Then one should perform the worship of the house and the desired deities, offering water for ablution, flowers, incense, and other offerings.
One should also perform a special Agnihotra sacrifice beforehand, O King, for Brahman.

With reverence, one should offer oblations addressed to Prajapati, then to Kashyapa for the household, and next, in order, to Anumati.
The remainder of that offering, placed in a vessel, should then be cast for Earth and Parjanya; at the door for Dhatu and Vidhatri, and in the center for Brahman.
Now hear from me, O Tiger among men, about the guardian deities of the directions for the house.

Then, taking other food, the wise should, with a pure mind, offer it as they wish on a clean spot of earth for the beings of the earth.
Gods, humans, cattle, birds, Siddhas, Yakshas, serpents, Daityas, Pisachas, trees, and all who desire food—whatever I have given here, may it satisfy them. Ants, insects, moths, and all the hungry bound by the bonds of karma—may they attain satisfaction from this food I have offered; may they be happy. For those who have neither mother, father, nor kin, who have no means to obtain food, and for whom food is not available—may this food given on earth bring them satisfaction and joy.
All beings and this food are myself, Vishnu; there is nothing else. Therefore, I offer this food, which is the essence of all beings, for their well-being.
This group of fourteen classes of beings, and all the hosts of creatures present among them—for their satisfaction, I have released this food; may they be content.
Having recited thus, a person endowed with faith should give food upon the earth, for the benefit of all, for the householder is the refuge of all.
O King, one should give food on the earth to dogs, outcastes, birds, and also to other fallen people and childless men.

If a guest arrives there, he should be honored with words of welcome, the offering of a seat, and washing of the feet.
With faith, by giving food, by kind questions and answers, and by accompanying the departing guest, the householder should create delight.
One should properly honor as a guest anyone who arrives from another region, whose family and name are unknown, and who does not reside in the same village.
If a person eats without honoring as a guest someone who is destitute, unrelated, and of unknown lineage, he falls downward, desiring to eat.
Without inquiring about his study, lineage, or conduct, and likewise his family, the householder should regard such a guest as if he were Brahmā himself.
For the sake of the ancestors, a householder should also wait for another Brāhmaṇa, at least one, who is local, whose conduct and origin are known, and who performs the five sacrifices.

He should also give three portions as alms to wandering ascetics and students; and, if able, a wise man should give more according to his means and willingness.
Thus, these are the guests described, along with the mendicants mentioned earlier; by honoring these four, O king, one is freed from sin.
If a guest, whose hopes are broken, turns back from a house, he takes away the host's merit and leaves his sin behind.
