दिव्यैश्वन्दनवृक्षैश्च पादपैरुपशोभितम्। आपः स्वादनसम्पृक्ता वहन्ति सततंयतः ।। १५.
Adorned with divine sandalwood trees and other trees, the waters there are always mixed with sweet flavors and flow continuously.
नदी प्रवर्त्तते ताभ्यस्ताम्रपर्णीति नामतः। योषेव समहाखेदा दक्षिणं याति सागरम् ।। १५.
From those, the river named Tāmravarṇī flows forth; like a woman bearing great fatigue, she goes south to the ocean.
नद्यास्तस्यास्तु या आपो मूर्च्छमाना महोदधौ। शङ्खा भवन्ति मुक्ताश्च जायन्ते शङ्खमुक्तिकाः ।। १५.
The waters of that river, as they solidify in the great ocean, become conch shells and pearls, and conch pearls are produced.
उदकानयनं कृत्वा शङ्खमौक्तिकसंयुतम्। आधिभिर्व्याधिभिश्चैव मुक्ता यान्त्यमरावतीम् ।। १५.
By bringing water mixed with conch shells and pearls, people are freed from mental and physical afflictions and go to Amarāvatī.
चन्दनेभ्यः प्रयुक्तानां शङ्खानां मौक्तिकस्य च। पाप कर्तॄनपि पितॄंश्तारयन्ति यथा श्रुतिः ।। १५.
Conch shells and pearls, when consecrated with sandalwood, deliver even sinful ancestors, as the scripture declares.
चन्द्रतीर्थे कुमार्य्यान्तु कावेर्य्यां प्रभवेऽक्षये। श्रीपर्वतस्य तीर्थेषु वैकृते च तथा गिरौ ।। १५.
At the holy place of the moon, at the source of the Kaverī, inexhaustible, at the sacred places of Śrīparvata, and likewise on the Vaikṛta mountain.
एकस्था यत्र दृश्यन्ते वृक्षा ह्योशिरपर्वते। पालाशाः खादिरा बिल्वा प्लक्षाश्वत्थविकङ्कताः ।। १५.
Where trees are seen together on the mountain called Oshira—palasha, khadira, bilva, plaksha, ashvattha, and vikankata.
एतद्धि मण्डलं सिद्धं यज्ञीयं द्विजसत्तमाः। अस्मिन् मुक्त्वा जनोऽङ्गानि क्षिप्रं यात्यमरावतीम् ।। १५.
This circle is established as sacred for sacrifice, O best of twice-born; here, after leaving their bodies, people swiftly attain Amaravati.
कर्माणि स्वप्रयुक्तानि सिध्यन्ति प्रभवात्यये । दुष्प्रसक्तानि पितृषु प्रयुक्तानि भवन्त्युत ।। १५.
Actions performed by oneself succeed at the end of their influence; those strongly attached to ancestors, when performed for them, also bear fruit.
पितॄणां दुहिता पुण्या नर्मदा सरितां वरा। तत्र श्राद्धानि दत्तानि अक्षयाणि भवन्त्युत ।। १५.
Among ancestors, the virtuous daughter is Narmada, the foremost of rivers; offerings made there for ancestors become imperishable.
माठरस्य वने पुण्ये सिद्धचारणसेविते। अन्तर्द्धानं न गच्छन्ति सत्तास्तस्मिन्महागिरौ ।। १५.
In the sacred forest of Mathara, frequented by siddhas and charanas, beings on that great mountain do not become invisible.
विन्ध्ये चैव गिरौ पुण्ये धर्माधर्मनिदर्शनम्। पापधारां न पश्यन्ति धारां पश्यन्ति साधवः ।। १५.
On the Vindhya mountain, which is sacred and shows the distinction between righteousness and unrighteousness, the virtuous do not see the stream of sin, but see the stream of virtue.
तस्यां न दृश्यते पापं केषाञ्चित् पापकर्मणाम्। स्पष्टा भवति सा धारा प्रायशः शुभकर्मणाम् ।। १५.
In that place, sin is not seen for some who perform sinful deeds; the stream is clear, mostly for those who perform virtuous deeds.
कौशलायां मतङ्गस्य वापी पापनिषूदनी। स्नातास्तस्यां दिवं यान्ति कामचारविहङ्गमाः ।। १५.
In Kaushala, the pond of Matanga is a destroyer of sin; those who bathe there ascend to heaven, moving freely like birds.
कुमारकोशलातीर्थे पर्वते पालपञ्जरे। पाण्डु कूले समुद्रान्ते पण्डारकवने तथा ।। १५.
At the Kumara-Kosala ford, on the mountain with the enclosure of protectors, on the pale bank at the ocean's end, and likewise in the Pandaraka forest.
विमले च विपापे च सत्कृत्य प्रभवेऽभये। भीवृक्षे गृध्रकूटे च जम्बूमार्गे च नित्यशः ।। १५.
In Vimala and Vipapa, after honoring the source of fearlessness, at the Bhivriksha, the Gridhra peak, and always on the Jambu path.
असितस्य गुरोः पुण्ये योगाचार्यस्य धीमतः। तत्रापि श्राद्धमानन्त्यमसितायाञ्च नित्यशः ।। १५.
In the sacred place of Asita, the wise teacher of yoga, there too, offerings for ancestors are endless, and always so in Asita's place.
पुष्करेष्वक्षयं श्राद्धं तपश्चैव महाफलम्। महोदधौ प्रभासे च तस्मादेवं विनिर्द्दिशेत् ।। १५.
At Pushkara, offerings for ancestors are imperishable, and austerity yields great fruit; at the great ocean and Prabhasa, thus should one designate.
देविकायां वृषो नाम कूपः सिद्धनिषेवितः। समुत्पतन्ति तस्यापो गवां शब्देन नित्यशः ।। १५.
At Devika, there is a well named Vrisha, frequented by siddhas; its waters always rise with the sound of cows.
योगेश्वरैः सदा जुष्टः सर्वपापबहिष्कृतैः। दद्याच्छ्राद्धन्तु यस्तस्मिंस्तस्य वक्ष्यामि यत्फलम् ।। १५.
Always cherished by masters of yoga, who are free from all sin; whoever gives offerings for ancestors there, I will declare the fruit for him.
अक्षयं सार्वकामीयं श्राद्धं प्रीणाति वै पितॄन्। जातवेदः शिला तत्र साक्षादग्नेः सनातनी ।। १५.
The offering for ancestors there is imperishable and fulfills all desires, truly pleasing the ancestors; Jataveda, the stone there, is the eternal witness of Agni.
यस्त्वाग्निं प्रविशेत्तत्र नाकपृष्ठे स मोदते। अग्निः शान्तः पुनर्जातस्तस्मिन्दत्तं तदक्षयम् ।। १५.
Whoever enters the fire there does not rejoice in the highest heaven; the fire becomes calm and is reborn, and what is given there is imperishable.
दशाश्वमदिके तीर्थे तीर्थे पञ्चाश्वमेधिके। यथोद्दिष्टं फलं तेषां क्रतूनां नात्र संशयः ।। १५.
At the ford of ten Ashvamedhas, and at the ford of fifty Ashvamedhas, the fruit of those sacrifices is as declared; there is no doubt.
ख्यातं हयशिरो नाम तीर्थं सद्यो वरप्रदम्। श्राद्धं तत्र तदाक्षय्यं दत्त्वा स्वर्गे च मोदते ।। १५.
The ford named Hayashira is renowned, instantly granting boons; offerings for ancestors given there are imperishable, and one rejoices in heaven.
श्राद्धं कुम्भे विमुच्यन्ति ज्ञेयं पापनिषूदनम्। श्राद्धं तत्राक्षयं प्रोक्तं जप्यहोमतपांसि च ।। १५.
Śrāddha offerings placed in a pot are to be known as destroyers of sin; śrāddha performed there is said to be imperishable, as are recitation, oblation, and austerities.
अझतुङ्गे शुभे तीर्थे तर्पयेत्सततं पितॄन्। दृश्यते पर्वसु च्छाया यत्र नित्यं दिवौकसाम्। पृथिव्यामक्षयं दत्तं निरुजा यत्र पाण्डवाः ।। १५.
At the lofty and auspicious holy place, one should always satisfy the ancestors; there, on festival days, the shadow of the celestial beings is always seen; whatever is given on earth there is imperishable, and the Pāṇḍavas were free from disease there.
योगेश्वरैः सदा जुष्टं सर्वपापबहिष्कृतैः। दद्याच्छ्राद्धन्तु यस्तस्मिस्तस्य वक्ष्यामि यत्फलम् ।। १५.
That place is always frequented by masters of yoga, who are free from all sin; whoever performs śrāddha there, I shall declare to you the fruit he obtains.
अर्चितास्तेन वै साक्षाद्भवन्ति पितरः सदा। अस्मिँल्लोके वशी यः स्यात्प्रेत्य स्वर्गे स मोदते ।। १५.
By him, the ancestors are truly worshipped and honored; in this world he becomes powerful, and after death he rejoices in heaven.
प्रायशः प्रवरः पुण्यः शिवो नाम ह्रदस्तथा। तत्र व्याससरः पुण्यं दिव्यं ब्रह्मसरस्तथा ।। १५.
Most excellent and holy is the lake called Śiva; there are also the sacred lakes of Vyāsa and Brahma, which are divine.
उज्जन्तः पर्वतः पुण्यो वसिष्ठस्य महात्मनः। ऋग्यजुःसामशिरसः कापोतः पुष्पसाह्वयः। आख्यातः पञ्चमो वेदः सृष्ट्वा ह्येतेषु ब्रह्मणा ।। १५.
There is the holy mountain Ujjanta, belonging to the great sage Vasiṣṭha; the Kāpotaka, called Puṣpasāhvaya, is the head of the Ṛg, Yajur, and Sāma Vedas; it is said that Brahmā created the fifth Veda among these.
