श्वेतार्को गणनाथश्च वसवोऽष्टौ मुनीश्वराः। रुद्राश्चैकादशैवाथ तथा सप्तर्षयोऽपरे ।। ४७.
Śvetārka, Gaṇanātha, the eight Vasus, the great sages, the eleven Rudras, and likewise the other seven Ṛṣis—
सोमनाथश्च सिद्धेशः कपर्द्दीशो विनायकः। नारायणो महालक्ष्मीर्ब्रह्मा श्रीपुरुषोत्तमः ।। ४७.
Somanātha, Siddheśa, Kaparddiśa, Vināyaka, Nārāyaṇa, Mahālakṣmī, Brahmā, and Śrīpuruṣottama—
मार्कण्डेयेशः कौटीशो ह्यङ्गिरेशः पितामहः। जनार्दनो मङ्गला च पुण्डरीकाक्ष उत्तमः ।। ४७.
Mārkaṇḍeyeśa, Kauṭīśa, Aṅgireśa, Pitāmaha, Janārdana, Maṅgalā, and Puṇḍarīkākṣa the supreme—
इत्यादिव्यक्तरूपेण स्थितश्चादिगदाधरः। हेतिर्यो राक्षसस्तस्मिन्हते विष्णुः पुरं गतः ।। ४७.
Thus, in these and other manifest forms, the original wielder of the mace abides; when the demon Heti was slain there, Viṣṇu returned to his abode.
ब्रह्मणा सह रुद्राद्यैः कारिते निश्चलेऽसुरे । तुष्टावाद्यगदापाणिं वेधा हर्षेण निर्वृतः ।। ४७.
When the demon was made immovable by Brahmā together with Rudra and the others, the creator joyfully praised the primordial wielder of the mace.
ब्रह्मोवाच।। गदाधरं व्यपगतकालकल्मषं गयागतं विदितगुणं गुणातिगम्। गुहागतं गिरिवरगौरगेहगं गणार्च्चितं वरदमहं नमामि ।। ४७.
Brahmā said: 'I bow to the wielder of the mace, free from the taint of time, who has come to Gayā, whose virtues are known, who transcends qualities, who dwells in the cave, who resides in the abode of the great mountain, who is worshipped by hosts, and who grants boons.'
अहःश्रियं त्रिदशगणादिसुश्रियं भवश्रियं दितिभवदारणश्रियम्। कलिश्रियं कलिमलमर्दनश्रियं गदाधरं नौमि तमाश्रितश्रियम् । ४७.
I bow to the wielder of the mace, whose glory shines in the day, among the hosts of gods, in prosperity, in the destruction of demons, in the burning of evil, in the age of Kali, in the crushing of sin, and who is the refuge of all splendor.
दृढादॄढं परिवृढगाढसंस्तुतं कामाद्भुतं सुदृढमरूढिरूढिगम्। तमाढ्यगं दृढदुरिताद्यढौकितं स्वढौकृतं दृढतरगोत्रसूक्तिभम् ।। ४७.
I praise him who is firm, exceedingly strong, greatly extolled, wondrous in fulfilling desires, steadfast, ascending ever higher, rich, the remover of deep-rooted evils, self-established, and whose lineage is praised with powerful hymns.
विदेहकं करणकलाविवर्जितं विजन्मकं दिवकरवेदिभूषितम्। गदाधरं ध्वनिमुखवर्जितं परं नमाम्यहं सतत मनादिमीश्वरं हरिम् ।। ४७.
I always bow to Hari, the supreme Lord, who is beyond the body, free from the arts of action, whose birth is transcendent, adorned by the altar of the sun, the wielder of the mace, beyond the reach of sound, and eternal.
मनोऽतिगं मतिगतिवर्जितं परं सदाद्वयं स्तुतिशिरसि संस्तुतं बुधैः। चिदात्मकं कलिगतकारणातिगं गदाधरं हृदयगतं नमामि तम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the wielder of the mace, who transcends the mind, is beyond the movement of intellect, ever non-dual, praised by the wise in the foremost hymns, whose nature is consciousness, who surpasses the causes of Kali, and who dwells in the heart.
सनत्कुमार उवाच।। देवैः सार्द्धं ब्रह्मणैवं स्तुतश्चादिगदाधरः । ऊचे वरं वृणीष्व त्वं वरं ब्रह्मा तमब्रवीत् ।। ४७.
Sanatkumara said: Thus, the primordial wielder of the mace was praised by Brahma together with the gods. He said, 'Choose a boon.' Brahma replied to him.
शिलायां देवरूपिण्यां न तिष्ठामस्त्वया विना। स्थास्यामोऽत्र त्वया सार्द्धं नित्यं व्यक्तादिरूपिणा ।। ४७.
Without you, we will not remain in the divine form within the stone; we will stay here always with you, manifest in the primordial form.
एवमस्तु श्रिया सार्द्धं स्थितश्चादिगदाधरः। लोकानां रक्षणार्थाय जगतां मुक्तिहेतवे। सुव्यक्तः पुण्डरीकाक्षो जनार्दन इति श्रुतः ।। ४७.
So be it. The primordial wielder of the mace remained there with Śrī, for the protection of the worlds and for the liberation of all beings, manifest as Puṇḍarīkākṣa, known as Janārdana.
वेदैरगम्या या मूर्त्तिरादिभूता सनातनी। सुव्यक्ता श्वेतकल्पे सा भविष्यति तथा पुनः। वाराहकल्पे ह्यव्यक्ता व्यक्तिमप्यगमत्पुरा ।। ४७.
The form which is eternal and primordial, inaccessible by the Vedas, will become manifest in the Śveta Kalpa, and again in the future; in the Vārāha Kalpa, it was unmanifest but attained manifestation before.
सन्तारणाय लोकानां देवानां रक्षणाय च। गयाशिरसि सुव्यक्तो भविष्यति न संशयः ।। ४७.
For the deliverance of the worlds and the protection of the gods, he will become manifest on the summit of Gayā; there is no doubt.
ये द्रक्ष्यन्ति सदा भक्त्या देवमादिगदाधरम्। कुष्ठरोगादिनिर्म्मुक्ता यास्यन्ति हरिमन्दिरम् ।। ४७.
Those who always behold the primordial wielder of the mace with devotion will be freed from leprosy and other diseases, and will go to the abode of Hari.
ये द्रक्ष्यन्ति सदा भक्त्या देवमादिगदाधरम्। ते प्राप्स्यन्ति धनं धान्यमायुरारोग्यमेव च ।। ४७.
Those who always behold the primordial wielder of the mace with devotion will obtain wealth, grain, longevity, and health.
कलत्रपुत्रपौत्रादिगुणकीर्त्तिसुखानि च। श्रद्धया ये नमस्यन्ति राज्यं ब्रह्मपुरं तथा। भुक्त्वा व्रजेयुः सततं पुण्यपुञ्जफलं नराः ।। ४७.
Those who worship with faith will attain the joys of wife, children, grandchildren, virtues, fame, and happiness; they will also gain kingdoms and Brahma's city, and after enjoying the fruits of accumulated merit, will ever proceed onward.
गन्धदानेन गन्धाढ्यः सौभाग्यं पुष्पदानतः। धूपदानेन राज्याप्तिर्दीपाद्दीप्तिर्भविष्यति ।। ४७.
By offering fragrance, one becomes rich in scents; by offering flowers, one attains good fortune; by offering incense, one obtains sovereignty; by offering lamps, one gains brilliance.
ध्वजदानात्पापहानिर्यात्राकृद्ब्रह्मलोकभाक्। श्राद्धपिण्डप्रदो यस्तु विष्णुं नेष्यति वै पितॄन् ।। ४७.
By offering flags, sin is destroyed; the one who undertakes pilgrimage attains the world of Brahma; whoever offers śrāddha and oblations to Viṣṇu will lead the ancestors to him.
श्रद्धया ये नमस्यन्ति सतोत्रेणादिगदाधरम्। स्तोष्यन्ति च समभ्यर्च्य पितॄन्नेष्यन्ति माधवम्। शिवोऽपि परया प्रीत्या तुष्टावादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
Those who worship the primordial wielder of the mace with faith and true hymns, and after worship praise him, will lead their ancestors to Mādhava; even Śiva, with supreme affection, praised the primordial wielder of the mace.
अव्यक्तरूपो यो देवो मुण्डपृष्ठादिरूपतः । फल्गुतीर्थादिरूपेण नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, the god whose form is unmanifest, who appears as Muṇḍapṛṣṭha and other forms, and as the sacred sites of Phalgu and others.
व्यक्ताव्यक्तस्वरूपेण पदरूपेण संस्थितः। मुखलिङ्गादिरूपेण नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, who abides in both manifest and unmanifest forms, in the form of the foot, and in the forms of the face and other marks.
अव्यक्तरूपो यो देवो जनार्दनस्वरूपतः। मुण्डपृष्ठे स्वयं जातो नामाम्यादिगदा धरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, the god whose form is unmanifest, who is of the nature of Janārdana, and who himself appeared at Muṇḍapṛṣṭha.
शिलायां देवरूपिण्यां स्थितं ब्रह्मादिभिः सुरैः। पूजितं सत्कृतं देवैस्तं नमामि गदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the wielder of the mace, who is established upon the divine stone, honored and worshipped by Brahma and the other gods.
यं च दृष्ट्वा ततः स्पृष्ट्वा पूजयित्वा प्रणम्य च । श्राद्धादौ ब्रह्मलोकाप्तिर्नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, seeing, touching, worshipping, and saluting whom at the beginning of a śrāddha brings attainment of Brahma's world.
महदादेश्च जगतो व्यक्तस्यैकं हि कारणम्। अव्यक्तज्ञानरूपं तं नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, who alone is the cause of the manifest universe from the great elements, whose nature is knowledge of the unmanifest.
देहेन्द्रियमनोबुद्धिप्राणाहङ्कारवर्जितम्। जाग्रत्स्वप्नविनिर्मुक्तं नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, who is free from body, senses, mind, intellect, vital breath, and ego, and is untouched by waking and dreaming.
नित्यानित्यविनिर्मुक्तं सत्यमानन्दमव्ययम्। तुरीयं ज्योतिरात्मानं नमाम्यादिगदाधरम् ।। ४७.
I bow to the primordial wielder of the mace, who is free from both the eternal and the non-eternal, who is truth, bliss, imperishable, the fourth state, the radiant self.
एवं स्तुतो महेशेन प्रीतो ह्यादिगदाधरः। स्थितो देवः शिलायां स ब्रह्माद्यैर्दैवतैः सह ।। ४७.
Thus praised by Maheśa, the primordial wielder of the mace was pleased, and the god remained upon the stone together with Brahma and the other deities.
