had a son named Śini.
तस्यापि सत्यकः सत्यकात्सात्यकिर्युयुधानापरनामा ॥ ४,१४.
He too had a son, Satyaka; from Satyaka came Sātyaki, also known as Yuyudhāna.
तस्मादपि संजयः तत्पुत्रश्च कुणिः कुणेर्युगन्धरः ॥ ४,१४.
From him came Saṃjaya, whose son was Kuṇi; from Kuṇi came Yugandhara.
इत्येते शैनेयाः ॥ ४,१४.
These are the descendants of Śini.
अनमित्रस्यान्वये वृष्णिः तस्मात्श्चफल्कः तत्प्रभावः काथेन एव ॥ ४,१४.
In the line of Anamitra was Vṛṣṇi; from him came Śvaphalka, whose power was renowned, as told by Kātha.
श्वफल्कस्यान्यः कनीयांश्चित्रकोनाम भ्राता ॥ ४,१४.
Śvaphalka had a younger brother named Citraka.
श्वफल्कादक्रूरो गान्दिन्यामभवत् ॥ ४,१४.
From Śvaphalka and Gāndinī was born Akrura.
तथोपमद्गः ॥ ४,१४.
Similarly, Upamadga was born.
उपमद्गोर्मृदामृदविश्वारिमेजयगिरिक्षत्रोपक्षत्रशतघ्नारिमर्दनधर्मदृग्दृष्टधर्मगन्धमोजवाहप्रतिवाहाख्याः पुत्राःसुताराख्या कन्या च ॥ ४,१४.
Upamadga's sons were Mṛda, Amṛda, Viśvāri, Mejaya, Girikṣatra, Upakṣatra, Śataghna, Arimardana, Dharmadṛk, Dṛṣṭadharma, Gandhamoja, Vāha, and Prativāha; his daughter was known as Sutārā.
देववानुपदेवश्चाक्रूरपुत्रौ ॥ ४,१४.
Devavān and Upadeva were the sons of Akrura.
पृथुविपृथुप्रमुखाश्चित्रकस्य पुत्रा बहवो बभूवुः ॥ ४,१४.
Citraka had many sons, headed by Pṛthu and Vipṛthu.
कुकुरभजमानशुचिकंबलबर्हिषाख्यास्तथान्धकस्य चत्वारः पुत्राः ॥ ४,१४.
Kukura had four sons: Bhajamāna, Śuci, Kaṃbala, and Barhiṣākha; likewise, Andhaka had four sons.
कुकुराद्धृष्टः तस्माच्च कपोतरोमा ततश्च विलोमा तस्मादपि तुंबुरसखोऽभवदनुसंज्ञश्च ॥ ४,१४.
From Kukura came Hṛṣṭa; from him, Kapotaromā; then Vilomā; from him, Tuṃbura's friend was born, called Anusaṃjña.
अनोरानकदुन्दभिः ततश्चा भिजितभिजितः पुनर्वसुः ॥ ४,१४.
From Anu came Ānakadundubhi; then Abhijit and Abhijita; then Punarvasu.
तस्याप्याहुकः आहुकी च कन्या ॥ ४,१४.
He too had a son, Āhuka, and a daughter named Āhukī.
आहुकस्य देवकोग्रसेनौ द्वौ पुत्रौ ॥ ४,१४.
Āhuka had two sons, Devaka and Ugrasena.
देववानुपदेवः सहदेवो देवरक्षिता च देवकस्य चत्वारः पुत्राः ॥ ४,१४.
Devaka had four sons: Devavān, Upadeva, Sahadeva, and Devarakṣitā.
तेषां वृकदेवोपदेवा देवरक्षिता श्रीदेवा शान्तिदेवा सहदेवा देवकी च सप्तभगिन्यः ॥ ४,१४.
Their seven daughters were Vṛkadevā, Upadevā, Devarakṣitā, Śrīdevā, Śāntidevā, Sahadevā, and Devakī.
ताश्च सर्वा वसुदेव उपयेमे ॥ ४,१४.
Vasudeva married all of them.
उग्रसेनस्यापि कंसन्यग्रोधसुनामानकाह्वशङ्कुसुभूमिराष्ट्रपालयुद्धतुष्टिसुतुष्टिंमत्संज्ञाः पुत्रा बभूवुः ॥ ४,१४.
Ugrasena also had sons named Kaṃsa, Nyagrodha, Sunāma, Nakāhva, Śaṅku, Subhūmi, Rāṣṭrapāla, Yuddhatuṣṭi, Sutuṣṭi, and Matsa.
कंसाकंसवतीसुतनूराष्ट्रपलिकाह्वाश्चोग्रसेनस्य तनूजाः कन्याः ॥ ४,१४.
Kaṃsā, Kaṃsavatī, Sutanū, and Rāṣṭrapalikā were the daughters of Ugrasena.
भजमानाच्च विदूरथः पुत्रोऽभवत् ॥ ४,१४.
From Bhajamāna was born a son named Vidūratha.
विदूरथाच्छूरः शुराच्छमी शमिनः प्रतिक्षत्रः तस्मात्स्वयंभोजः ततश्च हृदिकः ॥ ४,१४.
From Vidūratha came Śūra; from Śūra, Śamī; from Śamī, Pratikṣatra; from him, Svayaṃbhoja; and from him, Hṛdika.
