विन्दानुविन्दावावन्त्यौ भ्रातरौ सुमहाबलौ। श्रुतश्रवायां चैद्यस्तु शिशुपालो बभूव ह ।। ३४.
Vindānuvinda, the two powerful brothers of Avanti, and from Śrutaśravā, the Caidya, was born Śiśupāla.
दमघोषस्य राजर्षेः पुत्रो विख्यातपौरुषः। यः पुरासीद्दशग्रीवः संबभूवारिमर्दनः ।। ३४.
To the royal sage Damaghoṣa was born a son famed for his prowess, who was formerly Daśagrīva, the crusher of enemies.
यदुश्रवानुजस्तस्य रुजकन्योऽनुजस्तथा। पत्न्यस्तु वसुदेवस्य त्रयोदश वराङ्गनाः ।। ३४.
His younger brother was Yaduśravā, and his younger sister was the daughter of Rujā; Vasudeva had thirteen illustrious wives.
पौरवी रोहिणी चैव मदिरा चापरा तथा। तथैव भद्रा वैशाखी देवकी सप्तमी तथा ।। ३४.
Pauravī, Rohiṇī, and also Madirā, another named Bhadrā, Vaiśākhī, and the seventh was Devakī.
सुगन्धिर्वनराजी च द्वे चान्ये परिचारिके ३४.
Sugandhi and Vanarājī, and two others who were attendants.
ज्येष्ठा पत्नी महाभागा दयितानकदुन्दुभेः । ज्येष्ठं लेभे सुतं रामं सारणं निशवं तथा ।। ३४.
The eldest and most fortunate wife, beloved of Anakadundubhi, bore the eldest son Rāma, as well as Sāraṇa and Niśa.
दुर्द्दमं दमनं शुभ्रं पिण्डारककुशीतकौ। चित्रां नाम कुमारीञ्च रोहिण्यष्टौ व्यजायत ।। ३४.
To Rohiṇī were born eight: Durddama, Damana, Śubhra, Piṇḍāraka, Kuśītaka, and a daughter named Citrā.
पौत्रौ रामस्य जज्ञाते विज्ञातौ निशितोत्सुकौ। पार्श्वी च पार्श्वनन्दी च शिशुः सत्यधृतिस्तथा ।। ३४.
To Rāma were born two grandsons, renowned as Niśita and Utsuka; also Pārśvī, Pārśvanandī, and a son named Satyadhṛti.
मन्दबाह्योऽथ रामाणगिरिकौ गिर एव च। शुक्लगुल्मेति गुल्मश्च दरिद्रान्तक एव च ।। ३४.
Mandabāhya, Rāmāṇa, Girika, Gira, Śuklagulma, Gulma, and Daridrāntaka.
कुमार्यश्चापि पञ्चाद्या नामतस्ता निबोधत। अर्चिष्मती सुनन्दा च सुरसा सुवचास्तथा ।। ३४.
Now hear the names of the first five daughters: Arciṣmatī, Sunandā, Surasā, and Suvacā.
तथा शतबला चैव सारणस्य सुतास्त्विमाः। भद्राश्वो भद्रगुप्तिश्च भद्रविघ्नस्तथैव च ।। ३४.
Likewise, here are the daughters of Sāraṇa: Śatabalā, Bhadrāśva, Bhadragupti, and Bhadravighna.
भद्रबाहुर्भद्ररथो भद्रकल्पस्तथैव च। सुपार्श्वकः कीर्त्तिमांश्च रोहिताश्वश्च भद्रजः ।। ३४.
Bhadrabāhu, Bhadraratha, Bhadrakalpa, Supārśvaka, Kīrttimān, Rohitāśva, and Bhadraja are also named.
दुर्म्मदश्चाभिभूतश्च रोहिण्याः कुलजाः स्मृताः । नन्दोपनन्तदौ मित्रश्च कुक्षिमित्रस्तथाचलः ।। ३४.
Durmada and Abhibhūta are known as the sons born in the lineage of Rohiṇī; Nanda, Upananda, Mitra, Kukṣimitra, and Acala are also included.
चित्रोप चित्रे कन्ये च स्थितः पुष्टिरथापरः। मदिरायाः सुता ह्येते सुदेवोऽथ विजज्ञिरे ।। ३४.
Citropa and Citra are established as sons, along with Puṣṭi as another; these are the sons of Madirā, and Sudeva was also born.
उपबिम्बोऽथ बिम्बश्च सत्त्वदन्तमहौजसौ। चत्वार एते विख्याता भद्रापुत्रा महाबलाः ।। ३४.
Upabimba and Bimba, Sattvadanta and Mahaujas—these four are renowned, mighty sons of Bhadra.
वैशाख्यां समदाच्छौरिः पुत्रं कौशिकमुत्तमम्। देवक्यां जज्ञिरे शौरिः सुषेणः कीर्तिमानपि ।। ३४.
From Vaiśākhī, Samada and Śauri produced the excellent son Kauśika; from Devakī, Śauri begot Suṣeṇa, who was also renowned.
तदयो भद्रसेनश्च यजुदायश्च पञ्चमः। षष्ठो भद्रविदेकश्च कंसः सर्वाञ्जघान तान् ।। ३४.
Tadaya, Bhadrasena, Yajudāya as the fifth, Bhadravideka as the sixth; Kaṃsa killed all of them.
अथ तस्यामवस्थायामायुष्मान् संबभूव ह। लोक नाथः पुनर्विष्णुः पूर्वकृष्णः प्रजापतिः ।। ३४.
Then, at that time, the long-lived Lord Viṣṇu, the previous Kṛṣṇa, the progenitor of beings, was born again.
अनुजाताऽभवत् कृष्णा सुभद्रा भद्रभाषिणी। कृष्णा सुभद्रेति पुनर्व्याख्याता वृष्णिनन्दिनी ।। ३४.
Kṛṣṇā, called Subhadrā and Bhadrabhāṣiṇī, was born as his younger sister; Kṛṣṇā, known as Subhadrā, was again described as the delight of the Vṛṣṇis.
सुभद्रायां रथी पार्थादभिमन्युरजायत। वसुदेवस्य भार्यासु महाभागासु सप्तसु। ये पुत्रा जज्ञिरेशूरा नामतस्तान्निबोधत ।। ३४.
From Subhadrā, the charioteer Pārtha begot Abhimanyu; among the seven illustrious wives of Vasudeva, listen to the names of the heroic sons who were born.
अतोऽस्य सह देवायां शूरो जज्ञेऽभयासखः। शार्ङ्गदेवाजनत्तम्बुं शौरी जज्ञे कुलोद्वहम् ।। ३४.
Thus, with Devā, Śūra begot Abhayāsakha; Śārṅgadeva produced Tambu, and Śauri begot Kulodvaha.
उपसङ्गं वसुञ्चापि तनयौ देवरक्षितौ। एवं दश सुतास्तस्य कंसस्तानप्यघातयत् ।। ३४.
Upasaṅga and Vasu, sons protected by the gods, were also born; thus, Kaṃsa killed these ten sons as well.
विजयं रोजनञ्चैव वर्द्धमानं तथैव च। एतान् सर्व्वान् महाभागानुपदेवा व्यजायत ।। ३४.
Vijaya, Rojana, and Vardhamāna—these illustrious sons were born from Upadevā.
स्वगाहवं महात्मानं वृक देवी त्वजायत । आगाही च स्वसा चैव सुरूपा शिशिरायिणी ।। ३४.
Vṛka Devī gave birth to Svagāhava, a great soul; Āgāhī and Svasā, as well as Surūpā and Śiśirāyiṇī, were also born.
सप्तमं देवकीपुत्रं सुनासा सुषुवे भुवम्। गवेषणं महाभागं सङ्ग्रामे चित्र योधिनम् ।। ३४.
The seventh son of Devakī, Sunāsā, was born on earth; Gaveṣaṇa, illustrious and a distinguished warrior in battle.
श्राद्धदेवं पुरा येन वने विरचिता द्विजाः। शैब्यायामददच्छौरिः पुत्रं कौशिकमव्ययम् ।। ३४.
Śrāddhadeva, for whom the twice-born performed rites in the forest, was given by Śauri to Śaibyā as an imperishable son, Kauśika.
सुगन्धी वनराजी च शौरेरास्तां परिग्रहः। पुण्ड्रश्च कपिलश्चैव वसुदेवात्मजौ हि तौ। तयो राजाऽभवत् पुण्ड्रः कपिलस्तु वनं ययो ।। ३४.
Sugandhī and Vanarājī were wives of Śauri; Puṇḍra and Kapila, sons of Vasudeva, were born to them. Puṇḍra became king, while Kapila went to the forest.
तस्यां समभवद्वीरो वसुदेवात्मजो बली। राजा नाम निषादोऽसौ प्रथमः स धनुर्द्धरः ।। ३४.
A mighty hero was born to Vasudeva from her; he was the first king named Niṣāda, bearer of the bow.
विख्यातो देवरातस्य महाभागः सुतोऽभवत्। पण्डितानां मतं प्राहुर्देवश्रवसमुद्भवम् ।। ३४.
The illustrious son of Devarata became renowned; the learned declare that he was born of Devaśravas.
अस्मक्यां लभते पुत्रमनादृष्टिं यशस्विनम्। निवर्त्तः शक्रशत्रुघ्नं श्राद्धदेवं महाबलम् ।। ३४.
In the Asmaka lineage, a son was obtained, famed and respected; Nivartta, mighty in strength, destroyer of Indra’s foes, and devoted to ancestral rites.
