If a man bathes there always for a full year—
—the goddess who dwells on the peak should be known to be to the northeast.
There is the sacred ford called Brahmodaya, destroyer of sin.
He does not see the world of death, nor does he fall into hardship.
There, after bathing in the water, one becomes handsome and radiant.
There, after performing the evening worship, a twice-born person is freed from sin.
If a pure twice-born person stays there for a day and night, reciting Rudra prayers,
His entire lineage is rescued and becomes virtuous through him.
Wherever the best of men bathes in the sacred Vāgmatī river,
He does not enter a lower birth; he is born in a prosperous family.
A wise person should go there according to the prescribed method, free from desire and anger.
The merit of bathing there is tenfold; there is no doubt about this.
The reward of giving there is imperishable; the donor attains great merit.
There is no field of merit superior to this; indeed, none other is known.
Wherever I, in the form of a deer, wandered among the gods,
There, in every place, all became sacred grounds, entirely holy.
This will become famous on earth as Gokarṇeśvara.
Invisible to the gods, he departed toward the northern direction.
Thus ends the two hundred and fifteenth chapter, named 'The Description of the Glory of Jaleśvara,' in the Bhagavad Gokarṇeśvara Mahatmya of the sacred Varaha Purana.
Now begins the greatness of Gokarṇa, Śṛṅgeśvara, and others. When the deer-formed (god) departed from that place called Tryambaka,
That horn was divided into three parts, each situated separately.
O Devi, Vajrapāṇi took the tip of the horn and established it.
By the gods, the divine sages, the Siddhas, and the Brahmarshis as well,
That root was then established by Viṣṇu, with the sacred water of the gods.
There, on that very peak, the Blessed Lord abided in threefold form.
A hundred portions of himself were placed by him in the deer.
By that path, through that body, the Blessed and All-pervading One departed.
The division there is remembered as a hundredfold at that lord of mountains.
Then the preceptor of gods and demons worshipped the great lord of beings.
Gods, demons, Gandharvas, Siddhas, Yakṣas, and great serpents,
