फणाशतधरो रूपी भूरिशृङ्ग इवाचलः

He with a hundred hoods, of many forms, like a mountain with many peaks,

विनतो नागराजश्च कम्बलाश्वतरौ तथा

Vinata, the king of nāgas, and Kambala and Aśvatara as well,

उरगानामधिपती कर्कोटकधनञ्जयौ

The lords of serpents—Karkoṭa and Dhanañjaya,

अहोरात्र तथा पक्षा मासाः संवत्सरास्तथा

Day and night, the lunar fortnights, the months, and the years,

ततश्चैवागतैर्देवैर्यक्षैः सिद्धैश्च सर्वशः

Then, with all the gods, yakṣas, and siddhas having arrived,

तस्मिन्देवसमाजे तु रम्ये शैलेन्द्रमूर्द्धनि

In that assembly of gods, beautiful, upon the summit of the lord of mountains,

प्रगीता देवगन्धर्वाः प्रनृत्ताप्सरसां गणाः

The gods and gandharvas sang, and the hosts of apsarases danced.

पुण्यगन्धाः सुखस्पर्शास्तत्र वांति च वायवः

There, the winds are fragrant and pleasant to the touch.

स हि तान्दैवराजेन सार्द्धमन्यैश्च दैवतैः 214.

He, together with the king of the gods and other deities,

सम्भ्रान्तः सहसा तेभ्यो नमस्कर्तुं प्रचक्रमे

became agitated and immediately began to bow to them.

अर्घ्यपाद्यादिभिः शीघ्रमासनैश्च न्यमन्त्रयत्

He quickly welcomed them with offerings of water for the feet and hands, and with seats.

आदित्या वसवो रुद्रा मरुतश्चाश्विनावपि

The Ādityas, Vasus, Rudras, Maruts, and the Ashvins,

विश्वावसुर्हाहाहूहू तथा नारदतुम्बुरू

Viśvāvasu, Hāhā, Hūhū, as well as Nārada and Tumburu,

तं वासुकिप्रभृतयः पन्नगेन्द्रा महौजसः

Vāsuki and the other mighty serpent kings,

यक्षविद्याधराश्चैव ग्रहाः सागरपर्वताः

Yakshas, Vidyādharas, planets, oceans, and mountains,

आशिषः प्रददुस्तस्य सर्व एव मुदान्विता स सुप्रीतोऽस्तु ते देवः सदा पशुपतिर्मुने

All of them joyfully bestowed blessings upon him: 'May the god Paśupati always be pleased with you, O sage.'

सर्वत्र चाप्रतिहता गतिश्चास्तु तवानघ

May your movement everywhere be unhindered, O sinless one.

निरामयोऽमृतीभूतश्चरिष्यति विभुः सुखी 214.

The mighty one will live free from disease, immortal, and happy.

इत्युक्तस्त्रिदशैर्नन्दी पुनस्तान्प्रत्युवाच ह यद्भवद्भिः प्रियं सर्वैः प्रीतिमद्भिः सुरोत्तमैः

Thus addressed by the gods, Nandī replied to them again: 'Whatever is dear to you all, O joyful best of gods,'

आशिषाऽनुगृहीतोऽस्मि नियोज्योऽहं सदा हि वः

'I am blessed by your benediction; I am always to be employed by you.'

आज्ञापयध्यमाज्ञप्तस्तस्माद्विबुधसत्तमाः

'Order me, for I am commanded; therefore, O excellent gods,'

शक्र उवाच पश्यामो विप्र तं सर्वे देवानामधिपं विभुम्

Śakra said: 'Let us all, O sage, behold the mighty lord, the chief of the gods.'

स्थाणुमुग्रं शिवं देवं शर्वमेव स्वयं मुने

'The immovable, fierce, auspicious god, Śarva himself, O sage.'

तत्स्थानं नः समाख्याहि महर्षे शीघ्रमेव हि

'Tell us quickly, O great sage, that place.'

प्रत्युवाच ततः शक्रं नन्दी पशुपतिं स्मरन् श्रोतुमर्हसि देवेन्द्र यथातत्त्वं दिवस्पते

Then Nandī replied to Śakra, remembering Paśupati: 'You are worthy to hear, O lord of the gods, O lord of heaven, the truth as it is.'

अस्मिन्गिरौ मुञ्जवति स्थाणुरभ्यर्च्चतो मया ८८ प्रीतो विनिर्गत इतस्तं विज्ञातुं बिभेम्यहम्

On this Muñjavaṭa mountain, when I worshipped the steadfast one, he, pleased, departed from here; I am afraid to find out where he has gone.

मार्गयामो हि यत्नेन भगवन्तं तु वासव ।। 214.

Let us diligently search for the Blessed Lord, O Indra.

इति श्रीवराहपुराणे गोकर्णमाहात्म्ये नन्दिकेश्वरवरप्रदानं नाम चतुर्दशाधिकद्विशततमोऽ ध्यायः

Thus ends the two hundred fourteenth chapter, entitled 'The Granting of Boons by Nandikeśvara,' in the Glorious Varāha Purāṇa, in the section on the greatness of Gokarṇa.

; अथ गोकर्णेश्वरजलेश्वरमाहात्म्यवर्णनम् ततः शक्रः सुरगणैः सह सर्वैः समेत्य च

Now, the account of the greatness of Gokarṇeśvara and Jaleśvara: Then Śakra, together with all the hosts of gods, assembled there.
