Vayu Purana

सुनेमिर्द्युतपाश्चैव सुशर्म्माणः प्रकीर्त्तिताः। तेषामिन्द्रस्तदा भाव्यो ह्यद्भुतो नाम नामतः ।। ३८.

Sunemi and Dyutapā are also named among the Suśarmāṇas. Their Indra will be called Adbhuta by name.

स्कन्दः सोमप्रतीकाशः कार्तिकेयस्तु पावकः। माघातिथिश्च पौलस्त्यो वसुः काश्यप एव च ।। ३८.

Skanda, resembling Soma, Kārtikeya, Pāvaka, Māghātithi, Paulastya, Vasu, and Kāśyapa are included.

ज्योतिष्मान् भार्गवश्चैव द्युतिमानङ्गिरास्तथा। वसितश्चैव वासिष्ठ आत्रेयो हव्यवाहनः ।। ३८.

Jyotiṣmān, Bhārgava, Dyutimān, Aṅgiras, Vasita, Vāsiṣṭha, Ātreya, and Havyavāhana are also named.

सुतपाः पौलवश्चैव सप्तैते रोहितान्तरे। धृतिकेतुदीप्तिकेतुशापहस्ता निरामयः ।। ३८.

Sutapā and Paulava, these seven are within Rohita's line: Dhṛtiketudīptiketu, Śāpahasta, and Nirāmaya.

पृथुश्रवास्तथा नाको भूरिद्युम्नो बृहद्रथः। प्रथमस्य तु सावर्णेर्नव पुत्राः प्रकीर्तिताः ।। ३८.

Pṛthuśravas, Nāka, Bhūridyumna, Bṛhadratha—these are the nine sons named for the first Sāvarṇi.

दशमे त्वथ पर्याये धर्मपुत्रस्य वै मनोः। द्वितीयस्य तु सावर्णेर्भाव्यस्यैवान्तरे मनोः ।। ३८.

In the tenth cycle, the sons of Dharma's son, Manu; in the second Sāvarṇi, and in the interval of the future Manu.

सुखामना विरुद्धाश्च द्वावेव तु गणौ स्मृतौ। त्विषिवन्तश्च ते सर्वे शतसङ्ख्याश्च ते समाः ।। ३८.

Sukhāmanā and Viruddha are the two groups remembered; all of them are Tviṣivanta, numbering a hundred.

प्राणा नायच्छतः प्रोक्त ऋषिभिः पुरुषेषु वै। देवास्ते वै भविष्यन्ति धर्मपुत्रस्य वै मनोः ।। ३८.

The Prāṇas, who do not lead, are spoken of by the sages among men; these will be the gods of Dharma's son, Manu.

तेषामिन्द्रस्तथा विद्वान् भविष्यः शान्तिरुच्यते। हविष्मान् पौलहः श्रीमान् सुकीर्तिश्चापि भार्गवः ।। ३८.

Among them, Indra, the wise, will be called Bhaviṣya and Śānti; Haviṣmān, Paulaha, Śrīmān, and Sukīrti, also Bhārgava.

आपोमूर्तिस्तथात्रेयो वसिष्ठश्चापि यः स्मृतः। पौलस्त्यः प्रतिपश्चापि नाभागश्चैव काश्यपः। अभिमन्युश्चाङ्गिरसः सप्तैते परमर्षयः ।। ३८.

Āpomūrti, Ātreya, Vasiṣṭha, Paulastya, Pratipa, Nābhāga, Kāśyapa, and Abhimanyu, Aṅgirasa—these seven are the supreme sages.

सुक्षेत्रश्चोत्तमौजाश्च भूरिषेणश्च वीर्यवान्। शतानीको निरामित्रो वृषसेनो जयद्रथः ।। ३८.

Sukṣetra, Uttamaujā, Bhūriṣeṇa the mighty, Śatānīka, Nirāmitra, Vṛṣasena, and Jayadratha.

भूरिद्युम्नः सुवर्च्चाश्च दशैते मानवाः स्मृताः। एकादशे तु पर्य्याये सावर्णे वै तृतीयके ।। ३८.

Bhūridyumna and Suvarcā are also remembered as ten sons of Manu; in the eleventh cycle, in the third Sāvarṇi.

निर्म्माणरतयो देवाः कामजा वै मनोजवाः। गणास्त्वेते त्रयः ख्याता देवतानां महात्मनाम् ।। ३८.

The gods who delight in creation, born of desire and swift as thought; these three groups are renowned among the great-souled deities.

एकैकं त्रिंशतस्तेषां गणास्तु त्रिदिवौकसाम्। मासस्याहानि त्रिंशत्तु यानि वै कवयो विदुः ।। ३८.

Of these, each group of the celestial beings consists of thirty; and the wise know that the days of a month are thirty.

निर्म्माणरतयो देवा रात्रयस्तु विहङ्गमाः। गणास्ते वै त्रयः प्रोक्ता देवतानां भविष्यति ।। ३८.

The gods delighting in creation are the days, and the birds are the nights; these are said to be three groups of the deities in the future.

मनोजवा मुहूर्त्तास्तु इति देवाः प्रकीर्त्तिताः । एते हि ब्रह्मणः पुत्रा भविष्या मनवः स्मृताः ।। ३८.

The swift-moving moments are called the gods; these are indeed considered the sons of Brahma, who will become the future Manus.

तेषामिन्द्रो वृषो नाम भविष्यः सुरराट् ततः। तेषां सप्तर्षयश्चापि कीर्त्त्यमानान्निबोधत ।। ३८.

Among them, the name of the future Indra, lord of the gods, will be Vrisha; and now listen to the names of their seven sages.

हविष्मान् काश्यपश्चापि वपुष्मान् यश्च भार्गवः। वारुणिश्चैव चात्रेयो वासिष्ठो भग एव च ।। ३८.

Havishman, Kashyapa, Vapusman, the descendant of Bhrigu, Varuni, Atreya, Vasistha, and also Bhaga.

पुष्टिश्चाङ्गिरसो ज्ञेयः पौलस्त्यो निश्चरस्तथा। पौलहो ह्यग्नितेजाश्च देवा ह्येकादशेऽन्तरे ।। ३८.

Pushti, the Angirasa, is to be known, as well as Paulastya and Nishcara; Paulaha and those of fiery energy—these are the gods in the eleventh cycle.

सर्व्ववेगः सुधर्म्मा च देवानीकः पुरोवहः। क्षेमधर्मा गृहेषुश्च ह्यादर्शः पौण्ड्रको मनः ।। ३८.

Sarvavega, Sudharma, Devanika, Purovaha, Kṣemadharma, Griheshu, Adarsha, Paundraka, and Manas.

सावर्णस्य तु ते पुत्राः प्राजापत्यस्य वै मनोः। द्वादशे त्वथ पर्याये रुद्रपुत्रस्य वै मनोः ।। ३८.

These are the sons of Savarni, the Prajapatya Manu; and in the twelfth cycle, the sons of the Manu who is the son of Rudra.

चतुर्थे ऋतुसावर्णे देवास्तस्यान्तरे श्रृणु। पञ्चैव तु गणाः प्रोक्ता देवतानामनागताः ।। ३८.

In the fourth, that of Ritusavarni, listen to the gods in that cycle; five groups of future deities are mentioned.

हरिता रोहिताश्चैव देवाः सुमनसस्तथा। सुकर्म्माणः सुपाराश्च पञ्च देवगणाः स्मृताः ।। ३८.

The Haritas, the Rohitas, the Sumanasas, the Sukarmans, and the Suparas—these five are considered groups of gods.

ब्रह्मणो मानसा ह्येते एकैको दशको गणः। अरुन्तिजो हरिश्चैव विद्वान् यश्च सहस्रशः ।। ३८.

These are the mind-born sons of Brahma, each group consisting of ten; Aruntija, Hari, the wise one, and Sahasrasha.

पर्वतानुचरश्चैव ह्यपोंऽशुश्च मनोजवः। उर्ज्जा स्वाहा स्वधा तारा दशैते रोहिताः स्मृताः ।। ३८.

The follower of the mountains, Apamshu, Manojava, Urja, Svaha, Svadha, Tara—these ten are known as the Rohitas.

तपोजानिर्भृतिश्चैव वाचा बन्धुश्च यः स्मृतः । रजश्चैव तु राजश्च स्वर्णपादस्तथैव च ।। ३८.

Tapojani, Bhrti, Vacha, Bandhu, Raja, Rajah, and Svarnapada as well.

व्युष्टिर्विधिश्च वै देवो दशैते रोहिताः स्मृताः । उषिताद्यास्तु ये देवास्त्रयस्त्रिशत्प्रकीर्तिताः ।। ३८.

Vyushti, Vidhi—these ten are known as the Rohitas; and the gods beginning with Ushita are said to be three hundred and thirty.

देवान् सुमनसो विद्धि सुकर्माणो निबोधत। सुपर्वा वृषभः पृष्टः कृपिद्युम्नौ विपश्चितः ।। ३८.

Know the Sumanasa gods, and listen to the Sukarmans: Suparva, Vrishabha, Prishta, Kripidyu, and Vipascit.

विक्रमश्च क्रमश्चैव निभृतः कान्त एव च ३८.

Vikrama, Krama, Nibhrita, and Kanta as well.
