Śrī Parāśara said: Thus, with words tainted by jealousy and anger, and having lost his discernment out of fear and wishing to avoid harsh speech, the king replied as follows:
She is appointed as the wife of that son of yours who is yet to be born—hearing this, Shaivya, with a gentle smile arising, replied, 'So be it.'
And she entered the palace together with the king.
Soon after, due to the auspiciousness of the pure conjunction of the moment, the hour, and the divisions of time, Shaivya conceived with only a few days passing.
In due course, she gave birth to a son.
And his father named him Vidarbha.
He married that daughter-in-law.
And from her, he begot two sons named Kratha and Kaishika.
Again, she bore a third son named Romapada, who would become one endowed with knowledge obtained from Narada.
From Romapada came Babhru; from Babhru, Dhriti; from Dhriti, Kaishika; and from Kaishika, Cedi was born. In his line were the kings of Cedi.
Kratha’s son, through his daughter-in-law, was Kunti.
From Kunti came Dhrishti; from Dhrishti, Nidhriti; from Nidhriti, Dasharha; then Vyoma; from him, Jimuta; then Vikriti; then Bhibharatha; from him, Navaratha; from him, Dasharatha; then Shakuni; his son was Karambhi; and from Karambhi came Devarata.
From him came Devakshatra; from him, Madhu; from Madhu, the Kumaravamsa; from the Kumaravamsa, Anu; from Anu, Purumitra, the lord of the earth, was born.
Then from him came Amshu, and from him, Satvata.
From Satvata, these are known as the Satvatas.
Thus, O Maitreya, whoever listens with faith and devotion to this lineage of Jyamagha is freed from his own sins.
Śrī Parāśara said: Bhajina, Bhajamana, Divya, Andhaka, Devavridha, Mahabhoja, and Vrishni—these, known as the Satvatas, were the sons of Satvata.
Bhajamana had sons: Nimi, Krikaṇa, and Vṛṣṇi; and others, born of two mothers, named Śatajita, Sahasrajit, and Ayutajit—these three.
Devavridha also had a son named Babhru.
About these two, this verse is recited:
Just as we hear from afar and see from near, so Babhru was the best among men, and Devavridha was equal to the gods.
And there were sixty-six thousand men, and eight more, who attained immortality, descended from Babhru and Devavridha.
Mahabhoja was exceedingly righteous; in his line were the Bhojas, known as the Martikavaras, who dwelt in Martikavara city.
Vrishni had two sons: Sumitra and Yudhajit.
Then came Anamitra; from Anamitra, Nighna.
Nighna had two sons: Prasena and Satrajit.
And to Satrajit, the blessed Sun god became a friend.
Once, while staying on the shore of the ocean, Satrajit praised the Sun with concentrated mind, and the radiant one, being thus worshipped, appeared before him.
Then, seeing the Sun in a form not clearly manifest, Satrajit spoke to him.
Just as I saw you in the sky, resembling a mass of fire, so now, though you have come before me, O Lord, I do not perceive any special favor; having said this, the Sun god took from his own neck the great and excellent jewel called Syamantaka, and placed it aside in a secluded spot.
