तुला तु दृश्यते यत्र धर्माधर्मप्रदर्शिनी। यया वै तुलितं विप्रैस्तीर्थानां फलमुत्तमम् ।। १५.
There is seen a balance which reveals righteousness and unrighteousness; by which, when weighed by brāhmaṇas, the supreme fruit of the sacred places is known.
पितॄणां दुहिता योगा गन्धकालीति विश्रुता। चतुर्थो ब्रह्मणश्चांशः पराशरकुलोद्वहः ।। १५.
The daughter of the ancestors, known as Yogā and also called Gandhakālī, is renowned; she is a fourth part of Brahmā, and the glory of the lineage of Parāśara.
व्यस्य त्वेकं चतुर्द्धा तु वेदं धीमान् महामुनिः। महायोगं महात्मानं यो व्यासं जनयिष्यति ।। १५.
That wise and great sage will divide one Veda into four; he, the great yogin and great soul, will beget Vyāsa.
अच्छोदकं नाम सरो यत्राच्छोदा समुच्छ्रिता । मत्स्ययोनौ पुनर्जाता नियोगाद्वारणेन तु ।। १५.
There is a lake called Acchodaka, where Acchodā rose up; she was reborn in the womb of a fish, by the command of Vāraṇa.
तस्या यत्राश्रमः पुण्यः पुण्यकृद्भिर्निषेवितः। सकृद्दत्तं तु वै श्राद्धमक्षयं समुदाहृतम्। तस्यां योग समाधाने दत्तं युगपदुद्भवेत् ।। १५.
Where her holy hermitage is, frequented by the virtuous, a śrāddha offered even once there is declared imperishable; whatever is given there in yogic concentration arises at once.
कुबेरतुङ्गे व्यामोच्चे व्यासतीर्थे तथैव च। पुण्यः स ब्राह्मणो दद्याछ्राद्धमानन्त्यमक्षयम् ।। १५.
On the summit of Kubera, on the height of Vyāma, and likewise at Vyāsa Tīrtha, a brāhmaṇa who gives śrāddha there attains endless imperishable merit.
सिद्धैस्तु सेविता नित्यं दृश्यते नाकृतात्मभिः। अनिवर्त्तनं तु नन्दायां वेद्यां प्रागुत्तरे दिशि ।। १५.
It is always frequented by the perfected ones, and not seen by those of impure mind; there is no return from Nandā, at the altar in the northeast direction.
सिद्धक्षेत्रं तु वै जुष्टं यत्प्राप्य न निवर्त्तते। महालये पदं न्यस्तं महादेवेन धीमता ।। १५.
That field of the perfected ones is indeed cherished; having reached it, one does not return. In the great abode, the wise Mahādeva established his own place.
देव्यालये तपस्तप्त्वा एकपादेन ईश्वरः। नीहारश्च युगं दिव्यमुमातुङ्गे स्थितं जलम् ।। १५.
In the abode of the goddess, the Lord performed austerity standing on one foot; and the divine water, like mist, remains on the summit of Umā.
उमा तुङ्गे भृगोस्तुङ्गे ब्रह्मतुङ्गे महालये। काद्रवत्यां च शाण्डिल्यां गुहायां वामनस्य च ।। १५.
On the summit of Umā, on the summit of Bhṛgu, on the summit of Brahmā, at the great abode, at Kādravatī, at Śāṇḍilya, and in the cave of Vāmana as well.
गत्वा चैतानि पूतः स्याच्छ्राद्धमक्षयमेव च। जपो होमस्तथा ध्यानं यत्किचित्सुकृतं भवेत् ।। १५.
By going to these places, one becomes purified, and the śrāddha performed there is truly imperishable; likewise, any recitation, offering, meditation, or meritorious act done there bears great fruit.
ब्रह्मचर्यं यजन्ते वै गुरुभक्ताः शतं समाः । एवमादीनि सद्यस्तां स्नात्वा प्राप्नोति सत्फल्म् ।। १५.
Those devoted to their teacher practice celibacy for a hundred years as a sacrifice; by bathing in these places, one immediately attains such excellent results.
कुमारधारा तत्रैव दृष्टा पापप्रणाशनी। यानासनं च तत्रैव सद्यः स्याद्यत् प्रदृश्यते ।। १५.
There, the stream called Kumāradhārā is seen, which destroys sin; and there also, whatever seat or vehicle is seen, is immediately auspicious.

The great sacred place of Kāśyapa is known as Kālasarpi; there, one who desires imperishable merit should always offer śrāddha.

Śrāddha performed all around Śālagrāma is indeed imperishable; there, it is not seen by the ordinary eye, but is directly perceived by one whose self is pure.
प्रत्यादेशो ह्यशिष्टानां शिष्टानां च निवेशनम् । तत्र चैव ह्रदे पुण्ये दिव्यो वै नागराड् यतः ।। १५.
There is a direct indication for the unworthy and a residence for the worthy; and in that holy lake, the divine lord of serpents dwells.
पिण्डं गृह्णाति हिसतां न गृह्णात्यसतां हि सः। अतिप्रदीप्तैर्भुजगैर्भोक्तुमन्नं न शक्यते ।। १५.
He accepts the offering from the virtuous, but does not accept it from the wicked; food cannot be eaten there because of the extremely blazing serpents.

Righteousness is directly seen at these two sacred places; and in the Devadāru forest as well, this is the example to be followed.
विधूतानि तु पापानि दृश्यन्ते सुकृतात्मना । भागीरथ्यां प्रयागे च नित्यमक्षय्यमुच्यते ।। १५.
Sins are indeed shaken off and seen to depart from the virtuous; at Bhāgīrathī and Prayāga, imperishability is always declared.
कालञ्जरे दशार्णायां नैमिषे कुरुजाङ्गले। वाराणस्यां नगर्यां तु देयं श्राद्धं तु यत्नतः ।। १५.
At Kālañjara, Daśārṇā, Naimiṣa, Kurujāṅgala, and in the city of Vārāṇasī, śrāddha should be offered with care.
तस्यां योगेश्वरो नित्यं तत्तस्यां दत्तमक्षयम्। दत्त्वा चैतेषु पूतः स्याच्छ्राद्धमानन्त्यमेव च ।। १५.
There, the lord of yoga is always present, and whatever is given there is imperishable; and by giving at these places, one becomes purified and the śrāddha becomes infinite.
तपो होमस्तथा ध्यानं यत् किञ्चित्सुकृतं भवेत्। लौहित्ये वैतरण्यां वै स्वर्णवेद्यां तथैव च ।। १५.
Austerity, offering, meditation, or any meritorious act performed at Lauhitya, Vaitaraṇī, or Svarṇavedī likewise bears great fruit.
सकृदेव समुद्रान्ते दृश्यते पुण्यकर्मभिः। गयायां धर्मपृष्ठे च सरसि ब्रह्मणस्तथा ।। १५.
Even once, at the edge of the ocean, meritorious deeds are seen; at Gayā, Dharmapṛṣṭha, and the lake of Brahmā as well.
गयायां गृध्रकूटे च श्राद्धं दत्तं महाफलम्। हिमञ्च पतते तत्र समन्तात् पञ्चयोजनम् ।। १५.
At Gayā and Gṛdhrakūṭa, śrāddha given yields great fruit; and there, snow falls all around for five yojanas.
भरतस्याश्रमे पुण्येऽरण्यं पुण्यतमं स्मृतम् । मतङ्गस्य पदं तत्र दृश्यते मांस चक्षुषा ।। १५.
In the holy hermitage of Bharata, the forest is remembered as most sacred; there, the footprint of Mataṅga is seen with the physical eye.
ख्यापितं धर्म्मसर्व्वस्वं लोकस्यास्य निदर्शनम्। एवं पञ्चवनं पुण्यं पुण्यकृद्भिर्निषेवितम्। यस्मिन्पाण्डुविशालेति तीर्थं सद्यो निदर्शनम् ।। १५.
The entirety of righteousness is proclaimed there as an example for the world; thus, the five sacred forests are frequented by the virtuous, and among them, the holy place called Pāṇḍuviśāla is immediately evident.
तुलामानैस्तथा चापैः शास्त्रैश्च विविधैस्तथा। उन्मज्जन्ति तथा लग्ने ये वै पापकृतो जनाः ।। १५.
By balances, bows, and various scriptures, those people who have committed sins are thus made to rise up at the proper time.
तृतीयायां तथा पादे निःस्वरे पावमण्डले। महाह्रदे वै कौशिक्यां दत्तं श्राद्धं महाफलम् ।। १५.
In the third quarter, likewise, at the place called Pavamaṇḍala, which is without a presiding deity, a śrāddha offered at the great lake Kauśikī yields great merit.
मुण्डपृष्ठे पदं न्यस्तं महादेवेन धीमता। बहून्दवेयुगांस्तप्त्वा तपस्तीव्रं सुदुश्चरम् ।। १५.
On Muṇḍapṛṣṭha, the wise Mahādeva placed his foot, having performed severe and difficult austerities for many divine ages.
