The Lord, in the form of Varāha, replied to the Earth.
Śrī Varāha said: The origin and the offering, and whatever is diminished thereby—
I, along with Brahma and Rudra, bring about the dissolution of the world.
Then, from the southern part of my body, a person emerged, O Earth.
There, Brahma, who had arisen from my body, questioned me.
O god, this is subtle and light; it does not suit you.
Thus, he was born from me, established in all actions.
Here, O Brahman, I have resolved this, and likewise for Rudra.
The origin of the madhuparka and the certainty of its self-born nature.
What is to be done with the madhuparka? Tell me this, without omission.
The reason for the madhuparka, its giving, and its mixing as well.
O Brahman, he attains the highest state, where, having reached, he does not grieve.
Those who obtain the rite of giving attain my divine path.
Taking the madhuparka, one should recite this mantra.
Mantra: Om, this indeed, O divine Lord, is the essence of your body, the madhuparka, which brings liberation from worldly existence.
I will now tell you something else; listen to it, O Earth.
In this way, honey, curd, and ghee should be prepared equally.
Having obtained them together, one should perform my dedicated actions.
Thus ends the one hundred and ninety-first chapter in the glorious Varaha Purana, named 'The Origin, Giving, and Mixing of Madhuparka.'
Now, the description of universal peace: Having heard the origin and giving of madhuparka.
That Earth, steadfast in her vows, became filled with supreme wonder.
O god, by the conduct befitting the righteous, whatever is dear to your mind—
This, tell me truly: what is the highest and greatest in that matter? O blessed and noble Earth, what you ask of me—
I shall explain all of that, the liberation from the suffering of worldly existence.
Afterwards, perform for me the rite of peace, O Earth, which brings happiness to the realm.
Saying, 'Salutations to Nārāyaṇa,' one should recite the mantra.
I have taken refuge in you, O Lord, who carries across the ocean of worldly existence.
Look in all directions, look below; protect always from diseases.
For pregnant women, the elderly, for the rice fields, and for cows as well,
Provide food, good rainfall, abundant harvests, and also safety.
