Having entered meditation for a moment, I then perceived her.
Then, ascending that lofty peak, the lords of the gods—
In the midst of the herd of deer, saw him standing like their protector.
With a lovely face, eyes, and teeth, and on his back, white spots.
With lips like a bimba fruit, a coppery tongue and mouth, adorned with tusk-like sprouts.
Seeing him, all the gods fled from the peak.
Seizing first the tip of the horn, grasped by the wielder of the thunderbolt—
And Keśava too took hold of the base of that great-souled one.
The tip was held in Śakra’s hand, the middle in mine.
Of the horn thus seized, our lord of the deer was divided in three by us.
He vanished, standing in the sky, and addressed us as we watched.
With my body, I have been cursed by you; now I have departed from here.
If I had remained with my body, having been taken and established here,
Indeed, O immortals, my horns would be here in this forest of phlegmatic nature.
Even here, there will be great prosperity—of this there is no doubt.
As many sacred places as there are on earth, and all the lakes up to the ocean,
Again, at the auspicious foot of the lord of mountains, Himavat, I,
With a head blazing with radiant splendor and a four-faced body,
There, in the dreadful lake of serpents, I shall remain within the water.
When one born in the lineage of Vṛṣṇi, with the discus of Kṛṣṇa, will strike down the mountains,
Then that region will be entirely occupied by foreigners.
And in that land, those established by the brāhmaṇas will dwell.
Then the kings will establish the worship of the liṅga there.
The kings who act rightly will be established in justice.
There, all beings will always worship me.
Having gone to Śivapura, they will see me, their sins burned away.
That field of mine should be known as fourteen yojanas in extent.
The water there is remembered as a hundred times more pure than that of the Bhāgīrathī.
Men, leaving their bodies, go to my world—of this there is no doubt.
Surely, those who have taken refuge in the place of Puruhūta dwell there.
