Mother, father, sons, wives, and loved ones,
Crying out again and again, 'Alas! Save me, save me, O son!' he wails.
With fists, with whips, and even with serpents placed upon the body,
In this way, one's own actions are repeated again and again in succession.
There are four sins, and by conduct, a fifth is added.
And in all those beginnings, having entered the path of another quality,
Then, among immobile beings, a man is born.
For sixty thousand years and sixty hundred years,
Afterwards, when his actions are exhausted, he becomes a being born from sweat again.
Then he passes through all the species of birds once more.
In human birth, he attains the status of a Śūdra; if satisfied, he remains so.
From a Vaiśya, he attains the status of a Kṣatriya, and from there, he becomes a Brāhmaṇa.
With a poorly trained mind, he becomes one who harms himself.
A man is born, endowed with previous actions, and is utilized accordingly.
A drinker of liquor, one with dark teeth, one with foul odor, and a doer of evil,
A man who steals gold is equal to one who kills a Brāhmaṇa.
For as long as those actions persist, in those houses of departure,
The entire surface of the earth is covered, and even the rivers have departed.
A great cry arose, filled with shouts of 'ha-ha' and confusion.
With blows from iron rods and with weapons exceedingly fierce,
The laborers and messengers, exhausted and their minds overcome by delusion,
At that time, the messengers should inform the mighty Citragupta.
Thus, in the Śrī Varāha Purāṇa, this is the two-hundredth chapter named 'Description of the Nature of Hellish Torments in the Cycle of Samsara.'
Now, the battle between the Rākṣasas and the attendants: then all of them, united and always delighting in one another,
The messengers said: 'We will perform another exceedingly difficult task for you, master.'
Others, O virtuous one, may do as they wish in this matter.
Then, with bloodshot eyes, enraged by those words,
He saw nearby a certain man, formless in appearance.
Driven by anger, that wise Citragupta emerged.
Terrifying beings, assuming various forms and adorned with diverse ornaments,
