प्राप्तवान्विविधान्रोगान्संसारे चैव दारुणान् 202.

He acquires various harsh diseases in the world.

वर्षाणां तु शतं पंच तत्र क्लिष्टो दुरात्मवान्

For five hundred years, this wicked soul is tormented there.

शकुन्तो जायते घोरस्तत्र पश्चाद्वृको भवेत्

He is born as a fierce bird there, and afterwards becomes a wolf.

स्वकर्मसु विहीनेषु पश्चाल्लब्धगतिस्तथा

When deprived of his own actions, he later attains a new existence.

तत्रापि दारुणं दुःखमुपभुंक्ते दुरात्मवान्

Even there, this wicked soul experiences terrible suffering.

एवं कर्मसमायुक्तास्ते भवन्तु सहस्रशः

Thus, let those bound by actions be so, by the thousands.

कुम्भीपाकेषु निर्दग्धः पश्चाद्गर्दभतां गतः

Burned in the cauldrons of Kumbhipaka, afterwards he attains the state of a donkey.

प्राप्नोतु विविधांस्तापान्यथा हृतधनश्च सन्

Let him suffer various torments and become one whose wealth is lost.

मानुष्यं समनुप्राप्य चौरो भवति पापकृत्

Having attained human birth, he becomes a thief and doer of evil deeds.

वृक्षशाखावलम्बोऽत्र ह्यधःशीर्षः प्रजायते

Here, he is born hanging from a tree branch, with his head downward.

ततो वर्षशते पूर्णे मुच्यते स पुनः पुनः 202.

Then, after a full hundred years, he is released again and again.

पूर्वैश्च सूकरो भूत्वा नकुलो जायते पुनः

Having previously become a boar, he is then born again as a mongoose.

धिक्कृतः सर्वलोकेन कूटसाक्ष्यनृतव्रतः

Reviled by all people, he is one who gives false testimony and is devoted to lying.

इमं ह्यानृतिकं दुष्टं क्षेत्रहारकमेव च

Indeed, this wicked liar is also a land usurper.

कर्मण्येकैकशश्चायं स तु तिष्ठत्वयं पुनः

Let him remain for each and every deed, and let him stay again.

ततो जातीः स्मरेत्सर्वास्तिर्यग्योनिं समाश्रितः

Then, remembering all his previous births, he takes refuge in the wombs of animals.

सर्वकामविमुक्तस्तु सर्वदोषसमन्वितः

Deprived of all desires, yet endowed with every fault.

क्वचिन्मूकश्च काणश्च क्वचिद्व्याधिसमन्वितः

At times he is mute, at times one-eyed, and sometimes afflicted with disease.

जात्यन्तरसहस्राणि प्रयुतान्यर्बुदानि च

Thousands, tens of thousands, and crores of other births.

तीव्रैरन्तर्गतैर्दुःखैर्भूमिहर्त्ता नराधमः

The lowest of men who steals land suffers intense inner pains.

प्रबद्धः सुचिरं कालं मम लोकं गतो नरः 202.

Bound for a very long time, the man goes to my world.

तीव्रक्षुधापरिक्लिष्टो बद्धो बन्धनयन्त्रितः

Afflicted by severe hunger, bound and restrained in captivity.

सप्तधा सप्त चैकां च जातिं गत्वा स पच्यते

Having gone through sevenfold and also a single birth, he is cooked.

ततः कुक्कुटतां यातु विड्भक्षश्च दुरात्मवान्

After that, let the wicked soul become a cock and an eater of excrement.

जातिकर्म सहस्रं तु ततो मानुषतां व्रजेत्

After a thousand births and deeds, then he attains human birth.

वर्षाणां च सहस्रं तु धावमानं ततस्ततः

And after running thus for a thousand years,

तस्माद्देशात्ततो मुक्तस्ततः सूकरतां व्रजेत्

Then, released from that region, he takes birth as a boar.

यां यां याति पुनर्जातिं तत्र भक्ष्यो भवेत्तु सः

Whatever birth he attains, in that form he becomes food for others.

प्राप्य मानुषतां पश्चात्पुनर्व्याधो भविष्यति

After obtaining human birth again, he will become a hunter once more.
