For the gods, for the brāhmaṇas, for the devotees, and for maidens too,
Thus, having recited the rite of peace, devoted to my service,
Mantra: He who is you, the source of all the worlds, the witness of actions in sacrifices and among the gods—
This is success and fame, and by his power, great strength indeed.
Thus, reciting this truly, one attains my peace, which brings happiness.
Having recited the rite of peace in this way, one should offer the madhuparka.
Mantra: He who is you, born from the best of the gods, who is indeed to be worshipped, called Madhuparka—
Ghee, curds, and honey, in equal measure, in a vessel of udumbara wood.
If ghee is unavailable, O beautiful-hipped one, mix it together with parched rice.
Prepare curd, honey, and ghee in equal measure likewise.
If none of these are available, you who are devoted to my actions,
Mantra— He who is born from your navel, through sacrifices and mantras with secret recitations,
She who gives, O highly fortunate one, what I have prescribed according to the proper rite,
Moreover, I shall tell you something else; listen to it, O Vasundhara.
It must also be given here with the mantra, following the prescribed procedure.
It should be given by my devotee for the liberation from all worldly existence.
Having taken the madhuparka, one should recite this mantra.
Mantra— He who abides in every body, Narayana, the chief of all the worlds,
With this very mantra, one should offer the madhuparka.
This is the course, O highly fortunate one, of the madhuparka as described.
Thus, the madhuparka should be given by those who desire accomplishment.
Whoever gives madhuparka attains the highest state.
It should be given to one who is initiated, and to a disciple dear to the teacher.
Who hears the account of madhuparka, it destroys sin.
This, O auspicious one, I have told you—the explanation of madhuparka.
At the royal gate, in the cremation ground, in fear, and in adversity likewise,
A man without a son obtains a son, and one without a wife gains a beloved wife.
O Earth, this great peace-bringing rite, which brings happiness, has been described to you.
Whoever performs this supreme peace-rite according to this procedure,
Thus ends the ninety-second chapter called 'The Means of All-Peace' in the sacred scripture of the Varaha Purana.
