अतीव महती तस्यां सर्वं कृतमिहाक्षयम्
On that day, whatever is done becomes exceedingly great and imperishable here.
तदा कोटिगुणं पुण्यं केशवाल्लभते फलम्
Then one obtains merit a crore-fold and the reward beloved of Keśava.
यथा प्रबोधिनी पुण्या तथा यस्यां स्वपेद्धरिः
Just as the holy Prabodhini is sacred, so too is that night on which Hari sleeps.
शयने बोधने चैव हरेस्तु परिवर्त्तने 211.
Whether in lying down, awakening, or even turning over, all pertain to Hari.
तस्मात्सर्वप्रयत्नेन द्वादशीं समुपोषयेत्
Therefore, one should observe the Dvādaśī fast with all effort.
एकादशी सोमयुता कार्त्तिके मासि भामिनि
O beautiful one, the Ekādaśī that falls with the moon in the month of Kārttika—
तस्यां यत्क्रियते भद्रे तदनन्तगुणं स्मृतम्
Whatever is performed on that day, O auspicious one, is remembered as having infinite merit.
स्नात्वा देवे समभ्यर्च्य प्राप्नोति परमं फलम्
Having bathed and worshipped the deity, one attains the highest reward.
जलपूर्णं तथा कुंभं स्थापयित्वा विचक्षणः
The wise should place a water-filled pot,
तस्योपरि न्यसेन्मत्स्यस्वरूपं तु जनार्दनम्
and upon it, place Janārdana in the form of a fish.
पंचामृतेन संस्नाप्य कुंकुमेन विलेपितम्
After bathing him with the five nectars and anointing with saffron,
पूजयेत् कमलैर्देवि मद्भक्तः संयतेन्द्रियः
my devotee, self-controlled, should worship the goddess with lotuses.
रामं रामं च कृष्णं च बुद्धं चैव च कल्किनम्
Rāma, Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Buddha, and also Kalkin—
पुष्पैर्धूपैस्तथा दीपनैवद्यैर्विविधैरपि 211.
with flowers, incense, lamps, and various offerings of food.
रात्रौ चोत्थापनं कार्यं देवदेवस्य सुव्रते
At night, O virtuous one, the awakening of the Lord of gods should be performed.
पुष्पधूपादिनैवेद्यैः फलैर्नानाविधैः शुभैः
With flowers, incense, offerings, and various auspicious fruits.
अलङ्कारोपहारैश्च वस्त्राद्यैश्च स्वशक्तितः
And with gifts of ornaments, garments, and the like, according to one's ability.
जगदादिर्जगद्रूपो जगदादिरनादिमान्
He is the origin of the world, the form of the world, the beginningless origin of the world.
यदि वक्त्रसहस्राणां सहस्राणि भवन्ति तैः
Even if there were thousands of mouths, and thousands more,
तथाप्युद्देशमात्रेण शक्त्या वक्ष्यामि तच्छृणु
Still, I will speak of it briefly, to the extent of my power; listen to this.
सहैव यानमागच्छेन्मम लोकं वसुन्धरे
Together with the vehicle, O Earth, one comes to my world.
आयुरारोग्यसंपन्नो जन्मातीतो भवेत्ततः
Thereafter, one becomes endowed with long life, health, and is freed from rebirth.
पापान्येतानि सर्वाणि श्रवणेनैव नाशयेत्।।211.
All these sins are destroyed merely by hearing this.
पश्ये च धीमानधनोऽपि भक्त्या स्पृशेन्मनुष्यं इह चिन्त्यमानः
Even a wise but poor person, reflecting here with devotion, may see or touch a human being.
दुःस्वप्नः प्रशममुपैति पठ्यमाने माहात्म्ये भवभयहारके नरस्य
When the greatness that removes the fear of worldly existence is recited, bad dreams subside for a person.
ते धन्यास्ते कृतार्थाश्च तैरेव सुकृतं कृतम्
They are blessed, they have attained their purpose; by them alone is merit accomplished.
नारायणाच्युतानन्त वासुदेवेति यो नरः
Whoever utters 'Nārāyaṇa, Acyuta, Ananta, Vāsudeva'—that person—
किं पुनः श्रद्धया युक्तः पूजयेन्मामनन्यधीः
How much more so one who, endowed with faith and undistracted mind, worships me?
तस्य यज्ञवराहस्य विष्णोरमिततेजसः
Of that Yajña-Varāha, of Viṣṇu of immeasurable splendor—
तस्मात् सुनियतैर्भाव्यं वैष्णवं मार्गमास्पदम्
Therefore, with great discipline, one should pursue the path of the Vaiṣṇavas.
