And how, by lordship, the gods were cursed and born from Svayambhuva; the favor of the Maruts, the Maruts born from Diti, and the gods arising from portions.
कीर्त्त्यन्ते मरुताञ्चाथ गणास्ते सप्तसप्तकाः। देवत्वं पितृवाक्येन वायुस्कन्धेन चाश्रयः
The Maruts are described, and their groups, seven by seven; their divinity by the words of the ancestors, and their support by the troop of Vayu.
दैत्यानां दानवानाञ्च गन्धर्वोरगरक्षसाम्। सर्वभूतपिशाचानां पशूनां पक्षिवीरुधाम्। उत्पत्तयश्चाप्सरसां कीर्त्त्यन्ते बहुविस्तरात्
