They oppress all people, the wretched and the village deceivers.
At the appointed time, those who steal and cause suffering to the world—such men—
Those who are skilled in false accusations concerning beings, and who bring harm in legal matters,
Those who misappropriate deposits and those who cause delusion,
They are established again and again in dreadful hells.
When their actions are exhausted, they obtain human birth.
In whatever land there is fear of thieves, fear of hunger, or fear from the king,
Where there are calamities in the lands, and greed in the cities,
Afflicted by much suffering, tormented by dwelling in the womb,
With bodies exposed at the veins, or deformed, or afflicted by wind-diseases,
Their offspring will not be of good form or auspicious marks.
And in the world, like a ripe, miserable, and terrifying sound,
Lacking in beauty, virtue, strength, and character,
These are the destroyers of karma; they become as insignificant as grass.
In the difficulties of good deeds, they are greatly bewildered.
Whatever actions they perform, in all cases they are subject to decline.
Whatever unwholesome deed there is, it flourishes in that land.
Even in good rainfall, one should avoid their field.
For them, there is neither happiness nor liberation in human existence.
Those engaged in acts of theft experience only a succession of suffering.
With minds disturbed, they enter animal or human bodies.
By that very act—whether by giving, collecting, or seizing—
Or by force, or by nature, those women who act thus—
Whoever harms people endowed with virtue, purity, and the marks of righteousness—
After experiencing hell, filled with great fear and abundant sin—
When their karma is exhausted, they are born again as humans in a harsh condition.
Among prostitutes, gamblers, cheats, and also among distillers—
Some are shameless, marked with tilaka, or castrated men.
And among women, those who excessively indulge in sensual pleasures—
They take on those natures, speak those words, and partake in those enjoyments.
