विद्याधराश्च सिद्धाश्च किन्नराश्च मुदा युताः। अथाप्सरोगणाश्चैव नित्यं क्रीडापरायणाः ।। ३९.
There too are Vidyādharas, Siddhas, and Kinnaras, filled with joy, and groups of Apsarases, always devoted to play.
तस्य पर्वतराजस्य पूर्वे पार्श्वे महोचितम्। कुमुञ्चं शैलराजानं नैकनिर्झरकन्दरम् ।। ३९.
On the eastern side of that king of mountains lies the great and noble Kumuñca, lord of mountains, with many caves and waterfalls.
तस्य धातुविचित्रेषु कूटेषु बहुविस्तराः। अष्टौ पुर्यो ह्युदीर्णाश्च दानवानां महात्मनाम् ।। ३९.
On its peaks, varied with minerals and of great expanse, stand eight flourishing cities belonging to the mighty Dānavas.
वज्रके पर्वते चापि अनेकशिखरोदरैः। उदीर्णा राक्षसावासा नरनारीसमाकुलाः ।। ३९.
On the Vajraka mountain, with its many peaks and valleys, are thriving abodes of Rākṣasas, crowded with men and women.
नीलका नाम ते घोरा राक्षसाः कामरूपिणः। तत्र तेऽभिरता नित्यं महाबलपराक्रमाः ।। ३९.
There dwell the fierce Rākṣasas called Nīlakas, who can assume any form at will, always delighting there, mighty and powerful.
महानीलेऽपि शैलेन्द्रे पुराणि दश पञ्च च। हयाननानां विख्याताः किन्नराणां महात्मनाम् ।। ३९.
On the great Mahānīla mountain, there are fifteen ancient cities, renowned as the dwellings of the noble Kinnaras with horse faces.
देवसेनो महाबाहुर्बलमिन्द्रादयस्तथा। तत्र किन्नरराजानो दशपञ्च च गर्विताः ।। ३९.
Devasena, mighty-armed, and Indra and others, as well as the fifteen proud kings of the Kinnaras, are there.
सुवर्णपार्श्वाः प्रायेण नानापर्णसमाकुलैः। बिलप्रवेशैर्नगरैः शैलेन्द्रः सोऽभ्यलंकृतः ।। ३९.
That lord of mountains is mostly adorned with golden sides, crowded with various-leaved trees, and decorated with cities having cave entrances.
अतिदारुणा दृष्टिविषा ह्यग्निकोपा दुरासदाः। महोरगशतास्तत्र सुवर्णवशवर्तिनः ।। ३९.
There, hundreds of great serpents, extremely fierce, with deadly gaze and fiery wrath, difficult to approach, are subject to gold.
सुनागेऽपि महाशैले दैत्यावासा- सहस्रशः। हर्म्यप्रासाद कलिलाः प्रांशुप्राकारतोरणाः ।। ३९.
On the great Sunāga mountain also are thousands of Daitya dwellings, filled with mansions and palaces, with tall ramparts and gateways.
वेणुमन्ते महाशैले विद्याधरपुरत्रयम्। त्रिंशदद्योजनविस्तीर्णं पञ्चाशद्योजनायतम् ।। ३९.
On the great Veṇumanta mountain are three cities of the Vidyādharas, thirty yojanas wide and fifty yojanas long.
उलूको रोमशश्चैव महानेत्रश्च वीर्यवान्। विद्याधरवरास्तत्र शक्रतुल्यपराक्रमाः ।। ३९.
Ulūka, Romaśa, and the mighty Mahānetra—these best of Vidyādharas, equal in prowess to Indra, dwell there.
वैकङ्के शैलशिखरे ह्यन्तःकन्दरनिर्झरे। महोच्चश्रृङ्गे रुचिरे रत्नधातुविचित्रिते ।। ३९.
On the peak of Mount Vaikanka, within its inner caves and waterfalls, upon its lofty and splendid summit adorned with veins of precious gems—
तत्रास्ते गारुडिर्नित्यं उरगारिर्दुरासदः। महावायुजवश्चण्डः सुग्रीवो नाम वीर्यवान् ।। ३९.
There dwells eternally the mighty Garuda, the formidable enemy of serpents, fierce as the great wind, powerful and renowned as Sugriva.
महाप्रमाणै र्विक्रान्तैर्महाबलपराक्रमैः। सशैलो ह्यावृतः सर्वः पक्षिभिः पन्नगारिभिः ।। ३९.
That entire mountain, together with its peaks, is surrounded by birds of immense size and strength, heroic and mighty, all enemies of serpents.
करञ्जेऽभिरतो नित्यं साक्षाद्भूतपतिः प्रभुः। वृषभाङ्को महादेवः शङ्करो योगिनां प्रभुः ।। ३९.
On Mount Karanja, ever delighted, abides the Lord of beings himself—Mahadeva, marked by the bull, Shankara, the master of yogis.
नानावेषधरैर्भूतैः प्रमथैश्च दुरासदैः। करञ्जे सानवः सर्वे ह्यवकीर्णाः समन्ततः ।। ३९.
All the slopes of Karanja are filled on every side with beings of various forms and fearsome Pramathas, difficult to withstand.
वसुधारे वसुमतां वसूनाममितौजसाम्। अष्टावायतनान्याहुः पूजितानि महात्मनाम् ।। ३९.
On Vasudhara, the earth of the mighty, are said to be eight shrines, revered by the great souls among the Vasus of boundless energy.
रत्नधातौ गिरिवरे ऋषीणाञ्च महात्मनाम्। सप्ताश्रमाणि पुण्यानि सिद्धावासयुतानि च ।। ३९.
On the noble mountain rich in gems, there are seven sacred hermitages of the great sages, abodes of accomplished beings.
महाप्रजापतेः स्थानं हेमश्रृङ्गो नगोत्तमे। चतुर्वक्त्रस्य देवस्य सर्वभूतनमस्कृतम् ।। ३०.
On the supreme mountain Hemashringa is the seat of the great Prajapati, the four-faced god, worshipped by all beings.
गजशैले भगवतो नानाभूतगणावृताः । रुद्राः प्रमुदिता नित्यं सर्वभूतनमस्कृताः ।। ३९.
On Gajashaila, surrounded by hosts of various beings, the Rudras dwell, ever joyful and worshipped by all creatures.
सुमेधे धातुचित्राढ्ये शैलेन्द्रे मेघसन्निभे। नैकोदरदरीवप्रनिकुञ्जैश्चोपशोभिते ।। ३९.
On Sumedha, the lord of mountains, resplendent with veins of minerals and resembling a mass of clouds, adorned with many caves and forested slopes—
आदित्यानां वसूनाञ्च रुद्राणाञ्चामितौजसाम्। तत्रायतनविन्यासा रम्याश्चैवाश्विनोरपि ।। ३९.
There are beautiful shrines of the Adityas, Vasus, and Rudras of boundless might, as well as of the Ashvins.
स्थानानि सिद्धैर्देवानां स्थापितानि नगोत्तमे। तत्र पूजापरा नित्यं यक्ष गन्धर्वकिन्नराः ।। ३९.
On the supreme mountain, the Siddhas have established the abodes of the gods; there, Yakshas, Gandharvas, and Kinnaras are always engaged in worship.
गन्धर्वनगरी स्फीता हेमकक्षे नगोत्तमे। अशीत्यामरपुर्य्याभा महाप्राकारतोरणा ।। ३९.
On the supreme mountain is the flourishing city of the Gandharvas, Hemakaksha, resplendent with mighty walls and gateways, rivaling eighty celestial cities.
सिद्धा ह्यपत्तना नाम गन्धर्वा युद्ध शालिनः। येषामधिपतिर्देवो राजराजः कपिञ्जलः ।। ३९.
There are the Siddhas, called Apattana, and the Gandharvas skilled in battle, whose lord is the god Kapiñjala, king of kings.
अनले राक्षसावासाः पञ्चकूटेऽपि दानवाः। ऊर्जिता देवरिपवो महाबलपराक्रमाः ।। ३९.
On Anala dwell the Rakshasas, and on Panchakuta the Danavas—powerful enemies of the gods, mighty and valorous.
शतश्रृङ्गे पुरशतं यक्षाणाममितौजसाम्। ताम्राभे काद्रवेयस्य तक्षकस्य पुरोत्तमम् ।। ३९.
On Shatashringa, there are a hundred cities of the Yakshas of boundless energy, and the foremost city of Takshaka, the son of Kadru, shining with a coppery hue.
विशाखे पर्वतश्रेष्ठे नैकवप्रदरीशुभे। गुहानिरतवासस्य गुहस्यायतनं महत् ।। ३९.
On Vishakha, the foremost of mountains, beautiful with many caves and forested slopes, is the great abode of Guha, who delights in caves.
श्वेतोदरे महाशैले महाभवनमण्डिते। पुरं गरुढपुत्रस्य सुनाभस्य महात्मनः ।। ३९.
On Shvetodara, the great mountain adorned with splendid palaces, is the city of Sunabha, the noble son of Garuda.
