तपो ब्रह्म च सत्यञ्च ब्रह्मचर्यमथार्जवम् । भूतात्मा भूतकृद्भूतो भूतभव्यभवोद्भवः ।। ३०.
Austerity, Brahman, truth, celibacy, and uprightness; the soul of beings, creator of beings, being itself, origin of past, future, and present.
भूर्भुवःस्वरितश्चैव तथोत्पत्तिर्महेश्वरः। ईशानो वीक्षणः शान्तो दुर्दान्तो दन्तनाशनः ।। ३०.
He is Bhū, Bhuvaḥ, and Svar, and likewise their origin, the great lord; ruler, observer, peaceful, untamable, and destroyer of teeth.
ब्रह्मावर्त्त सुरावर्त्त कामावर्त्त नमोऽस्तु ते। कामबिम्बनिहर्त्ता च कर्णिकाररजःप्रियः ।। ३०.
He is the cycle of Brahman, the cycle of gods, the cycle of desire—salutations to you; destroyer of the reflection of desire, and fond of the pollen of the Karnikāra flower.
मुखचन्द्रो भीममुखः सुमुखो दुर्मुखो मुखः। चतुर्मुखो बहुमुखो रणे ह्यभिमुखः सदा ।। ३०.
Moon-faced, with a terrible face, beautiful-faced, ugly-faced, and simply a face; four-faced, many-faced, always facing the enemy in battle.
हिरण्यगर्भः शकुनिर्महोदधिः परो विराट् । अधर्महा महादण्डो दण्डधारो रणप्रियः ।। ३०.
He is the golden womb, the bird, the great ocean, the supreme, the cosmic form; destroyer of unrighteousness, the great rod, bearer of the rod, and lover of battle.
गोतमोगोप्रतारश्च गोवृषेश्चरवाहनः। धर्मकृद्धर्मस्रष्टा च धर्मो धर्मविदुत्तमः ।। ३०.
Gautama, protector of cows, lord of the bull, and one who moves with cattle; creator of dharma, originator of dharma, dharma itself, and the foremost knower of dharma.
त्रैलोक्यगोप्ता गोविन्दो मानदो मान एव च। तिष्ठन् स्थिरश्च स्थाणुश्च निष्कम्पः कम्प एव च ।। ३०.
Protector of the three worlds, Govinda, giver of honor, and honor itself; standing, steadfast, immovable, and yet trembling.
दुर्वारणो दुर्विषदो दुःसहो दुरतिक्रमः। दुर्द्धरो दुष्प्रकम्पश्च दुर्विदो दुर्ज्जयो जयः ।। ३०.
Difficult to restrain, hard to poison, hard to endure, difficult to surpass; hard to bear, hard to shake, hard to know, hard to conquer, and victorious.
शशः शशाङ्कः शमनः शीतोष्णं दुर्जराऽथ तृट्। आधयो व्याधयश्चैव व्याधिहा व्याधिगश्च ह ।। ३०.
The hare, the moon, the pacifier, cold and heat, difficult to digest, and thirst; ailments and diseases, destroyer of disease, and indeed dwelling in disease.
सह्यो यज्ञो मृगा व्याधा व्याधीनामाकरोऽकरः । शिखण्डी पुण्डरीकाक्षः पुण्डरीकावलोकनः ।। ३०.
Enduring, sacrifice, deer, hunter, origin and non-origin of diseases; crested, lotus-eyed, and observer of the lotus.
दण्डधरः सदण्डश्च दण्डमुण्डविभूषितः। विषपोऽमृतपश्चैव सुरापः क्षीरसोमपः ।। ३०.
Bearer of the rod, always with the rod, adorned with a shaven head; poison-drinker, nectar-drinker, drinker of wine, and drinker of milk and soma.
मधुपश्चाज्यपश्चैव सर्वपश्च महाबलः। वृषाश्ववाह्यो वृषभस्तथा वृषभलोचनः ।। ३०.
Honey-drinker, ghee-drinker, and indeed drinker of all; mighty, riding bull and horse, the bull, and bull-eyed.
वृषभश्चैव विख्यातो लोकानां लोकसत्कृतः। चन्द्रादित्यौ चक्षुषी ते हृदयञ्च पितामहः। अग्निरापस्तथा देवो धर्मकर्मप्रसाधितः ।। ३०.
He is the renowned bull, honored by the worlds; the moon and sun are your eyes, the heart is the grandsire; fire, water, and the god established by righteous action.
न ब्रह्मा न च गोविन्दः पुराणऋषयो न च। माहात्म्यं वेदितुं शक्ता याथातथ्येन ते शिव ।। ३०.
Neither Brahmā, nor Govinda, nor the ancient sages are able to know your greatness as it truly is, O Śiva.
या मूर्त्तयः सुसूक्ष्मास्ते न मह्यं यान्ति दर्शनम्। ताभिर्णां सततं रक्ष पिता पुत्रमिवौरसम् ।। ३०.
Those forms which are extremely subtle and do not appear to me—protect me always with them, as a father protects his own son.
रक्ष मां रक्षणीयोऽहं तवानघ नमोऽस्तु ते ३०.
Protect me, for I am to be protected by you, O faultless one; salutations to you.
यः सहस्राण्यनेकानि पुंसामाहृत्य दुर्द्दशः। तिष्ठत्येकः समुद्रान्ते स मे गोप्तास्तु नित्यशः ।। ३०.
He who, having seized thousands upon thousands of men, stands alone at the edge of the ocean—may he always be my protector.
यं विनिद्रा जितश्वासाः सत्त्वस्थाः समदर्शिनः। ज्योतिः पश्यन्ति युञ्जानास्तस्मै योगात्मने नमः ।। ३०.
Those who are sleepless, who have mastered their breath, who are steadfast in sattva and see all equally—while practicing yoga, they behold that light; salutations to that soul of yoga.
सम्भक्ष्य सर्व भूतानि युगान्ते समुपस्थिते। यः शेते जलमध्यस्थस्तं प्रपद्येऽप्सुशायिनम् ।। ३०.
He who, at the end of the age, having consumed all beings, lies in the midst of the waters—to that one who rests upon the waters, I take refuge.
प्रविश्य वदने राहोर्यः सोमं ग्रसते निशि । ग्रसत्यर्कञ्च स्वर्भानुर्भुत्वा सोमाग्निरेव च ।। ३०.
He who, entering the mouth of Rāhu, devours the moon at night—Swarbhānu, having become both the moon and fire, devours even the sun.
येऽङ्गुष्ठमात्राः पुरुषा देहस्थाः सर्वदेहिनाम्। रक्षन्तु ते हि मां नित्यं नित्यमाप्याययन्तु माम् ।। ३०.
May those persons, the size of a thumb, who dwell in the bodies of all embodied beings, always protect me and ever nourish me.
ये चाप्युत्पतिता गर्भादधोभागगताश्च ये। तेषां स्वाहाः स्वधाश्चैव आप्नुवन्तु स्वदन्तु च ।। ३०.
And those who have arisen from the womb, and those who have gone below—may they obtain svāhā and svadhā, and may they be satisfied.
ये न रोदन्ति देहस्थाः प्राणिनो रोदयन्ति च। हर्षयन्ति च हृष्यन्ति नमस्तेभ्योऽस्तु नित्यशः ।। ३०.
Those beings who do not weep within the body, but cause others to weep, who bring joy and themselves rejoice—salutations to them always.
ये समुद्रे नदीदुर्गे पर्वतेषु गुहासु च। वृक्षमूलेषु गोष्ठेषु कान्तारगहनेषु न ।। ३०.
Those who are in the ocean, in river-forts, on mountains, in caves, at the roots of trees, in cow-pens, and in the depths of the wilderness—
चतुष्पथेषु रथ्यासु चत्वरेषु सभासु च। चन्द्रार्कयोर्मध्यगता ये च चन्द्रार्करश्मिषु ।। ३०.
At crossroads, in streets, in squares, in assemblies, those who are between the moon and the sun, and those in the rays of the moon and sun—
रसातलगता ये च ये च तस्मात्परङ्गताः। नमस्तेभ्यो नमस्तेभ्यो नमस्तेभ्यश्च नित्यशः। सूक्ष्माः स्थूलाः कृशा ह्रस्वा नमस्तेभ्यस्तु नित्यशः ।। ३०.
Those who dwell in the netherworlds and those who are beyond them—salutations to them, salutations to them, salutations to them always; whether subtle, gross, thin, or short—salutations to them always.
सर्वस्त्वं सर्वगो देव सर्वभूतपतिर्भवान्। सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा च तेन त्वं न निमन्त्रितः ।। ३०.
You are all, you pervade all, O god; you are the lord of all beings; you are the inner soul of all beings; therefore, you are not to be invited.
त्वमेव चेज्यसे यस्माद्यज्ञैर्विविधदक्षिणैः। त्वमेव कर्त्ता सर्वस्य तेन त्वं न निमन्त्रितः ।। ३०.
You alone are worshipped by sacrifices with various offerings; you alone are the doer of all; therefore, you are not to be invited.
अथ वा मायया देव मोहितः सूक्ष्मया त्वया। एतस्मात् कारणाद्वापि तेन त्वं न निमन्त्रितः ।। ३०.
Or, O god, perhaps by your subtle māyā I am deluded; or for this reason—therefore, you are not to be invited.
प्रसीद मम देवेश त्वमेव शरणं मम। त्वं गतिस्त्वं प्रतिष्ठा च न चान्यास्ति न मे गतिः ।। ३०.
Be gracious to me, O lord of the gods; you alone are my refuge; you are my goal, you are my foundation; there is no other, nor do I have any other way.
